How do I correctly enter margins and layout of records with Data Merge?

I am trying to layout placecards to be printed 4up on perforated sheets. I tried a number of combinations in the margins and layout of records options, but the first row is incorrectly placing 1.5" too low.
Here is what I started with, and what I entered:

But it should look like this:
Please let me know what I'm doing wrong... I must figure this out today! Thanks!!

Seriously though... There is no vertical alignment in CR. There have been several past threads related to this issue and all of them have various workarounds. None of them are very elegant.
The best workaround I've found (especially if you are grid or borders) is to turn off the boarders for the field itself and drawl a rectangle around the field(s). Now you can place the field in the lower portion of the rectangle and adjust the rectangles height to place the field text in the center of the rectangle.
This will give you more control over the height of your elements than using a carriage return before the text.

Hi Sime,
Some ideas for workarounds now that Numbers 3 has lost Page Setup, Print View and Layout View.
1. Numbers 2.3 is still on your computer unless you deleted it. Look in your Applications folder for the iWork '09 folder. Drag the Numbers '09 (Numbers 2) icon to your Dock. It will become an Alias. Right click (or control click) on it then Options > Keep in Dock. You might actually enjoy running both versions at the same time, to compare features. Just be careful which version you are running before you edit and save.
2. Use Numbers 3 to export a document 'backwards' to Numbers 2. Be aware that features lost in Numbers 3 may not be restored by exporting 'backwards' to Numbers 2.
3. In Numbers 3 > Preferences > Rulers
Those Guides help you to align objects with each other.
4. Menu > View > Show Rulers. This will show zero for the top or right left margin. Then drag a ruler guide from top or left.

How do I get printer margins and dots per inch for the so-called default printer that is attached to my computer (and possible the less critical paper size)

Thanks for your trying it. I learned from you that prinJob.pageDialog() sees the physical limitations on the margins.
I found in the docs: "When creating a Paper object, it is the application's responsibility to ensure that the paper size and the imageable area are compatible".
It seems that most of this stuff is the program telling the printer.
I want the printer to tell the program two critical sets of data: the minimum margins and the resolution.

You can't gift it, gifting can only be done from within the store, not from within your library.

The above two query is worked in oracle 11GActually the first query I posted is not correct.
It should work better with

First step would be to make yourself familiar with InDesign desktop version.
Whatever you intend to achieve, do it there manually. (see regular app docs or forums)
Then try to automate your steps with scripting (see scripting docs or forum)
If you can do it with a script in the desktop version, that script will likely also run in ID Server. (see server forum).
If you can specify missing features not achievable thru scripting or manual use, reconsider to write a plugin (this forum).
A seasoned C++ programmer will need a few months to learn the basics, wade thru tons of documentation etc. Alternatively consider to hire a consultant to do the development work for you.

When you are defining the elements of the datatype there are columns where you can do what you need:
column type: here you choose the type of data of the element
it can be a standard type or a user defined one (if you click one time only it should appear an icon in the right for input help: click there and choose the type you need)
column occurence : in a similar way of column type here you define the cardinality of the element (min occurence and max occurence)
setting min occurrence: 1, max occurrence 1 or unbounded --> required
mmin occurrence 0, max occurrence 0, 1 or unbounded --> optional
about the attributes there are directly the choice between required or optional.
 column details : here you define the length of the element if it is a string or a lot of other things if the type is a different one.

How to repeat data with Data Merge?

How can I repeat data in the same text block with Data Merge? I have an Excel file with a class schedule that I need to import but when I use Data Merge, it wants to create a new page for each line. I want to keep the data in one text block per page and use Data Merge so when I get the new Excel file, it will be easy to update. This seems like it would be a simple thing to do, but I can't find the answer. Can anyone help?

Time for me to sound like a broken record. Data merge could be used for this but I don't think it was ever intended for such recurring publications like you are making. There will always be a lot of repetitive work that always will need to be performed after each update.
Instead, I think you should read up on using an XML workflow. Now, the XML out of excel needs transformed to be viable inside ID. But that is reasonably easy and can be done in an XML editor or upon importing into ID. Though it has been set aside for a time, I am making an example of a college course catalog for a customer. I'll see if I can finish it off by the weekend. If so, I'll post it to this thread.

In just two page I�m receving the following msg (I have 12 pages doing the same thing with less complex queries)

when i tried to delete or commit the updated changes in the register...
The interesting is that this code function with jdbc of jsc...

How to get hebrew characters to work with data merge?

I'm trying to work with data merge with Hebrew characters and get gibrish on the panel, merging and export.
I've tried to change the CSV file to Unicode and change the language setting but it still don't work.
I've worked with data merge before in English and it work perfectly.
Any Ideas? is this a bug? software constrains?

Save your file as a UTF-16 BE (Big Endian) file.
Import showing options in ID. I'm on a PC, choose the below regardless.
Should look like this in ID.
Apologies to Farsi-speaking people everywhere. I pulled some text out of a Farsi text file to make up this tab-delimited merge file. I don't speak it, so it is likely servely non-sensical.
The text editor being used here (first screen shot) is the OpenSource NotePad++. I am also not using the ME version of ID.

How to create a document with sections that differ in margin and layout

I'm trying to add a pages document 'B' into my new pages document 'A'.
A and B have two entirely different layouts and different document margins. So whenever i copy B into A, B's margins become A's margins and thus B's layout turns into a mess.
I tried adding a section break, column break, layout break.. None resolves the issues.
All ideas on this are appreciated.

A document has the same size, orientation and margins throughout.
You can however set the minimum margins and use Layout breaks to position text and images within that.
In practice it is best to keep the two separate and combine the finished sets as .pdfs.
