How do I de-install Firefox 4 and return to the previous version?
Firefox 4 is incredibly slow. It is making it very difficult for me to work on the internet. I want to de-install it and return to the previous version, which was much faster. Please advise me about how to de-install Firefox 4. thank you, sj
I decide to go through and thin out my add-ons anyway, but it definitely was an add-on that was causing the slow-down. Now it's blazing again.

Installed ios 8 onto my iPhone, and it immediately became a near-useless brick. Everything is now very slow. Pictures don't display properly (hard to even find the right ones). It will no longer communicate with my desktop computer when I plug it in, and photos won't transfer... they"freeze" up until I go into task manager and tell it to shut everything down, then I delete those photos from the computer. None of this was a problem before installing ios *, it all began immediately upon installation of ios 8. How do I get rid of ios * and go back to the a version that actually works?
It is, and I did... although actually it is a 4S (slight error in typing on my part). The "update" came automatically, and the red alert icon remained there constantly. So I finally clicked on the icon to "update" it. Bad choice! In addition, the display on the phone often goes very dark now, without any warning or prompting, nor for any particular reason (that I can figure out).

To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

i am trying to install firefox 4 and keep getting the message that you have to reboot your computer to complete the uninstall i have done this a number of times any suggestions

With Firefox 6, you can't close the tab you are in and remain in the program; opting to close one e-mail means you are forced to exit the (e-mail) program completely and then go back into it...this is ridiculous if you are trying to read all your e-mails...not have this issue. How do I uninstall Firefox 6 & go back to the previous version?
I am unwilling to attempt navigation away from these sites. The pop-ups that occur on the attempt to leave a site or to close the browser are exit traps offering incentive to stay.
Once upon a time, when the internet was less dangerous, I would be willing to close the exit pop-ups. Now, after twice being infected with malware trying to close the pop-ups, I now force close whichever browser I am using.
Recently, I clicked on the red X to close one pop-up, and it installed a trojan that I had to pay to be removed. When I clicked on 'Leave' in another exit pop, it didn't exit and it turned out I was giving permission to run a script file. Now that criminals have learned these exit pop-ups can be used to force a click action, the sites using them have become dangerous.
If I force the browser to close using Task manager, Please tell me how to stop FireFox from sending me directly back to the same site because it mistakenly believes it crashed when it did not. I forced it to close because I was on a site that had taken control of my browser and was not allowing me to leave the site.
No other browser sends me back to the potentially dangerous sites. I prefer Firefox, but the new version must have a setting that allows me to get safely away from a problem site? -
The latest version of Mozilla is probably not compatible w/ my computer and operating system. The computer is 10yo, and the operating system is Windows 2000. How do I uninstall the new version and return to the old version?

Yesterday, while trying to get rid of the uninvited AVG elements in my Mozilla opening page I some how installed the latest version of Mozilla which I really dislike. Given this is on my wife's computer while she is away and she does not like changes to her computer I would really appreciate it being returned to the previous version.
I also consider your instructions on how to do anything regarding setting up Mozilla as absolutely terribly written.Your current level 29 is TERRIBLE on my iMac and I want to go back a level, until you fix it!!!! Help?????!!!!!

Either way, on the mac, you should be able to simply:
1. Close all versions of Firefox
2. Drag the applications to the trash folder, which will remove them from the folder or your dock
3. Download Firefox with Safari at getfirefox.com
4. Open the downloaded file by double clicking it
5. Once that happens you will have a Firefox icon and a folder with an "A" on it
6. Drag the Firefox icon onto the A, which will install it into your Applications folder
7. Open your Applications folder and drag it onto your main dock
8. You should be able to launch it from your dock by clicking on the Firefox icon.

Hi I use CA Internet Security Suite which checks ALL pages and searches, but it does not work with this version, also I wish to use Goggle Toolbar which ALSO does not work with this version where can I get the previous version? I have installed the updated version of Firefox but it has automatically disabled my Kaspersky anti virus web browsing extension. I have now uninstalled Firefox and would like the earlier version back please.
The main Protection is still active because it scan traffic product regardless.the addon are just shortcut of few things like Virtual Keyboard, Url Banner etc. But doesnot get you '''more''' protection.If your Antivirus say green and your web component is enable then all is good. You are protected. :)

After the latest Apple-Update, I use Java 6 Update 24 for Mac OS X 10.6.
If I try to upload the files in Safari and clicking the button for the upload, the window don't open to select the files.
If I try the same with Firefox, sometimes it works, sometimes not.
It is possible to get back to the previous version (perhaps Java 6 Update 22) and how?Same probs here! My iBook is running OS 10.4.11; after installing the beta about December 11 2010, neither version of Firefox is usable. I don't want to uninstall as my bookmarks will be lost. How can I correct this and still preserve the bookmarks I have?
Firefox 4 will no work on OS X 10.4, it requires at least OS X 10.5
You can trash the application and this will not remove the bookmarks. User data such as bookmarks and passwords are stored elsewhere in the profile folder, and trashing the application will not remove the profile folder. For more details see [[Uninstalling Firefox]]. -
