How do I create a DVD from existing M2V and AC3 files?

I have previously used Compressor 4 to render a M2V file and an AC3 file from which I burned a DVD 'job'.  Now, a week later, I wish to go back and burn another DVD from these files, (without rendering them again).  How do I use these EXISTING files to create another DVD (using Compressor 4)?
Thanks,
Geoff

If you anticipate that you may need multiple disks, the way to do it is to select Hard Drive as your output device/ That makes a disk image, from which you can burn multiple copies.
WIth the separate files already created, you could bring them into an authoring program like Toast. But if you want to re-use them in Compressor, I think your only option is to multiplex them in something like MPEG STreamclip and bring the new file back into Compressor.
Probably easier to redo the Compressor job with the original source.

How do I create a DVD from an iMovie '08 Project? I followed the directions in the help section but when I open iDVD, my project is "grayed out" and I cannot open it in iDVD.
    Rich Rector

In general, in imovie Share to Media Browser or Share to iTunes.
Then open iDVD. Open the Media Browser in iDVD (at bottom right of window). Navigate to your movies and you should see the movie you made. Drag it in to the iDVD project.

  • Re-burn a DVD from .m2v and .ac3 files

Can someone explain to me if one can re-burn a DVD from Compressor after you've created the .m2v (mpeg-2) and .AC3 (dolby audio) files?
Here is my problem. I create a DVD with Compressor and have both the .m2v and .ac3 files on my drive. I'd like to save these and not have to re-compress the original ProRes file all over again and just burn these again to another DVD in the future.
How do you do that? Do you need another program to do this?
    Any help appreciated!

No.  Compressor can't use the elementary streams to build a DVD.
To burn multiple DVDs, save to a disk image (Output Device = Hard Drive) and burn that from that in Disk Utility.

  • Lost my m2v and ac3 files and want to recosntruct from a final DVD

I lost the compressed files m2v and wav that I used to generate a menu driven DVD at the time I was using a Windows based PC (I used Pinnacle Impression with a menu to generate the final DVD.
Now I no longer use this PC and made the big step to the Mac world in buying a MacPro with FinaCutPro and DVD STudio Pro. The only thing I have left is the final DVD with its usual contents (VOB files).
Is it possible to find a way to import the VOB files (with the sound) into DVD Studio Pro, split it by Chapter and re-create a brand new menu ? Or using Compressor or FCP in intermediate steps before using DVD Studio Pro ?

You can use * MPEG Streamclip * to extract the original m2v and ac3 files from the VOB file without any quality loose, and use such files in a new DVDSP project. You'll have to rebuild your menus and navigation.
    Hope that helps !

  • How to Add .m2v and .ac3 files in encore?

I am doing my HD post in FCP and creating .m2v and .ac3 files using compressor. I would like to burn my DVDs in encore to try out blu-ray DVDs. How do I add separate .ac3 and .m2v files in encore?
    Thanks

They get created as separate files originally. Just Import both and add each to the timeline.

  • How do I create a DVD from iMovie with menus? What iDVD use to do!

iDVD has disappeared on my new MacBook Pro, so how do I create a DVD with menus and everything?

    Hi
You can not do that - without any DVD authoring software as iDVD.
    So either
    • Treat to return Your new Mac (within 14 days) if Apple doesn't give You iDVD
    • Buy a second handed iLife'09 (pref as You then get all Themes - not so in iLife'11 - AND - after program-up-date they will be the same version anyway)
    • Buy another DVD-authoring software as Roxio Toast™ (costs a bit - contanin lot's of other things too - that was of great value to me (not so to everyone)
    • Use the free (and very simple/basic) BURN™ - as You at least can get Your Movie onto a Playable DVD
If there is no iDVD on Your Mac (and it's not on newer Macs as Apple discarded it) then You need a program that can do this.
Your Mac can burn CDs and DVDs - BUT DVD as Data-DVDs not as Video-DVDs - they need a program to be encoded and STRUCTURED as such.
    • iDVD is part of the boxed version of iLife'11 and can only be bought outside Apple as on Amazon and e-bay
    • DVD Studio pro - Part of FinalCut Studio Pro bundle - this to has expired and can only be bought second handed. (High price and tough learning Curve - but best ever done.)
    • Roxio Toast™ - Not as elegant as iDVD - but has many other positive additions (I like it as 10-Pro incl BD-component) (now version 11)
    • Burn - only free alternative I know of on internet. Very simple - Just for doing a plain Video-DVD
    Burn http://www.digital-digest.com/software/Burn.html
only You can buy from Apple is
    • FinalCut Pro-X which also can burn to DVD but without any nice themes.
    AppleMan1958
You can also buy Compressor from Apple for $50 US. It will also create DVD and BluRay but without the nice themes.

