How do I de-install Portal - Just want Apache server

I seem to be forced to installing hundreds
of megabytes of stuff that I don't want.
How do I just install the Apache/Jserv/OJSP portion of IAS?
I tried using the installer to de-install Portal but it won't let me because of the
dependencies..

drop the portal% users, remove the portal30
directory and remove the wdbsvr.app file.
If you don't want to use the modplsql cartridge, then either remove or rename it
and don't forget to comment out the appropriate sections of the oracle_apache.conf. Course, you should try to uninstall using the installer first, as that is the recommended way (and supported).

Hmm that does sound a bit strange - I use a system quite similar to yours (XP, FF 3.6.3), and don't see this behaviour.
I would recommend trying to start Firefox in Firefox [[Safe Mode]] (make sure you close '''all''' running Firefox instances first), and see if this problem persists.
If not, it could be some add-on causing this behaviour - restart Firefox in Safe Mode, disable all add-ons, and enable them one by one to find the guilty one.
If it still happens in Firefox Safe Mode, some other program (or something in Windows itself) most likely is the cause. We may be able to help with this too, so let us know what works and provide as much additional information as possible to let us help you solve this.

which version r u using wdjava or abap ? ......if ur using java you have to do all in home page framework and if you are using with launchpad from EHP5 better you can create it from launchpad by going to t -code LPD_CUST and select the ROLE:ESS and INSTANCE: MENU

Cannot Install Portal 10g on Windows Server 2003

Downloaded Portal 10G from downloads server (as_windows_x86_portal_wireless_101200) to a new Windows 2003 Server. Attempt to install, get the series of messages "checking prerequisites" ending with "All installer requirements met."
At that point the DOS window disappears, and nothing else visible happens. The "checking prerequisites" messages are also written to a log file in
c:\program files\oracle\inventory\logs
which contains no other information after the message "All installer requirements met."
However, in the server's event log I get two entries:

How do I specify that I just want to print pg 1 to 2 not the rest of doc

I'm new to apple and not sure how I specify which pages to
print there doesn't seem to be a print preview in the sense I
can specify and define what I want to print of a document.
I found the 'grab' feature/crosshairs to locate on a portion of
a page so I can print a portion of one page yet doesn't give me
a range selector to specifically set it to certain no. of pages.
Even if I have two page document I like to have the control
to print one page so i can turn page over and print the 2nd
page of a document versus having a bunch of one sided
printed pages. Is there a double side print feature? Where do I
find these settings in the Leopard 10.5 o/sys? Intuitively I'd think
File print yet I wasn't able to come up with it as yet?

When the print dialog box comes up, the default looks pretty small. However, there is a button that looks like a triangle next to the pull down menu where it says "Printer:". This will give you some more options, including being able to print pages in a specific range.
Should say Pages: From # to #.

How to use the Enterprise portal as a web server

For portal content I would like to create an URL-iview for a picture (.jpg file) where i want to put the picture on the SAP portal itself. So in this case the portal also acts as the web server.
If this is possible.
Where do i put the picture (in which directory)?
What is the url to be used for the iview?

You can create a jsp page. The portal will display it for you if you want.
d:\usr\sap\<SYSID>\j2ee\j2ee_00\cluster\server\services\SERVLE~1\work\jspTemp\irj\root
Underneath this folder I placed a jsp folder. I could have called it anything. You can place pages here. You can take a standard html page and throw the following two lines at the top.
<%@ page contentType="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" language="java" import="java.sql.*" errorPage="" %>
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
And it automagically becomes a jsp page. Granted if you really want to do fancy stuff with java server pages you will have to delve into some java and javascript.
I created an images directory and placed my pictures in that folder.
Then I created an iview pointing to a web page.
http://<yourserver>:50000/irj/jsp/mywebpage.jsp
You can even try the page out in a browser before creating an iview. If you are concerned about security you will have to place in within the PCD and do ACL to lock it down.

How to script the install of Flash Comm. Server?

Hi all,
I need to deploy FCS 1.5 to a number of W2K servers. I have
scripted every single part of the install and updates, EXCEPT for
the initial FCS1.5 install, because I can find no documentation on
it at all - anywhere!
The variables that I need to be able to "pass" to the install
are:
IIS or folder for install
first / last name for reg. purposes
company name for reg. purposes
serial #
admin username
admin password
Is there any way that this can be scripted? I have gone
through all of Adobe's docs and various places on the web but
cannot find any info on any potential switches/files that I can
feed to the installer.

I have done a clean install of 10.5 on an xserve. I would like to go back to Apache 1.3. Apple says that all I need to do is edit /var/db/.apacheversion However, when I try to edit it (using vi or bbedit or any of my typical editors) I do not have "permission". What could be going on?

You'll need to enter the root password.
Don't you mean you'll need to enter the user's own password (and they need to be in the admin group).

How Can I Add mod_ssl to Built In Apache Server?

