How do i create a new account?

i want to create a basic account on my laptop so my mom can use it to surf the net without being able to a) read all my private files, and b) change any settings.
i am sure this is in the manual somewhere but i just moved and can't find it. thanks!
oh, this is for a powerbook, not the ibook below, if it makes any difference (i'm sure it doesn't).

Go to System Preferences > Accounts.
Click the lock to make changes which will require your admin password.
Below the Accounts windows, select the + sign to create a new computer login account.
Do not select "Allow user to administer computer".
If you want to disable automatic login so that your Mom or anyone else can't login to your admin account, go to System Preferences > Accounts.
Select your login account and below, select Login Options.
Select "Enable fast user switching" which will make the process of switching between multiple login accounts a fast and easy process.
Deselect "Automatically log in as".
This will require manually entering your login password to log in to your account during a computer startup, restart and with Fast User Switching.

Need to add a new ipod touch to itunes but want to create entire new account ... how do i create a new account for itunes in another person's name and link the libraries?

I have 4 devices ... currently 3 of the are all attached to my personal itunes/email account. Just got another device - ipod touch 5 - that is my son's and I want for him to have his own account so that we are no longer sharing text messages, contacts, etc.

I need to switch my daughter's email address and link this to an iTunes account. However, I am worried that all songs that were previously downloaded will not be able to play because of DRM. Does anyone know how to take an iTunes library created under a previous account (under an old email address and password) and assign it to a new account with a new email address? I am trying to do this without burning a whole bunch of CDs and importing the songs into the new iTunes account.

My daughter and I both have Ipods, and want to setup SEPARATE accounts. Itunes 7 worked great, but now when we 'upgraded' to 8, it MERGED all our files. So I thought I had a separate account, but it turns out when I load a new song, it goes into HER Itunes files. She deleted all my info, and I REALLY want a separate account (that sticks).
My songs are still in my directory under "Mikes Itunes", but when I reloaded them into what I thought was a fresh entry, it turns out it went into my daughter's Itunes file too! What is up with Itunes 8? and how can you create a TRUE separate account so I have control over MY songs!?

First, let's make it easier to swap between accounts. In the Accounts pane of System Preferences click on the Login Options (after unlocking the pane). Enable fast user switching. This will put a new menu in the top right of the screen. You can then swap to the other account without having to log out of the current one.
Log into the original account. Select the folder you want access from the other account and choose Get Info from the file menu. There is a section called Sharing & Permissions. You will need to click on the padlock to make changes. Click on the + to add permissions for the other user account by selecting the user account from list that appears. Set the permission for that account to read only. Once you have it listed then choose the "Apply to enclosed items" from the gear menu below the list. This should give you access from the other account to that folder and any folders contained in it.
For iTunes you will want to do this to the Music folder, giving you access to the files below. From within iTunes you can select Add to Library from the file menu, and then select the music from the other account to that account's iTunes library. Once you have set up the new library whoever's library is the original can clean up the library to remove any music they don't want (now that it's in the new account).

In order to continue to play and sync the music you purchased with your old account, you'll need to authorize your new computer/iTunes library to do so. You can do this by choosing Store -> Authorize This Computer and then entering in your old account credentials.
That's all you should need to. Then just create your own account and start purchasing and using it the same you have with the old one.