  • Create a dvd from past project and event moved to external hard drive

i have version 7.04 DVD. Moved several projects and events to external hard drive. How do I go to "existing dvd projects" and create a dvd from a completed past dvd project? do i have to move the project and event back to the iMac hard drive..thanks

A iDVD project contain links to the various elements you have used to make the project. Unless you have actually saved the project as an iDVD Project Archive (an option under FILE in iDVD) which can be a very large file because it actually contains all the elements used in the project with adjusted links, simply moving a project (and/or elements used in the project) breaks all the necessary links. Sometimes you can reestablish the links (iDVD usually gives you a chance to try), but it can't always be done.
    Good luck.

  • How to directly burn .m2v and .ac3 files on a DVD?

I made a DVD movie processing on Compressor but I forgot to select the "Job Action" (Create DVD), so now I have the 2 files .m2v and .ac3 but I have to burn the DVD. How can I do without re-processing the original movie?
    Thanks

If you have Toast or DVD Studio you can use these files. If not, you'll may need  to re-encode the movie.
But try this if you saved the the Compressor project that made those elementary streams. Reopen it and slightly change the name of the output files (say, by adding a numeric prefix to each name). When you do the yellow warning triangle should go away. Change the job action to burn DVD and submit, If it works, you should get a near-complete progress bar in a matter of seconds. Then you should be able to burn your physical disk or make a disk image for multiple copies.
    Good luck.

  • How do I create a DVD from iMovie when iDVD is no longer included in iLife (Lion).

I've been doing video editing for many years on PC using the Pinacle software. I have for years wanted to switch to a Mac that is known to be far better for this purpose than PC. A few days ago I bought an IMAC 27 inch, 3.1 MHz and was impressed with the Imovie program until I was going to burn the project onto a DVD as I had read about and explained in all Apple stores I've visited.
I realize to my great surprise that in the Lion version is no longer possible to burn a DVD using IDVD as mentioned in the help menu and in the Appel documentation online. I have tried with various other applications as well with no success. It is completely incomprehensible that Appel actually has removed this option from Ilife (IDVD) and I feel cheated.
I have now spoken with three different people from the support and none of them can give me a good explanation of how to burn an Imovie project onto DVD with this new operating system (which actually is a basic need). All documentation I find on internet and in the help section refers to iDVD, which is not included in Lion, and it does not even appear that I can buy the program separately. The new operating system is marketed as an improvement and this I find misleading advertising when such a basic need as creating a DVD is no longer possible (or extremely complicated). I do not experience that I have received the product I have been informed about in several stores and on Apple's website and considering of course to raise the entire purchase.
Does anybody know how to do this without iDVD? I want to create both a DVD frontpage and chapters as I have been doing on my pc for years.

Does anybody know how to do this without iDVD?
You can't.  You MUST buy iDVD.
Tell Apple how you feel.  They do read these comments, and often react.  Be nice.
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/idvd.html
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
(On the above link, you will notice under Mac apps they do indeed show, iDVD!)
If that doesn't work you can purchase iLife 11 on disk (don't get the download) for about $29. You WILL get iDVD.
or if you like downloads, go to the Apple Store via the Store button at the top, (not the App Store) and look for iLife 11 it will list iWeb and iDVD.  It IS available online.

  • How do I create a DVD from my iPad2 recorded videos

I have recorded several of my kid's basketball games this summer. I have had parents ask if I can make a dvd of those games to share with the other families. My PC (runnings Windows Vista) does have a DVD burner. I have been able to sync my pics through ITunes, but never videos. Also, can I burn a dvd of my videos from ITunes? I've spent the last several days searching on "how to" but haven't found anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In addition to the DVD burner you'll also need software that is capable of authoring DVDs.
I'm not a Windows person, but I believe Vista comes with an app called Windows DVD Maker.
You might have more success finding people knowledable with it use at Microsofts support site.

  • How Do I *Stop* Quattro Pro from Converting Access and Excel Files?

Ever since I installed WordPerfect 7, I've had periodic difficulties of having stored Excel files open in Quattro Pro.  Normally, I can easily correct that by retrieving the files from within Excel.  But now a more difficult problem has presented
itself.  Yesterday, I tried exporting an Access file into Excel and Quattro Pro opened.  Short of deleting Quattro Pro is there anyone I can stop it from trying to convert my Excel and Access files?

