How do I crop to a certain size 6.0x4.5 in Lightroom version 3.6?

I'm using Lightroom version 3.6 and would like to crop my image for export to a particular size 6.0 x 4.5.  I have marked this specification in the export dialog field, but that doesn't seem to be working.  Any suggestions?  I'm using a Macbook Pro version 10.6.8.
Thanks for your help-
Elizabeth

Thank you so much for your help with this.  I used the crop tool and set a custom crop size to my specifications.  How would I know before actual submission that those specs had been met?  Is there a way to see the image size after the crop?  I'm not sure it was executed since I never had the option to select done after my crop edits.  I was able to do the before and after comparison to see that the crop had been done, but that's all. Did I do something wrong in that case?
You also mentioned making a virtual copy for the crop, it looked to me like LR did that automatically?  Is there a command to actually make virtual copies?

  • How to set windows at a certain size in Lion ?

      Hi Guys
      this is something i have been having an uphill struggle trying to get right - to say the least !!..
      in Snow Leopard one could only ''resize'' a window by pulling on it's corners ( NOT a limitation in my book.. )  but when you closed the window & later opened it again, it remained the size it was when you last closed it
      now with Lion one can ''resize'' the windows by pulling anywhere ( just like Windows - HURRAY !?.. ) BUT when you close it & open it again later, Lion resizes it forcing me to - AGAIN.. - size it back to my preferences/needs and to me THAT my friends IS a SERIOUS limitation to my efficiency
    on my 27'' iMac i like my windows to be roughly  8'' tall X 10'' wide, that combined with my file & folder's size gives me a nice working space, showing most of that window's content WITHOUT scrolling, etc.... MOST IS clearly displayed to see, what could be easier than that ?
    the PROBLEM is that this happens 10, 15 or even 20 times a day, WASTING my time & effort in the process - for NOTHING !!
    & that's what drives me nuts : constantly resizing windows ? in my neck of the woods there ARE better things to do.....you know what i mean ? this IS MOST frustrating given the pointlessness of the effort wasted
    what can i say ? i'm a lazy bugger who doesn't enjoy repeating the same task  OVER & OVER again - anyone has a suggestion on how to avoid this ?
    i'd truly appreciate a solution for this
    many thanks

    Hello Pankaj
    You will find a solution for your problem in sample report <b>BCALV_EDIT_03</b>. If you do the error handling in the event handler method for DATA_CHANGED then the cursor will point to the field containing the faulty value.
    Here is part of the report's header documentation:
    program bcalv_edit_03.
    * Purpose:
    * ~~~~~~~~
    * In this example the user may change values of fields
    * SEATSOCC (occupied seats) and/or PLANETYPE. The report checks
    * the input value(s) semantically and provides protocol
    * messages in case of error.
    * To check program behavior
    * ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    * Change values of the column "occupied seats" or "Planetype" or
    * both (in the same line). Try to provocate errors.
    * Click on the check symbol or press return to initiate checking.
    * (ALV also checks input before any functions like sorting,
    * filtering or doubleclick are processed. These functions are
    * only active if the input does not contain any errors).
    * The ALV Grid Control first checks if the input is correct
    * according to DDIC-Information (Type, lenght). Then semantic
    * checks are made by the application using event handler method
    * HANDLE_DATA_CHANGED.

  • How to change/crop to larger page size?

    Hi,
    I have the following script to loop through each page in a document, check if each page is A4 Portrait size, and if it is, change it to US Letter paper size:
    //Change Portrait A4 Page Size to US Letter Size
    //Values are in points and there are 72 points per inch
    //Check if page is Portrait A4 size (if Yes, then crop to US Letter otherwise ignore)
    for (var i=0; i<this.numPages;i++){
    var rCrop = this.getPageBox("Crop",i);
    if (this.getPageBox("Crop",i)[1]<842 && getPageBox("Crop",i)[1]>841 && getPageBox("Crop",i)[2]<596 &&
    getPageBox("Crop",i)[2]>595){
    rCrop[0] -= 8.28; // Adjust Left Side
    rCrop[1] -= 24.84; // Adjust Top Side
    rCrop[2] += 8.28; // Adjust Right Side
    rCrop[3] += 24.84; // Adjust Bottom Side
    this.setPageBoxes("Crop",i,i,rCrop);
    The script crops the top and bottom of each page correctly, but only expands the width of the left and right sides on the first page. After doing some experiments it seems the script will crop pages to a smaller size but struggles to expand pages to a larger size (in converting from A4 to US Letter I need to crop top and bottom to smaller size, but expand left and right sides to larger size). I tried changing "Crop" to "Media" but this didn't help.
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks. HJ

