Hello I haven't tried this before so lets try . I've given my old MacBook Pro to daughter and need to know hoe to set up a new account for her ? Can anyone give me step by step instructions to do this ?

But you won't be able to transfer purchases from your old account to it, all content that you download from the store will remain tied to the account that downloaded it.

Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)

I need to switch my daughter's email address and link this to an iTunes account. However, I am worried that all songs that were previously downloaded will not be able to play because of DRM. So I thought I had a separate account, but it turns out when I load a new song, it goes into HER Itunes files. She deleted all my info, and I REALLY want a separate account (that sticks).

First, let's make it easier to swap between accounts. In the Accounts pane of System Preferences click on the Login Options (after unlocking the pane). Enable fast user switching. This will put a new menu in the top right of the screen. You can then swap to the other account without having to log out of the current one.
Log into the original account. Select the folder you want access from the other account and choose Get Info from the file menu. There is a section called Sharing & Permissions. You will need to click on the padlock to make changes. Click on the + to add permissions for the other user account by selecting the user account from list that appears. Set the permission for that account to read only. Once you have it listed then choose the "Apply to enclosed items" from the gear menu below the list. This should give you access from the other account to that folder and any folders contained in it.
For iTunes you will want to do this to the Music folder, giving you access to the files below. From within iTunes you can select Add to Library from the file menu, and then select the music from the other account to that account's iTunes library. Once you have set up the new library whoever's library is the original can clean up the library to remove any music they don't want (now that it's in the new account).

In order to continue to play and sync the music you purchased with your old account, you'll need to authorize your new computer/iTunes library to do so. You can do this by choosing Store -> Authorize This Computer and then entering in your old account credentials.
That's all you should need to. Then just create your own account and start purchasing and using it the same you have with the old one.

oh, this is for a powerbook, not the ibook below, if it makes any difference (i'm sure it doesn't).

Go to System Preferences > Accounts.
Click the lock to make changes which will require your admin password.
Below the Accounts windows, select the + sign to create a new computer login account.
Do not select "Allow user to administer computer".
If you want to disable automatic login so that your Mom or anyone else can't login to your admin account, go to System Preferences > Accounts.
Select your login account and below, select Login Options.
Select "Enable fast user switching" which will make the process of switching between multiple login accounts a fast and easy process.
Deselect "Automatically log in as".
This will require manually entering your login password to log in to your account during a computer startup, restart and with Fast User Switching.