Thanks for your response.  However, your answer raises another problem.  After installing an HP M476nw printer a couple of weeks ago, Internet Explorer shut down, and I can't get it back up so to speak.  I've read all of Microsoft's How to
Install Internet Explorer 10 (and Internet Explorer 11) in Windows 7 online support; but when I try to do so, I keep getting an error message which in substance states" you can't install this version because you've already installed a latter version of
IE.  What's a fellow to do?  I've tried uninstalling Internet Explorer and beginning with a cold boot; but, nothing seems to work.  So, at least until I can find a solution to that problem, I guess I'm stuck with Firefox.  Sigh.

  • Best way to burn m2v and ac3 files to DVD

I recently compressed an exported final cut movie into DVD files - an ac3 audio file and an m2v video file.
I used Toast to burn them to a DVD but it did not finish correctly. I can hear the audio, but there is no video on the disc...just some graphic.
What is the best app to use to burn these files to a DVD? DVD Studio Pro? I don't need a menu, all I need is for the disc to play when it's inserted. I find that DVDSP is somewhat complex for burning a simple DVD.
I am going to try doing everything in Toast this time, but I've read that Toast is slow when it comes to encoding. Compressor was able to encode my 1hr 40min video in under 30 minutes....

My guess is that you added the .ac3 file directly to Toast and ended up with a Toast music DVD. The setting to use in Toast is DVD video in the Video window. Add only the .m2v file. Toast automatically adds the matching .ac3 file if it has the same name except for the extension and is in the same folder. If Toast can't find the audio it asks you to locate it.
You can choose Save as Disc Image and then mount the disc image for preview in DVD Player. If all is good burn the disc image to DVD using the Image File setting in the Copy window.

  • How does one Create Bootable DVD from downloaded iso image in Windows?

I have a completely empty system I want to load Solaris Express on. I have access to web on a Windows XP machine and have downloaded the Solaris iso image. Using WindowsXP facilities simply copies the iso image as an intact iso image file and resulting disc is not bootable. Windows knowledge base very conveniently says that what happened to me is what happens. No obvious referral to how to do it....
    A) So for a non-Windows savy person who does not want to become Windows savy (That is why I downloaded Solaris!) Where is a set of instructions on how to (inside Windows XP) "extract" an iso image to a CD / DVD disk so it will be bootable?
    B) It sure would be nice if Solaris were able to be loaded onto a USB Flash drive and booted at will from any USB computer. Just plug it in and boot. Has this been done?
    C) Getting a physical disk by snail mail from Sun is very slow for me.... (3 weeks and still watching the mail box...)

You probably copied the .iso file as one single very large file onto media. Instead, you can use a utility such as Roxio DVD Creator or Nero (or freeware like cdrecord) , and select the option to burn an image that already exists. No special boot options are needed, because the ISO image already contains the boot information needed.
    B) It sure would be nice if Solaris were able to be loaded onto a USB Flash drive and booted at will from any USB computer. Just plug > it in and boot. Has this been done? With the Newboot project introduced into Solaris Express, I believe it is now possible. I'm not a USB expert, though, so cannot say for sure.

  • How do you create a DVD from FCPX 10.0.7

To start off..I'm no expert. Just frustrated. I have my finished Project in FCPX 10.0.7 and want to burn it to DVD. Not looking for any fancy intro's, titles, chapters or anything. I just want to throw it onto a DVD which will begin playing once I pop the DVD into a player.
From my Project I chose "Share to DVD" and Transcoding started. Then at 66% completed it just stopped... and says,
"Finishing: Create DVD: Waiting for Create Disc to finish." That was last night. This morning, it still says that.
Not sure what to do. HELP!

Hmmm... not really sure what is causing your problems...?
Just a few things you might try...
    Trash your Preference File: http://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/
Try with another project... same problem...?
Check: File / Relink Project Files... anything missing there...?
    Are you using Optimized Media...?
Did you finished rendering the timeline...?
    Are you using ProRes 422...?
Try and export as Master File... does that work...?

  • HOW CAN I MAKE A DVD FROM MY VIDEOS AND PHOTOS?

I have videos and photos in iphoto and want to make a presentation that will include photos intersperced with video. Is that possible? If so please advise. Not a high-tech kind of person

I've never done it with videos on iPhoto, so I'm not sure. You can certainly do it in iMovie.
Do you want it to play on a DVD player? If so, you'll need a DVD authoring program like iDVD. Older Macs shipped with iDVD, likely on a separate iLife '11 disk. Recently, Apple stopped bundling iDVD. If you have iDVD, once you finish the slideshow in either iPhoto or iMovie, Share it to iDVD. From there, you can pick a theme and add menus and such.
