How do I create a hyperlink to open a document in a new window?

My operating systems is: Windows 7
Using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI
I have created a user guide in MS Word 2013 which contains hyperlinks to other documents.
I print to PDF but the hyperlinks are no longer accessible as they are converted to text once the guide is turned into a PDF.
Adobe Tools has a Add or Edit Link tool; I have tried several times to create a link using this tool with no success.
The documents I am trying to open are located on a intranet sharepoint site.
Please help if you know how to add a hyperlink to open a document from a weblink.
Thank you

Of course.....
Yes I entered the correct URL however once I click on the link in the PDF nothing happens.
The only change to PDF is a pretty blue box surrounding what should be the hyperlink.
Any other helpful suggest that are not the obivious?

  • Open a document in a new window

How can I open a document in a new window? I need to have 2 open windows, with the same document. In MS Office, its "open in a new window". Thanks!

    Feature unavailable "inthebox"
This is why I wrote a script available on my idisk:
It is a good script, Yvan, for what it does. However, even with that script it is a long way to the full MS Word functionality. In MS Word, you can change the content in any of the open windows, and the modifications are instantly visible everywhere.
If you have a 20 page document, you can change the first page in one window, the last page in a second window and page 13 in a third window. If you change a style, the consequence of the style change is instantly visible in all three windows, so you can tell straight away if it works everywhere.
With your script, one gets just a read-only copy of the first document, as far as I can tell.
I persist: the full "New Window" function of MS Word is not available in Pages, not even with your otherwise good script.

  • Hyperlink to open a file in a new window

I have been trying to format the hyperlink to a file so it opens on a new window. iWeb allows us to check the box 'open in new window' only for links to external pages; when we insert a link to a file, I realize the app uploads the file to the website, but I could not find a way to have it open in a new window. Is there a way we can get to and format the hyperlink reference?

    1. Create the link that connects to the file (pdf or whatever) on a separate page of your site on iWeb.
    2. Publish your site, then go on the internet to the page that has this link. Keep this page open on your Safari or some web browser you use.
    3. Go back to your iWeb and create another link on a different page (home page, for example) of your site, and connect this link to the URL of the open page in step 2 with "Link to: An External Page" option. Click to choose "Open link in new window" on the Inspector panel. Name this link that has something to do with the file of interest in step 1.
    4. On your iWeb, go the page created in step 1 and make sure "include page in navigation menu" is not selected or checked in the Inspector panel so that web visitor will not get to this page directly.
    5. Publish your site. Now go to your site on the web to the page in step 3. Click on the link and it will open a new page with the link that has the file attached. Visitor can now open the file in that new window.
    • It seems complicated, but you'll get it.
    • You may need to refresh the pages on Safari to make it work if you have left Safari on throughout your work.
    • For this method, you have to dedicate a page to carry the link that connects to the file.
Example: I create a page that has list of links to the files for viewing. These files are weekly reports. Each file is named by its date such "March 4, 2011" "March 11, 2011" etc.. This page will be hidden from visitors at first when they visit my site. Then I create on my home page a link called "Weekly Reports" that open to "External Page" via the option I have in Inspector. Even though it says "External Page" I use the URL of the hidden page containing all the actual files. On this "hidden" page, I also has a link called "Weekly Report" but this link is connected directly to this page. I do this only because I want the "hidden" page to look like my home page in terms of displayed links.

  • How do I create a hyperlink on a Numbers document on the iPad?

Apparently Pages supports creating hyperlinks but Numbers does not? Any particular reason for this?
Note: I need to create a hyperlink within a cell (just as you would cmd-k in Excel). Not interested in making tables or text bubbles.

imobl, Thank you for your response.
I beg to differ. My question has not been answered.
    Further clarification:
A hyperlink may exist on its own, for example:
    http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110208011527AAgCu2m
Or it may be embedded, as in this example.

Regarding points. I am fully aware of how they are awarded, and will gladly award points as merited. Encouraging accuracy, or at very least a 'think twice before hitting send,' in posters should by no means discourage bona fide posters. Accountability beyond the options of correct/helpful/like would not be a bad thing.

  • PDF-Portfolio: link doesn't open a document in a new window

    Hello,
i use Acrobat 9 Pro on Win XP SP3.
I will use a link from a maindocument into a PDF-portfolio to another Portfolio document in the same file.
But the (linked) document should be open in a new window.
I can customize the option: targetdocument open in a new window, but this option/function doesn't work.
The document will always open in the same portfolio-window.
(Create link with link tool>add action>go to a page view in another doc> set link> edit action> open targetdocument in: a new window)
sorry, for the description, but i have only the german GUI.
Is there a change to use a JavaScript in the link?
    Thanks for response, maikro.

  • How do I Create a Hyperlink to other text within same email?

I want to use Mail to send out Newsletters.
Content section would contain hyperlinked text to each section (or Heading in PC world) below.
How do I create a hyperlink to text within the same email?
It's not hard to do in the PC world, how about the Mac world?
I bought the book "Mac OS X 10.5 (ISBN: 978-0-321-50263-6) and it does not help with this matter but I've also asked the question at www.ExplainMyBook.com because I thought the book "Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard" might help me out.

not possible AFAIK. Mail html capabilities are pretty rudimentary and this is one of the things it can't do. You might be able to achieve it if you create an html file with such internal anchors in a some html editor, then open that file in safari and embed it into an outgoing email from there. i couldn't make it to work though when I tried.
You should probably stick with a different email client if you want things like that. I know Thunderbird can do it for example.

How can I create a hyperlink to another file on my Mac?

Do you really mean "Hyperlink" as in a web page link to your file?
Or do you want a Mac OS X Alias icon placed in a different folder or on your desktop to a file?  Hold Command-Option keys while dragging the file to a new folder, will create an Alias.
Or perhaps a Unix Symbolic Link (similar to a Mac OS X Alias, only different).  This is done from a Terminal session using "ln -s /path/to/your/file /path/to/folder/where/symlink/to/be/placed"

  • How does labview create a hyperlink in a web page?

    Hi
I was wondering, how does labview create a hyperlink in a web page?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
What do you wish to do?
The most primitive way is to generate a .HTML file.
Type your HTML codes (Using string constant) and save it using "Write Chars To File.vi" using a filename with extension .html
Hope I am addressing your question.
    Cheers!

How can I create a sub-folder within my "Documents" folder? I have many similar documents that I want to group together. This will also un-clutter my Documents folder.

Also, you can add a New Folder button to the Finder's toolbar by opening Finder, going to the View menu in the menubar, selecting Customize Toolbar..., and dragging the New Folder icon to the toolbar in the Finder window. Then it's just one-click for new folders wherever you want them.

How can I create a Commercial Invoice or similar document in SAP ByD?
Our company has recently implemented ByD, but we can't figure out how to create a commercial invoice for shipping/customs purposes. I know that the German version of ByD allows for "Export Declarations" which is pretty much the same as a commercial invoice, but the U.S. version doesn't have this document/function.
Any suggestions? I would appreciate any help.
By the way, a commercial invoice contains:
    1. The shipperu2019s complete information: Contact name, company name, complete address and tax identification number.
       2. The recipientu2019s complete information: Contact name, company name, complete address and phone number.

       4. The shipment tracking number, air waybill number or bar-code label number.
       5. An accurate description of the contents in your shipment that includes the following details:
    What the product is
What material the product is made of
What the productu2019s Schedule B or HTS code is
What the productu2019s intended use is
What the productu2019s country of manufacture is
What the productu2019s parts or serial numbers are (if applicable)
