thanks for the suggestion....i've also found the error msg on restart about device......seems one of the external harddrives is either failing or has failed....am running tech tool on that and all blocks seem to be bad...will try a data recovery from data rescue and then see if i can repartition it. I've found that the reinstall of office 2004 was different this time....asked for serial number again (didn't last time) and that might be it. If it wasn't completely removed there might have been remnants left over......cross my fingers.

Does Aperture Correct Lens Distortion with Panasonic Raw Files?

I have a Panasonic GF1. When shooting in JPEG I know that the camera adjust for barrel distortion on the saved image. However It does not for RAW images as far as I know.
I am aware that Adobe reluctantly added the software correction to Adobe Camera Raw for Panasonic cameras that need this for their RAW files to look correct, even though technically the file is no longer RAW after this adjustment. The information needed to do these corrections is encoded in the RAW file. So! I am wondering if Aperture does this correction to imported RAW files now that it supports The GF1?

As a DMC-G1 owner, I thought that RAW conversions were fully supported now. Turns out that my perception seems to have been only partly true.
I fired up SilkyPix again (thought I'd seen that for the last time!) and checked what corrections it offers. In the 'Lens aberration controller', there are three controls: Shading (angle and amount), Distortion (distortion rate and centre) and Chromatic Aberration (R rate and B rate).
Aperture only exposes controls for the [Chromatic Aberration|http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/index.html#cha pter=17%26section=11|Working with the Chromatic Aberration Controls] (red/cyan and blue/yellow) - this can be applied globally or brushed in selectively.
There doesn't appear to be any access to shading or distortion as there is in SiklyPix, though - at a quick glance and I could be wrong - Aperture's [Devignette|http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/index.html#ch apter=17%26section=4|Working with the Devignette Controls] tool appears to provide a similar function to the description of the Shading tool in SiklyPix.
If there's distortion correction automatically going on behind the scenes - you did mention the embedded correction information in the RAW file - then it's not obvious. There's certainly no user control that I have seen.

Correcting Lens Distortion = 1:1 photos

I need to take top down photos of objects and then convert the pictures to a CAD file. So far I am having trouble with lens distortion. Anyone know of a quick way to correct the distortion so that the image is 1:1?
I am using a 30mm Macro lens - the camera has a built in lens correction facility but so far only one axis is correct.

My work around was to cut in a section of black video on track 1 and dissolve to black, letting the still image on track 2 float over that. But that combo, ie. lens distortion and opacity, appears very buggy. Now this is one of the few 1920x1080 clips in a mostly 1280x1080 timeline (P2 is not square pixels), so that may be contributing..

I have a new camera, Lumix TZ60, I've taken photos and when I tried editing in Elements 11 I had a message '- - - Visit Camera RAW help' does this mean the camera manufacturer or check with Adobe?

So you'll never be able to edit Raw files from the TZ60 in Elements 11.

For the past week, my safari screen has been greyed-out and although I can enter a website and the website appears, the site is unusable because it is grey. In order to use the internet now, i have to use my Google app. What is wrong, and how can I correct this?

Not sure what is going on, bit I would try some basic steps. Double tap the home button then find the safari icon, hold it until it wiggles then press the 'x' to stop it. Then reset by holding the power button and home button until you see the apple logo then release.

How do I correct some flakiness with least disruption?

OK, earlier I had a problem with MS Office X with latest update(Word, Excel, etc. would start up and immediately shut down) and thought it had been resolved by removing it (via the uninstaller) then reinstalling it. Did a validate fonts and all is ok. However, last night, after doing an office cleaning (the room not the software) and moving stuff (which required disconnecting all external cables and reconnecting them) I had to turn off my machine. Usually I don't turn it off. Nevertheless, after I started it up, once more MS Office X won't work. I've once again removed it (via the uninstaller) and before I reinstall again wonder if there's anything else that can be done. After I removed office x, I rebooted then I rebooted again from the Diskwarrior CD and did a directory rebuild. I've also been getting a warning message on start up that says that a disk was not disconnected correctly and have 3 options --eject, initialize or ignore. Don't know what this could be but never happened before. If I do an archive install, what happens to all my applications? Is there a way to fix this thing without that drastic action? Hate to have to reinstall everything again. As an aside, my home folder is on a separate physcial drive so I'm not too worried about losing important stuff and I backup regularly. I had a carbon copy clone of the os drive on a separate drive as well but ms office x has the same problem with that one. But if I cloned after the problem existed, I would have cloned that as well. Any thoughts?

How to make responsive Edge Animate with elements aligned in the middle?

Hi,
I wanted to create a responsive hero slideshow using Edge Animate. It will have a 100% width and max-height of 500px. However, I wanted that the other elements will stay in the middle of the slideshow and not be anchors to either corners - as what is selectable in Animate.
My aim to to achieve something similar to Slider Revolution Responsive jQuery Plugin » Slider Revolution Responsive WordPress Plugin Slider Revolution.
Anyone have any idea how to go about this? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

How do I correct a problem with PDF Portfolio Links

Problem with links.
Converting a page from MSWord to PDF is presenting problems:
I have changed preferences to deselect the Convert Word Bookmarks option;
The straight conversion retains the links;
Adding the file to PDF portfolio breaks the latest link;
Using the link tool and go to page option tries to open the page (file) but I receive instruction to download Acrobat Reader 9 (I already have the latest reader installed (9.3), have checked it and repaired it);
Attempting to download the Reader (I cannot move on – the page is full screen and will not be minimised) the download is blocked at the end.
I have rebuilt the Portfolio from scratch but the problem persists.
I have run a full (extended) bench test on all my hardware – no significant problems found.
MSWord docx. saved in html and converted back to MSword
New doc converted to PDF with minimum preferences
Converted doc copied to portfolio
No change
Portfolio opened in PDF reader
No Change
Acrobat 9.3 uninstalled and replaced with original Acrobat 9
No Change
PDF Printer driver checked – OK
Full virus scan run
The Portfolio updating from MSWord is a procedure which I have repeated many times in the past without any problem.
I cannot move forward, all attempts to solve the problem have failed.

How to remove glare from eyewear with Elements 10

Hello, I'm new to the photoshop scene and just purchased the Elements 10. I have one photo before sending it off from a huge photo shoot that needs glare repair from eyewear. I have tried the clone tool and the little bandaid tool. I'm doing something wrong. It doesn't look right. Also not understanding "layers". Anyone out there have an answer? Thank so much!

I only used the Spot Healing Brush:
Use the Selection Brush to make an accurate selection of the glare on the glass surface:
Use the Spot Healing Brush set to "Content aware", and set the size very small -- 10 pix. This small size prevents too much of the surrounding area from being used as the fill. Cover the entire selected area and release the mouse button:
When you remove the selection, you'll see some small areas that need touching up:
Use the Spot Healing Brush set to the smallest size covering the areas to clean them up:
The end result isn't too bad:
The glare is removed, while preserving the appearance of a shiny surface.
Added:
It wouldn't hurt to adjust for the skin tones, either. I used Enhance...Adjust Color...Adjust Color for Skin Tone, and clicked on the boy's cheek to set the adjustment:

Switch to the Library module, select your images in the viewer, and use Quick Develop > Tone Control > Auto Tone.

In a nutshell, you convert the old catalog to the new PSE10 catalog. This Adobe document has all the details:
