How do I create a set of framed transparent windows?

Hello All,
I want to create a set of framed windows that are transparent, so that I can place any image below the frame in the stacking order, and the image will show through the windows.
If it worked, the image below would show the trees though the five windows instead of the five white rounded rectangles, but the grey gradiant and the text would remain.
I thought masking could do it, but
Masking crops the image to the window, but it also removes the grey gradiant frame, and
I can't get masking to work with more than on window, even if I group the five windows.
Thanks in advance for any assistance with this little puzzle.

For my part you are welcome, ac.
To get the round corners appearance to work, you can just select all the rectangles with the Rounded Corner effect and Object>Expand Appearance: that will change them to simple/regular rounded rectangles.
when you make a compound path, it's stacks at the top of the layer
Not quite: it is stacked where the topmost constituent path was, so at least one of the rectangles with the Rounded Rectangle effects must have been above the live Type.

How do you create an AcrobatXI zip file in windows 8.1? from acrobat.com docs?  Sorry Not sure what community to ask this in this community?  The email provider I was using didn''t seem to want to accept it through Adobe Send the first time and since Adobe Send ends January 6, I am assuming a zip file is preferable..  I thought I had seen an Adobe Zip file somewhere but haven't been able to locate it. Any help appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hi Sherrie L,
Adobe Send is Adobe's current solution for sending large files. (It's Adobe SendNow that's retiring soon.) Can you tell us what trouble you were running into using Adobe Send?
There isn't a special version of Zip files for Acrobat, but you could reduce the PDF file size if you have Acrobat. Or, in Windows, you can create a Zip file by choosing File > Send to > Compressed (Zipped) Folder.

  • How would I create a set of folders in the /tmp directory using AS?

I have a set of folders that whenever I restart my machine they get removed (they're in the /tmp directory as they are temporary cache files).
Right now I'm manually re-creating those folders whenever I restart.
So how could I automatically create the set of folders on startup?
    I need to create:
    /tmp/fcgi_ipc/
    /tmp/fcgi_ipc/dynamic/
I figure I can create an bit of AppleScript and set it to run on startup...but I'm totally clueless on exactly what that AppleScript needs to be.
I've tried various "make new folder at ____" but nothing is cutting it.

    Consider ...
set base_Path to "/private/var/tmp/" -- path to 'tmp' folder.
set base_Folder to "fcgi_ipc" -- Desired base folder.
set sub_Folder to "dynamic" -- Sub-folder of base folder.
try -- Try handles 'folder already exists' error.
    do shell script ("mkdir " & base_Path & base_Folder) -- Create base folder.
    end try
try -- Try handles 'folder already exists' error.
    do shell script ("mkdir " & base_Path & base_Folder & "/" & sub_Folder) -- Create sub-folder.
    end try
... Naturally, you can hard code it, as well ...
try -- Try handles 'folder already exists' error.
do shell script ("mkdir /private/var/tmp/fcgi_ipc/") -- Create base folder.
    end try
try -- Try handles 'folder already exists' error.
do shell script ("mkdir /private/var/tmp/fcgi_ipc/dynamic/") -- Create sub-folder.
    end try
    ... or ...
do shell script ("mkdir -p /private/var/tmp/fcgi_ipc/dynamic/") -- Create all folders at once.

  • How do I create an icloud account on my window pc

I have an Apple Id, and I need to get an icloude id, to as to be able to backup my document on it. How do I go about that.

You cannot create an iCloud account on a PC, you can only sign into an existing iCloud account.  You have to create your iCloud account on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) running iOS 5 or higher, or on a Mac running OS X Lion (10.7.2) or higher.  After creating your account on one of these devices you will then be able to sign into the account on your PC.

  • How do I create a Boot Camp partition with Windows & blank NTFS partitions?

I'm trying to create this kind of setup:
    OS X partition
    Windows 7 partition
    blank NTFS partition (no OS)
    blank NTFS partition (no OS)
This would be much easier if I created just the OS X partition and the Windows 7 partition with the Boot Camp Assistant tool (done this many times before successfully on other computers). The problem begins when I try to split the Boot Camp partition through the Windows 7 DVD partition manager during setup by deleting the Boot Camp partition, and recreating three partitions from the unallocated space. After installing Windows 7 on one of those new three partitions, I'm getting all kinds of startup errors when I try to install the Boot Camp drivers.
What would the best way to achieve this setup?

Yes, I researched many options for three partition dual boot set ups. After many trials and tribulations, there is a simple method that I have used on multiple MBPs.
    1. Run Boot Camp Assistant, as per the Boot Camp Installation and Setup Guide. Once you have Mac OS X and Windows 7 set up, check the partitions and back them up (with Time Machine, and Winclone).
    2. Get iPartition, and resize the Mac and Windows partitions to what you want, say 100GB each, and set up your other partitions to the size you want. I put mine "after" the Windows partition, at the end of the disk, and have had no problems. It takes a few minutes to create the bootable CD for iPartition, but you get everything you need to do so from Coriolis Systems. You will need your Mac OS X installl disc.
    3. Install Paragon's HFS+ for Windows and NTFS for Mac, and everybody can read and write everything.
    4. I have both Time Machine and Norton 360 back up the Data partitions, just in case -- to an external drive, of course.
You can boot to either OS and access any partition.

  • How do I create an image with a transparent shape?

    Hi
    This should be easy -
The end result I want is this:
a png which is mostly black (or any colour) but with a defined shape in it which is transparent.
I have the shape. I select it. I seem to be able to make a mask from this (a selection which I can copy and move about). But what I can't figure out how
is how to create a new image which is filled except for this masked area.
    Any help gratefully received.
    Thanks
    --Justin Wyllie

Open a blank, new file with foreground color green
    Type text
Open effects palette, and in the drop-down go to bevels, then select "Simple Emboss" - it is the second one in my program. Apply
Still in he effects palette, in the drop-down, go to visibility, select "Hide". Apply
Double click the f icon on the text layer in the layers palette to bring up the Style settings dialog, and add a small stroke to better define the letters.

  • How can I create a video with a transparent backgound?

I rendered out an image sequence out of 3DS Max as png files with alpha channels. It is of the earth rotating. I want to export it  so when it is brought into power point, all the space around the globe is transparent.  How can I do this?
    Thanks,
    Dean

Sorry--overlooked that since it wasn't capitalized.
Anyway, you'll have to see what formats PowerPoint accepts that can include alpha (if that's even possible). For sure, On2 VP6 won't work, and QuickTime probably will not; the only likelihood is the uncompressed AVI option, and even then, that's a long shot.
The following suggests alpha channels are accepted in PowerPoint (including PNGs), but only with images, and not videos: PowerPoint and Alpha Channels - indezine.com - Graphics Presentations

  • How do I create system installation (bootable) DVD?

    I got a broken Macbook A1342 - cracked screen/liquid damage - fixed it to a working condition.
I have now a system booting nice to Snow Leaopard 10.6.8 with some previous user logged in...
Do not have a password for it, so even updating the current time is impossible now.
I want to swap a HDD to a bigger one and install a fresh copy of Mac OS X on it (possibly newer version?).
How do I create a set of installation/bootable DVDs so I can put new/empty HDD and install system on it?
Can a Macbook "clone" itself to a set of installation DVDs? What app should I use for this?
The other option would be to nuke the laptop to a factory default state, erasing everything which on there now.
I admint, I am a newbie. This is a first contact with a Macbook computer for me... Thanks for understanding :-)

How did you delete the file? It lives inside a directory owned by the OS. It isn't possible to delete it in normal circumstances without the admin password.
I deleted it by booting my laptop to a single user mode and issuing "rm" command line instruction.
No administrator password was required to delete this file! In fact, no password at all was required.
After deleting and rebooting, Max OS X asked me to create a new administrator account, which allowed me to access to EVERY file on this drive.
Sorry this has been common knowledge for a long time (ever since OS X existed about 15 years ago), it may seem shocking to you but the reality is the same on Windows & Linux. All consumer machines have tiny little cracks that can allow an experienced user a way in.
Single user mode means you are root. When someone has root on your machine - all bets are off - they own the system. No if's, ands or buts - they have won full stop.
I keep saying this in an attempt to make it 100% clear - when someone has physical access to a computer is is practically impossible to mitigate attacks like this…
The OS is stored UNENCRYPTED by default so any way to access the disk leaves it wide open to reading and modification. In addition, removing the disk from the machine can allow you access to EVERY file - defeating all permissions that the OS uses as a basic protection (when the OS is running).
The firmware is open to all startup keyboard combinations that can boot the machine from other OS's or make it mount on other machines (Target disk mode).
Hardware has features that allow direct RAM access (Google for 'firewire direct memory access attacks' - these also exist in Thunderbolt too). Passwords be stored in memory so the RAM modules could be pulled from a running machine (PC or Mac). Encrypted memory can mitigate this little hole to an extent.
The case has screws & can be opened so RAM can be ripped out & transferred to another machine for reading (Google for 'cold boot attack').
This list is likely to go on and on if you keep thinking about it.
    To stop attacks like this…
Add an EFI password - it stops all keyboard combinations & booting into single user mode.
Add full disk encryption - it stops the ability to read the disk even if removed.
The final items to overcome are the direct memory access attacks (glue up your Firewire & Thunderbolt ports). You can also set the machine to shut down & disable sleep/ hibernation.
If you are interested subject in this I'd recommend reading how the NSA goes about making a Mac 'secure' for it's agents… (basically crippling every feature that makes it convenient).
http://www.nsa.gov/ia/_files/factsheets/macosx_10_6_hardeningtips.pdf They stopped releasing this info after 10.6, but a lot of it is still relevant, also see the iOS version if you use that.
    http://www.nsa.gov/ia/_files/os/applemac/Apple_iOS_5_Guide.pdf
TLDR: Secure your Mac before you allow any chance of physical access.

  • How do I create a backup cd for my Tiger Os

I do not have the OS Discs for the imac g3 that I just purchased and am wanting to know how I can create a set of backup discs. Please help me.

To use Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, your Macintosh needs:
    A PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor
    Built-in FireWire
At least 256 MB of RAM
DVD drive (DVD-ROM), Combo (CD-RW/DVD-ROM) or SuperDrive (DVD-R) for installation
    At least 3 GB of free disk space;
Check out our System Requirements webpage for an overview of the supported hardware for Mac OS X. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1514
*Not all PowerPC G3 processor-based Macs have built-in FireWire*
If would help us if you could tell us which iMac you have... there's more then one iMac G3. Here's how to find that out. In the Apple Menu top left of your Desktop, (the Apple logo), click there then click, About This Mac. A pane will open. I'm guessing this is either a 233Mhz, 333Mhz... tell us which one it is.
If you wish to have a Mac OS Tiger disk, you can purchase one. They are still available at www.amazon.com. Make sure your iMac meets the minimum requirements.

  • Create and set key TNS_ADMIN?

    1. Create a directory to be used for the Oracle Net configuration files, and set
the TNS_ADMIN variable to point to this. It doesn’t matter where the direc-
tory is, as long as the Oracle user has permission to create, read, and write it.
    On Linux:
    mkdir /u01/oracle/net
    export TNS_ADMIN=/u01/oracle/net
Ensure that all work from now is done from a session where the variable has
    been set.
    On Windows:

Ed is actually one of the nicer, more helpful people here. Please understand, there are a lot of posts from people who expect volunteers to do their work for them, including students who expect people to do their schoolwork for them. That is highly discouraged. We do want to help, so that often winds up being a pointer to how to find the answer (the "teach a person to fish" idea). Please don't take it personally. There are nasty and rude people here, but they normally pop up reactively, in response to obvious abusers. What is obvious to some people is not to others.
When someone asks for more information, you should give it, they are trying to help, not generally being passive-aggressive. See http://www.catb.org/esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
People are here for all different reasons, and there is a lot of depth to their experience. You have a learning curve ahead, both for how to deal with Oracle and how to do deal with online communities. Patience, dedication and hard work pay off. Most have made the mistakes you are going to make, so consider advice, even apparently rude advice, helpful.
You only have to create one account. You then log on using it again. It actually spreads across many different sites (this is called SSO, Single Sign On).
Edit: By the way, sb gave the correct answer 5 minutes after your first post.

  • How do I create a disk image for windows 7, using a windows computer for USB bootcamp for mac?

Hi There, I have just bought a new 2013 iMac.
    Spec: 3.4 GHz intel core i5, 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Memory , NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M 2048 MB Graphics with OS X 10.9.4.
How can I create a 'disk image' from a windows 7 professional 64bit installation DVD using a windows laptop with windows 7 Operating system on? I want to transfer this 'disk image' (ISO?) to a USB ready for installing windows onto my 2013 iMac using bootcamp?  I want to use bootcamp from a USB as I have no disk drive for the installation DVD on my iMac. I hope all this is clear.
    Thank you. Joe

Yes, that's correct, at least not directly. You can create a blank disk image, copy the file to the mounted disk image, then burn the image to a CD/DVD.
Open Disk Utility and select Blank Disk Image from the New menu. Provide a name, Save location, and select the image size from the drop down menu. Leave Encryptions at None and Format as read/write. Click on the Create button.
After the image file appears the "removable" disk should be automatically mounted. If not double-click on it to mount it. A "removable" disk icon will appear. Drag the file you want to place on the disk image to the "removable" disk icon. The eject the "removable" disk icon. Now select the disk image file in the DU left side list and click on the Burn icon in the DU toolbar. Be sure to have a blank disc ready.
The above is actually the "long" way to do this. A much easier way is to simply insert a blank CD or DVD into the optical drive. The Finder will pop up a dialog asking what to do. Select the option to mount on the Desktop. You will now see a disc icon on the Desktop. Drag the file you want to burn to the CD/DVD, right-click or CTRL-click on the disc icon and select Burn from the contextual menu.
Why reward points?(Quoted from Discussions Terms of Use.)
The reward system helps to increase community participation. When a community member gives you (or another member) a reward for providing helpful advice or a solution to their question, your accumulated points will increase your status level within the community.
Members may reward you with 5 points if they deem that your reply is helpful and 10 points if you post a solution to their issue. Likewise, when you mark a reply as Helpful or Solved in your own created topic, you will be awarding the respondent with the same point values.
