  • How do I create a Watermark?

New to Aperture, how do I create a Watermark?

You can add watermarks in Aperture, but you cannot create watermark images with alpa channel and transparency. For that you will need an external editor.
Any photo editor that understands transparency will do, Photoshop, Pixelmator, the free Gimp, or simply Preview. To create a text watermark in Preview see for example this thread:
    Re: Watermark Creation
You add the Watermark on export, by editing the export preset to include the watermark image.
    Regards
    Léonie
For plug-ins see: Adding Copyright Symbol & Signature
And for adding the watermark on export see:  Working with Export Presets    - scroll down to
"To add a watermark image to your exported images"
Select the images you want to export.
Choose File > Export > Versions (or press Command-Shift-E).
In the dialog that appears, choose Edit from the Export Preset pop-up menu.
In the Image Export dialog, select the export preset you want to use to export your images.
    Select the Show Watermark checkbox.
    Click the Choose Image button.
Select the image you want to use as a watermark, then click Choose.
Specify where you want the watermark to appear on the image using the Position pop-up menu.
To adjust the opacity of the watermark, drag the Opacity slider to a new position.
If you want the watermark to be scaled in proportion to the image’s output size, select the “Scale watermark” checkbox.
When you’re satisfied with how your watermark appears in the watermark preview area, click OK.
Navigate to the location where you want the exported images placed.
Choose a name format for your exported files from the Name Format pop-up menu.
    Click Export Versions.
Your files are exported with the watermark you created.

  • How do I 'create video timeline' in CS5?

I have an action which has a step in it which says 'create video timeline' but CS5 says that it can't perform the step, can anyone help?

Umm... has anyone pondered a situation for a days if not weeks on end before mustering up the courage to ask for help and then found the solution minutes after asking? Yeah, this is one of those occasions. Weird.
In my defense, the user interface seems a bit obtuse. When you click "Playlists" and then "Create Playlist" at the bottom of the screen you then must click "Dates, "Folders", or "All Videos" to search for videos. The "obtusity" is that it didn't seem intuitive to me that I then had to search in those other headings after I selected to create a playlist. I assumed that the "Create a Playlist" window that then popped up would include all videos in the watched folders. When you see a video you will find that there is a green circle with a plus sign on the upper right corner. Clicking that will add it to the playlist that you are creating. When you're satisfied with the playlist, give it a name and then save it.
    *sigh*

    Hey Don,
This is a pretty straight forward process, in settings on your phone go to general>network>personal hotspot. As SP has said most likely you will have to contact your wireless provider to set it up. I know for at&t you can set up this option through att.com/wireless or dial 611. It will cost you around 45 dollars per month and this gets you the ability to tether up to 4 wireless devices and alots you 4GB per month data. Hope this helps.

I've heard that it will also cancel your current contract.  That isn't such a huge deal unless your current contract is an unlimited one--you can never get it back.
Does anyone know for sure?  I've asked AT&T and received a "Yes it will cancel your current contract." and "No, it is a new contract--you keep your old contract if you wish."  I suspect it is the former but it would be good to know for sure before ordering the service.

  • How do you create pdfs in CS5?

My ad department currently uses CS4 along with QuarkXpress. I create pdfs in Quark by using Distiller, converting postscript files to pdfs. However in CS4, If you upgrade Acrobat 9 you will lose the Distiller function. Does CS5 Acrobat X Pro for mac have Distiller? I've searched around this website and it looks like it's provided for PC. Will I be able to use it for a mac? If not how do I create a pdf in CS5? Will there be an Acrobat printer driver? I liked how in Distiller you can set up different printer settings such as how good the resolution would be for a pdf. I'd like to get an answer before purchasing this product and installing it.

There are beoming more and more reasons to stop using a distilled postscript workflow and Apple inadvertantly negated the abilty with Snow Leopard. (You know that the print industry is evolving. Your clients are going to expect pdf files with live links, bookmarks, interactive elements; all features lost in distilling.)  The "we've done it this way for years" attitude needs to be rethought. If you're print vendor dictates distilling postscript files, they haven't updated either their equipment or their webpage for a decade or both!
On a PC, you will not lose the ability to create and distill postscript files with any update, and to my knowledge, AA 9 (no  longer available) does not hinder the ability on Mac, but rather an update to OSX 10.6 does.
Your mention of CS4; is that in reference to the Adobe Creative Suite, or a stand alone product - Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop. All Adobe products create pdf native from the application. If your daily version of Quark does not offer the same ability, you need to keep current and update or stray in the past.

  • How do I insert a Watermark?

    Hello,
    Have pages 08 3.0.2
How do I create a watermark on a page from, say, iPhoto or some other clipart, etc?
    Related to that...
When converting Windows pages (.doc) to Pages that do have Watermarks, is there a way to have the watermarks be sized as normal instead of running off the page on Pages 08? (at least that's what most of mine do).
    Thank you for any help,
    Lee

If you search for the keyword "watermark" in the PDF User Guide delivered with every legal copy of iWork, you will be sent to pages 18 & 57 which describes the wanted feature.
As I trash automatically .doc files which are sent to me, I don't know the way they are behaving in Pages

  • How to create a watermark in Pages?

I seem to remember there was a process by which an image could be use to create a watermark in pages but there is no longer anything in Help.  Is this still available?

    SG,
    Text Wrap:
In the Wrap Inspector, with an object selected, you can select "Object causes wrap". The option causes the object to push text out of its way. You are telling me that you don't want this, so make sure the option is turned off.
    Background:
The background layer is behind the text layer. If you want your objects (graphics, text boxes, shapes) to obscure the text that you type normally, leave the objects on top. If you would like to have the text overlay the objects, then send the objects to the Background.
    Section Master:
Giving an object Section Master status causes it to repeat on every page of the section. That's every page of the document for most people since the average user doesn't make use of Section Breaks. I asked if your documents had more than 1-page, but I don't think you responded.
    Registration:
You say you just want to type away on the text layer and have things line up with your background template. Good luck with that. You are going to have terrible problems with the pitch of your text matching the scale of your background object. You may be ok at the top, but by the time you get to the bottom of the page the chances are you will be off a half a line. Better to use Text Boxes and align each one with the appropriate region of the template.
    Dexterity:
There are ways to deal with eye-hand coordination and steadiness issues. Objects can be shifted by using the arrow keys and they can be sized and positioned by using the Metrics Inspector. And, remember that you only have to do the tedious stuff once. After that, Save as Template
The biggest problem I have with the new-fangled machines is that they are designed by kids with better vision than I will ever have again. They have no idea how much trouble us old guys have seeing the menus and instructions. The Mac App Store is one of the worst examples, where you can't even resize the text. The universal access tools for the vision impaired in System Preferences don't help me because I can't stand the look, or the loss of font smoothing. For critical work I reluctantly put on the strongest reading glasses and lower my nose to the screen.
    Good luck,
    Jerry

  • How do I create and use a watermark in aperture?

    Hello there!
How to I create and use a watermark in aperture? do I need to download a 3rd party plugin? Any recommendations?
    Thank you!

Aperture does not support the creation of watermarks; if you want a watermark image with transparent regions you need an application that can handle alpha channels - Prewiew, Photoshop, Pixelmator, Gimp, just to name a few.
But once you have a watermark image, you can add it to an image, when you export from Aperture. Add the watermark to one of the Export Presets. You will need to create your watermark in different sizes, so you can add it to each of the export pixel sizes for your images, that you are using.
Another possibility would be using the BorderFX plugin. This versatile plug-in also supports to add graphic overlays to your images, either when exporting or as an Edit plug-in.  http://www.iborderfx.com/BorderFX