    The page size options are limited, but are in the crop tool. If there are no tags or other markup, you can also print to a new PDF and adjust the size in the printer interface -- sometimes the simplest method, but not normally recommended. The rotation can be done in the document menu and then saved. The rotation that is typically on the toolbar are only for the current view and does not save with the PDF. Many of these you can use a batch process to resolve (in AA8 that is under the Advanced>Document Processing). The better method is to setup your Adobe PDF printer to create the correct page size and orientation in the future. You can setup to typically expand to fit, select a paper size, and have the settings set to auto-rotate. The later is based on the text that is found on the page. The margin elimination is also part of the crop tool. Hopefully this at least gives you some things to look at. Unfortunately, the tools get moved around with every version, so you may have to search for the tools.

  • How to truncate emails to a certain size on iOS7?

    I would like to truncate emails to a certain number of kB in order to "save" during roaming times.
    Is it possible?
    Thanks

    Hm, I thought it would be sufficient that I navigate to that frame at runtime (ie. I click another button that takes my parent clip to frame 7) and that all my Action Script is on the main timeline. My reasoning was that then I would be in frame 7 and the content is controlled by the AS on the main timeline, much the same as if the clip had one frame and I was in that. I see now that's not the case though.
    Thanks!

  • How can i keep zoomed in a certain size different sites without having to zoom in every time each site?

    when i open Firefox, the size of the letters is small and i can't see well. i zoom in a certain size, but when i open a new site the letters return to their previous size.. how can i preserve a certain size off letters without having to do the same thing (zoom in ) every time i open a new site? the analysis at my laptop is 1920*1080..

    The Firefox [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Page+Zoom Page Zoom] feature does a domain by domain level of saving the users preferred zoom level settings, there is no default Page Zoom level setting in Firefox, as with some other browsers.
    Try the Default FullZoom Level extension: <br />
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6965
    Or the NoSquint extension: <br />

  • How do I crop without aperture re-enlarging the photo? Can I maintain size of crop without drastically affecting size of mega pixel output for online data transfer to print site?

    HOW DO I CROP WITHOUT APERTURE RE-SIZING THE PHOTO? CAN I MAINTAIN THE SELECTED CROP SIZE (VERY SLIGHT EDGE TRIM) WITHOUT
    DRASTICALLY AFFECTING THE MEGAPIXEL SIZE BEING SENT TO ONLINE PRINTING SITE?

    Note the "Size" read out on the crop popup this tells you the size your cropped image wil be. eg. The image here is a 21 megapixel image, cropping the image like so reduces the file size to 5MP, your exported file size can only be a max of this 5MP.
    Hope this Helps, (HTH)

  • HT2639 I am making a holiday card. I keep trying to crop the picture but it appears to big and only 2 out of the three people in the picture appear in the allowed area..How do I crop and size it to fit correctly?? Size is roughly 3.5 x 5.5??

    I am trying to make a holiday card.  The Front has pictures running up and down the left and right side. In the middle is the rough 3.5 x 5.5 opening that I would like to place the 3 person picture in.  Problem is, only two of the three kids in it fit. How do I crop / make it shrink to fit correctly in this opening?  I have tried cropping but it still does not size correctly. under crop in edit, what should I do?? Thanks!

    Well, I wouldn't go that far.. the G5 Quad is still a very capable machine.. A machine is obsolete only if it fails to do what you want it to do, and those at TenFourFox would argue your point.. as far as an ipod or ipod touch? Why bother when I can charge it in the wall rather via from the computer's USB port. Ok I decided that I can turn my mac pro into a 24 hour/seven day a week hosting server for all my computers.. It won't use more than 1 core, but at least it will allow me to host 1000's of files and backups of all my original software on all my machines.
    To Apple, the Quad maybe obsolete, but to me it is far from it as it runs just as it did when it was brand new. It is semi brand new anyway.
    Thank you all for your advice.

