I am creating an Apple book of photos using iPhoto. I have a panoramic image that I have split into two 9.5X2.583 in pieces in PhotoShop. I want to paste them into facing pages. When I try to move the images to the book I get images much larger which won't fit on the page. I am using Mac OS X 10.7.4 and iPhoto 11 (9.3.2).
What do I need to do to make this work?

Why not just use the full panoramic photo in one of the "spread" layouts which span two pages.

Creating a photo book and photo in RIGHT side pane are not in order. Making it hard to make my book

I am trying to make a Book. I have alot of photos and i dont like how iphoto is not putting them all in. So i created my own book and added alot of pages with 4-11 pic. average per page. however, when i try to add my photos from the right side panel they are not in order. i can not figure out for the life of me how to get them into order and why that are out of order in the first place

With '11 the photo in the book pane are in data order - the only suggestion I've seen is to put them in an album and order them the way you want and use the batrch change time and date to make the date order the way you want to see them
I've not messed with this and am not sure how you get back to the correct dates after you are done
I consider this a bug and suggest reporting to Apple - iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback

How can I create an iPhoto Library from photos on an external drive?

Here's my issue:
I have a MacBook Pro running OS X Mavericks, and I am just about out of hard drive space.
I also have about 20 GB worth of photos on an external drive. The photos are not organized at all, just got dumped into a folder there during a hasty backup a couple years ago.
I'd like to use iPhoto to get these photos organized, but don't have the space to import them into the library on my laptop.
How can I create and manage an iPhoto library with these photos while keeping them on the external drive? They are on a terabyte drive, so I have a feeling I'd like to make that my main library moving forward.

Check that the drive's formatted as Mac OS Extended, drag the iPhoto library to it, launch iPhoto with the Option key held down, and choose that library.

I Often want to create different versions of the same photo....with different crops, contrast, etc and keep them. In iPhoto, that was done with the duplicate command, but there does not seem to be the same capability in ios8. Any ideas?

You can't. You make separate projects using the same or different clips, segments, transitions, titles, etc. You can even duplicate the first project and then modify/make the desired changes in the duplicated project. Each project can then be burned as a different DVD or as different titles on the same DVD if there is enough room.

You will need to use the computer that you sync with, running the most recent version of iTunes. Connect the iPad to the computer, click on the iPad name on the left, click on the Summary Pane of the iTunes window on the right, and then click on the Check for Update button.

You can use any computer to update, but you will lose everything that you have on your iPad, so that's why you really should use your own syncing computer.
I recommend this as well ....
What you should do anytime that you update the device is to transfer purchases from the iPad into iTunes - File>Transfer Purchases - and you should backup the iPad as well. When you update the update the device, if something goes wrong, you can restore from the backup.
However, iTunes should ask if you want to backup before you update, but just in case create the backup yourself before you update. The backup contains your app data and settings - along with other items - so make sure you backup first.
If you have any other important files, you may want to transfer them to your computer as well, prior to the update.

You can't create new folders directly the Photos app at this time. It is supposed to be a new feature in iOS 5. You either need to create the folders in the main folder from which you sync your photos in iTunes and sync again, or you can download third party apps that allow you to sort photos on the iPad. You can look at Photo Sort for this function in the App Store.

Photo books - unplaced photos

Hi. I just created a photo book with 100 pages, but I have still have several hundred unplaced photos in my book. I want to create another book using only the unplaced photos from the first book. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks.

You might try it this way:
Select your Book in the "Projects" section of the Library.
Ctrl-click the icon and select "Duplicate" from the Pop-up menu. This will create a second copy of your book. Open this new Book.
Click the "Photos " tab.
Then press "Clear Placed Photos". Now you'll have a new book with only your unplaced Photos.
Alternately you may set the selector on top to "Unplaced Photos" to be able to select them and create a new book from the unplaces photos.

I am a graphic designer with many years of experience in Creative Suite Design Standard software. However I'm just beginning to get into Flash and have a project where I need to create a simple page-flipping brochure. My client has a 3-fold borchure in both SWF and JPEG formats which she wants to turn into a Flash flipping book to post on her website. I have the CS3 Web Premium package but I want to know if I need a third-party page flip plug-in or does my version of Flash (9.0) include the page flip engine? Also where can I find a tutorial to build a flipping book in Flash as this would be very helpful in building one for the first time.

If anyone's interested I did find a site that looks like it has some good information regarding creating flip books (step by step) and they also sell page flip software that seems to work really well (as seen in the demos). Here's the site: http://www.pageflip.hu/ (PageFlip 3.5) In the third paragraph of the home page there is a greyed out link "online documentation." Select that link and it will take you to their documentation on how to build a flip file using their software. Fairly simple approach. I will probably purchase this software.
System requirements for PageFlip 3.5 — Any browser with Adobe Flash player 8 installed; Adobe Flash 8 to edit source files.

I will not be using any of the installed templates. I plan to organize the photos one by one in a custom way. Can this be done in large format?
