How do I create a High Quality Image with a low file size???

Dear All,
I am creating an invitation in Illustrator which I then place into photshop to create a JPEG. I want to create a high quality JPEG version of it but with a low file size because I am emailing the invitation. Am I correct in placing the image into photshop or should I export it from Illustrator.
The image is built of of vectors and one JPEG but they are not high in quality.
Can anyone help me please
Thanks
Ben

The image is built of of vectors and one JPEG but they are not high in quality.
For this type of image you would probably be better choosing GIF format (now known for some reason as 'Compuserve GIF'). Taking the number of "colors' down untl it still looks high quality, and anti-aliasing is preserved.

If you want Muse to "pass through" your images and not adjust, compress, crop etc - you need to place your images in the lightbox EXACTLY at the right size, pre-cropped and prepped in Photoshop.
So if your light box is 800x600 the image you're dropping into that must be 800x600 exactly with no effects, rotation etc added to the lightbox frame. This stop Muse fiddling with your images, if they are perfect when inserted and you're not asking Muse to crop, expand, add effects etc. If it's perfect when inserted, Muse SHOULD also leave the resolution alone too, but I have not tried that one, but in theory, it should work.

  • How do I create the highest quality pdfs with InDesign CS5 and Acrobat Pro 9?  New settings needed?

I sent a lot of jobs to printing companies by sending them high-res proofs on very large, multiple page jobs with lots of photos and graphics.  Many companies are requesting that I just send pdfs.  I just upgraded to Windows 7 and CS5.  I used to have some special settings in my older Acrobat Distiller  and InDesign which have been lost.  They gave a much better result that what I seem to be getting from the "Press Quality" setting for pdf's.  Does anyone have an excellent list of settings that can used to improve the quality of pdf's?  I don't know if this is a combination of settings in both InDesign itself, as well as in Acrobat Distiller, or if the settings in one program will solve this.  I have a job pending that needs improvement in the pdf quality.  Thank you.

Thanks Peter.  My last post was specific to using the Print Booklet feature (which is now solved thanks to your help).  But this is related to creating high-res pdfs in general that go to printing companies, and being used for sending high-res proofs to clients.  In general I don't need to set up printer spreads for my jobs (just for the one I asked about in my other post), but I used to have some specific settings that a printing company supplied me with to give the highest res pdf output possible.  Those settings did in fact give a better result than the Press Quality settings built into my Adobe programs.  I have had printers over the years request that I create a postscript file, then use distiller (using the settings they supplied) and I got an excellent result.  After getting a new computer, Windows 7 and new CS5 and Acrobat Pro 9 upgrade, all of these settings were lost.  I have notes on the settings from a couple of years ago, but they don't seem to apply to the CS5 programs in every given area and I feel like there may be just a couple of boxes that either should or shouldn't be checked that I'm missing now.
I understand that this is very specific information, and I may just need to go with the Press Quality settings. The printing company that gave me that great info a while back is no longer in business and other printing companies I have checked with won't spend that kind of time with me (or maybe they don't know anything other than using the Print Quality setting).   Maybe within the CS5 program now, the quality of this setting has been improved more than I realize yet.  Again, I'm new to CS5 and am just trying to get everything back to the way I used to have things running, and trying to get the best results possible.
    Thanks again!

  • High quality images in indesign CS6 get pixelated

I have been using indesign CS6 for a while now. Recently, when I place some images into a document, they are pixelated. They are high quality images with a high resolution. Even when I shrink it down considerably to fit in the document, it still gets pixelated. I have "view High Quality" checked & the image prints pixelated as well. When I preview the image, it looks fine. Any ideas?

Can you post a screen shot of the image placed on ID to have an idea of what you're looking at? If possible can you share a sample image via dropbox?

    Elizabeth,
It sounds as if the Artboard is 8 x 10. It should fit the Artwork (at 5 x 7).

  • I'm looking for a high quality image of the flower in the iPhone 5 the website.

There is a flower that is used in the apple website, for the iPhone 5. It is purple and yellow. I've been looking all over the web for it but cannot find an image of it that doesn't have a glare on it. I guess it is owned by apple, but I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a high quality image of it. Unfortunately it is not included with the iPhone 5.