    Hi, the only possibility I can see is making multiple copies of...

  • How can I remove all photos below a certain size?

    Due to an importing error by a customer, I need to remove all photos below a certain size (e.g. all photos smaller than 300pixels wide). Any suggestions?
    I have so far successfully used Spotlight to do it, but it left me with thousands of orphaned thumbnails which iPhoto doesn't appear to be able to remove. I have now restored the backup library from prior to the spotlight operation.
    Any suggestions appreciated! TIA.

    Nevermind, I've cracked it. Used spotlight to remove all the images smaller than 300px wide, then used the app "Tidy Up!" to 'Report missing photos' and deleted them all (2000+). Tidy Up is very clever and executes the deletes through iPhoto so the library database remains accurate. The deletion took about 30 minutes, while it's happening iPhoto looks like it's being controlled by a deranged invisible user.

  • HOW TO: Action to resize & center crop images of various sizes

    Hello,
    I've gotten a lot of help here over the years so I wanted to share an action I created. I needed to resize and automatically center crop images of various sizes for my company's website. For example: All images needed to be 900px x 460px 72dpi - and because input images were from many different sources, the dimensions were different for each image. It seemed straight forward at first (sort of) but I couldn't find a way of doing this without a script or some third party program - so I came up with the following action. Hope someone gets some use out of it.
    Note: Change action as needed to suit your needs.
    Resize and Center Crop (Auto)
    Fit Image
         height: 900px
         width: 900px
         With Don't Enlarge
    Canvas Size
         height: 460px
         vertical: center
         extension color: white
    Image Size
         width: 900px
         resolution: 72 per inch
         with scale styles
         with constrain proportions
    Save (optional)
         As: JPEG
         Quality: 12
         Scans: 5 (for web images)
    This assumes that the images are at least horizontal, but if you have photoshop CC you can create a conditional action that will work with vertical and horizontal images. If you are square cropping, this action makes it a breeze. I also have an action that uses the same basic logic, but lets me manually move the crop box. The only real issue I have encountered is when the original image ratio is very narrow, which leads to some white space on the top and bottom (I'm working on updating the action to address this). But it has worked on about 95% of my images. Again, you will probably need to adjust all of the variables depending on what you are trying to do, but it should be possible with the same steps. And of course this can also be used to batch process.
    Feel free to let me know if anyone comes up with improvements! Thanks

    Hmm thanks Mylenium, I got that response a lot when I was searching before. But if you re-read above, I am explaining a method of doing it without a script. So it wasn't really a question, just a tip in case anyone else wanted to do the same.

  • Process multiple images... How do you CROP them?

    I'm trying to process a bunch of photos. The first thing I need to do is crop them to a certain size. But in the Process Mulitiple Files dialog box, the only option I see is to resize - not crop - them. So I'm ending up with squished photos instead of cropped ones.
    Does anyone know how to crop them using the multiple process?
    Thanks.

    Frank,
    If you are trying to change the aspect ratio to the desired output format,
    you still have to discard some portion(s) of your image. Many digital
    cameras shoot in a 4:3 aspect ratio. If you want 6 x 4 prints, you will
    have to crop to that ratio. In a simple case, the entire width can be used,
    but the height will be excessive by about 11%. Now, the entire 11% can be
    cropped out of the top or the bottom. Or it can be taken from both top and
    bottom in any kind of proportion. Again, each image should be individually
    evaluated and the crop area should be manually defined, based on the content
    of the photo.

  • How do I crop an image to 3.5 x 5

    I'm trying to match the size and aspect ratio of an older photo.  The old photo was printed at 3.5" x 5.0".
    How do I crop an image with Aperture to 3.5x5.0?
    Thanks.

    When you crop, the only control is the aspect ratio. You can crop an image with a custom ratio by selecting "custom" at the bottom of the aspect ratio popup menu in the Crop HUD that appears while in the Crop command.
    The size only matters when you print the image. In the print dialog you can set the size in inches of the printed image. The dpi of the printed photo will depend on the pixel size of the image divided by the printed size in inches.
    If you want to control the exact dpi of the printed image, you'll need a pixel editor such as Photoshop.