    Hi(Bonjour)!
I see on photo to movie spec page that you can export in full 1920 X 1080 H.264 codec, a high quality format usable in FCE.

  • How do I create a bootable snapshot image of Lion?

How do I create a bootable snapshot image of Lion?  In the past, I used disk utilities - restore to create a copy of current hard drive on an external drive.  If there was a problem, kids could boot to external and work until internal drive was fixed.  This proved to be a great solution.  On a new Macbook Pro with Lion,  I get an error when I try.  It says to do a restore from the recovery disk, but the recovery disk says it is a limited function OSX.  I would like a full OSX so they can continue to work and even copy files over if the internal disk is suffering intermittent failures enough not to boot but not enough to keep from copying files.  A few years ago one of the kids had a disk/boot failure duing finals but was able to boot from the external hard drive, copy over what he needed and access the internet so that he could finish the exams.  Time machine is great, but there are instances where you need a quick fix to keep going until the new hard drive arrives.

I do not run Windows, so I have no idea how to handle that type of situation.
But, just to be clear: disregarding Windows, the recovery option downloads the OS and installs it. Technically, that is not a clone unless you copy the installer and create a bootable OS with it. A clone is an exact copy of your system including all your apps, user settings, files, etc, etc and will exist on an external hard drive in addition to your system on your internal - that is done with CCC or SuperDuper.
And, a GUID partition is created in Disk Utility > click on the drive > choose Partition > choose a layout other than what you now have > there will be a clickable Options button below. Click on that and you can choose GUID. Note: partitioning your drive will erase everything on it.

  • Lightroom doesn't render final high quality images

In Lightroom 3.3 rc it seem that I have many more times when Lightroom fails to render the final high quality image.  I see the inital low resolution version shown and the final high resolution version never appears.  Once this happens, I never get the high resolution version for that image until I exit and restart Lightroom.  This happens in the modules; but, has also happened on a slide show after all slides have been prepared by lightroom.  I may have seen this in 3.2; but, seems much worse in 3.3 rc.  I updated to 3.3 for Nikon D7000 support; so, no idea if difference could be related to support that camera.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

I don't use a lot of optical flow, but I found that if I want it rendered the render needs to be forced. As you point out the analysis happens automatically, but the render bar remains.
Just to test, I added some text to a re-timed clip with OF  and naturally the render bar returned. Re-rendered and it went away.
    Is your experience different?
BTW, if you can play and evaluate unrendered clips OK, it is possible to skip the render step and export.

  • Creating a HIGH QUALITY pdf file?

I've just installed Acrobat 8.1 on Windows Vista and I can't find the quick way to create a **high quality** PDF from Microsft Word. The final PDF file sizes are tiny, and not good enough standard for printing. Any pointers much appreciated. Thx.

Also, when you say "and not good enough standard for printing" are you talking about creating PDF's to print on a desktop printer or are you talking about PDF's to send to a print house?
If the latter, I'd strongly suggest you talk to the print house and ask them what settings they prefer.

  • Is it possible to convert a PDF to a high resolution image with ColdFusion?

I would like to determine how to convert PDFs to high resolution images using ColdFusion.
I'm running ColdFusion 9,0,0,251028 on CentOS 5.5 with Apache 2.2.3.
The <cfpdf action = "thumbnail" ...> is all well and good for creating 72 dpi images of a PDF, but I need to be able to create 300 dpi images of a PDF.
The PDFs in question have a much higher level of detail available than 72 dpi.
The related scale attribute for the action="thumbnail" functionality has an accepted range of 1 to 100, but an example of what I need is something more like a value of 415.
I should mention that I did try to use the jpgdpi attribute, and set it to 300 dpi . . . which produced a JPG that was indeed set to 300 dpi, but still had the same pixel dimensions as the 72 dpi image, so this did not affect the pdf to jpg conversion process in any way to make the image higher resolution.
Alternatively, would another possibility be to use ColdFusion to alter the dimensions of the pdf to be 415% of its original dimensions in memory, and then output a 100% thumbnail of that altered PDF? Is this possible? I can not for the life of me work out how to alter the set dimensions of a PDF via ColdFusion, in order to determine if this would have an affect on the size of the thumbnail produced.
Or more broadly, how would you use ColdFusion to convert a PDF to a (or a series of) high resolution images?
Thanks in advance for any help on this.

    Another idea:
Use a third party tool with CFEXECUTE if there's no other way. As you're on Linux you could easily run ghostscript on the command line to do it. gs lets you specify filetype as the device and also has options for resolution. For Windows there's gs as well (not sure though what it's command line capabilities are there) or tools like this: http://www.softinterface.com/Convert-PDF-To-Image/Convert-PDF-To-Tiff.htm
    Cheers

  • I'm a bit confused. Since my original camera format was 720/60p, and I converted the footage to Pro Res422 in order to edit in Final Cut Pro 7, should I convert back to a higher quality format before sending the file to DVD Studio Pro?

I'm a bit confused. Since my original camera format was 720/60p, and I converted the footage to Pro Res422 in order to edit in Final Cut Pro 7, should I convert back to a higher quality format before sending the file to DVD Studio Pro? If so, which Compressor codec is best to use in order to preserve the original 720/60p?   How do I maintain the highest quality?

No...ProRes is a high quality format. Finishing format.  Many TV networks take that as a final deliverable.
BUT...DVDs aren't high definition...they are SD.  You cannot make a 720p60 DVD with DVD Studio Pro.  Any DVD you make will be SD...720x480.  The only HD DVD format out there is BluRay, and for that you need a BluRay burner.
As for making a high quality DVD...using the BEST QUALITY settings in Compressor will work:
#42 - Quick and dirty way to author a DVD
Shane's Stock Answer #42 - David Roth Weiss' Secret Quick and Dirty Way to Author a DVD:
The absolute simplest way to make a DVD using FCP and DVDSP is as follows:
    1. Export a QT movie, either a reference file or self contained using current settings.
    2. Open DVDSP, select the "graphical" tab and you will see two little monitors, one blue, one green.
    3. Select the left blue one and hit delete.
    4. Now, select the green one, right click on it and select the top option "first play".
    5. Now drag your QT from the browser and drop it on top of the green monitor.
    6. Now, for a DVD from an HD source, look to the right side and select the "general tab" in the track editor, and see the Display Mode, and select "16:9 pan-scan."
    7. Hit the little black and yellow burn icon at the top of the page and put a a DVD in when prompted. DVDSP will encode and burn your new DVD.
    THATS ALL!!!
NOW...if you want a GOOD LOOKING DVD, instead of taking your REF movie into DVD SP, instead take it into Compressor and choose the BEST QUALITY ENCODE (2 pass VBR) that matches your show timing.  Then take THAT result into DVD SP and follow the rest of the steps.  Except you can choose "16:9 LETTERBOX" instead of PAN & SCAN if you want to see the entire image.

  • Higher quality recordings with quicktime screen recording?

    Hello all, first post here.
I was just wondering if it is possible to achieve higher quality recordings with quicktime player?
Because right now the recordings seem bad quality. I am a game developer and I am planing to use quick time to take videos of various special FX demos...
So here is the best video I could get with quicktime... Note this is not a very good video I was just testing.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liY9ZKgauKI
    Thanks for all your help!

I have the same question, and have looked at the answers here. I am not trying to answer your question, just add to it.
I have used snapz pro x and find that I like that way quicktime displays whats on your screen with the same amount of lag that will be in the finished video, while snapz does not. surely there is a way, deep in preferences or maybe even in terminal, that will enable me to take higher quality images in my screen recordings. I find the audio is fine but the image is what I have a problem with. I dont have the 100+ dollars to spend on other screen recording software, and would really appreciate some help.
    thanks,

  • How do i create/combine my mac id with my iPhone id?

i wanted to download an app form app store and was asked for my id.. apperntly my iPhone id is limited to my country's app store and my email is in use for that id... how do i create/combine my mac id with my iPhone id so i can download apps from appstore?

The Apple ID for the iTunes stores and for the Mac App Store are the same account. You can only buy from the stores in the countries in which you have the qualifications. You must have a bank card in that country and the bank card must have a valid billing address in that country. Creating more than one Apple ID is a bad idea and will not help you get around the requirements.