I would like to add mod_ssl as a DSO module to the Apache web server that comes with Solaris 9. However I have been unable to find any decent instructions on how to do so. Any help would be appreciated. I have included below a post I have made to a newsgroup which summarises what I have tried so far.

I have been following the instructions for adding mod_ssl to the integrated httpd server in Solaris that was posted here last year (a copy is included below). I am attempting to install mod_ssl onto a Solaris 9 system and I am using the relevant version of mod_ssl. It is my preferance to do it this way, retaining the included version of httpd, rather than to install the web server from another source.
Anyway, after following the instructions below I have attepted to launch the htppd server and receive the following error message:
Syntax error on line 252 of /etc/apache/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /usr/apache/libexec/libssl.so into server: ld.so.1: /usr/apache/bin/httpd: fatal: relocation error: file /usr/apache/libexec/libssl.so: symbol __umoddi3: referenced symbol not found

Well, first of all, why are you using the Sun Freeware apache? Solaris 8
ships with apache as well, and if you're up-to-date with your patches,
you will have 1.3.26 and Sun will take care of backporting any security
issues.
Here is my procedure for adding SSL support to the Sun Apache:
1. Make sure you have the the SUNWapchr and SUNWapchu packages installed.
2. Make sure you have the latest Apache patch from Sun installed. For
Solaris 8, that would be patch number 109234 (get the highest revision).
3. You need to have OpenSSl installed.
4. Now unpack the modssl-distribution (you will need the one that goes
with your apache-version, in this case 2.8.9)
5. ./configure with-apxs=/usr/apache/bin/apxs with-ssl=SYSTEM
6. You should patch line 23 of pkg.sslmod/Makefile to read:
SSL_LDFLAGS=-L$(SSL_LIBDIR) -R$(SSL_LIBDIR)
This ensures that your modssl will be able to find openssl later on.
7. make
You could now take the file pkg.sslmod/libssl.so and dump it in
/usr/apache/libexec, then add the appropriate statements to your
httpd.conf. But for extra bonus points, we're going to make a package
instead.
Create a file called 'prototype' in the mod-ssl directory, with these
contents:
f none /usr/apache/libexec/libssl.so=pkg.sslmod/libssl.so 755 root other
i ./pkginfo
Create a file called 'pkginfo' in the mod-ssl directory with these contents:
PKG=Apmodssl
NAME=Apache modssl
ARCH=sparc
VERSION=2.8.9
CATEGORY=system
VENDOR=none
[email protected]
CLASSES=none
(you might want to change the 'email' setting
Now run 'pkgmk -o' and you will find your new package in /var/spool/pkg.
To install (only now do we need root permissions):
pkgadd Apmodssl
If you were to install mod-ssl the 'regular' way (recompiling all of
apache etc) it would modify the httpd.conf for you, quite extensively.
This procedure (on purpose) does not modify the httpd.conf at all.
Some of the changes you will need to activate your modssl are:
Add a 'LoadModule ssl_module libexec/libssl.so'
If your httpd.conf has a ClearModule statement, and then a bunch of
AddModule statements, do as the Romans do and add:
'Addmodule mod_ssl.c'
Add to the type-specifications:
'AddType application/x-x509-ca-cert .crt'
'AddType application/x-pkcs7-crl .crl'
'Listen 80 443'
And a -lot- of SSL specific statments that is a bit much to reproduce
here. Mail me if you get this far. Or run a diff between a pristine
httpd.conf and one mangled by modssl.
Now this all works because Sun explicitly compiled their Apache to work
this way. If you want to know all the flags they used, install the Sun
package SUNWapchS (and reinstall the Apache patch so your sources are up
to date, too). Then look in /usr/src/apache/README.sfw which tells how
they compiled their apache. The procedure above might just as well work
for the SunFreeware version, -if- they compiled with EAPI and
--enable-shared.<br />

The version of Apache that comes default with Solaris might not be compiled for that I am not positive though. I downloaded and compiled Apach 2 and compiled mod_ssl and got it working with no problems you might want to try that.

I play a well known MMORPG (WoW) and my guild recently lost there site due to owner of the site leaving the guild, i had previously mentioned i had a little experience in designing but not developing so they asked me to develop a web site for the guild with DKP (Dragon Kill Points like currency) info, Forum and other features.
basiclly most of the work is done on the site design wise and mockups i just now have to create a forum, so i found an online document showing step by step forum development (using Dreamweaver 8 and impAKT) but a pre-req is i have to have a server set up on my system to create it i have no idea about server set up or maintence and i have never had a site published please any help would be much apreciateded on setting up a server. Apache is already running on your Mac if you are running OS X.
PHP for Mac OS X is free, and can be downloaded from http://www.entropy.ch/software/macosx/php/. There is some good instructions on installing and testing your installation. It also provides links to PHP add-ons, such as MySQL. Great page. I think it should get you started in the right direction.

No.
Serial numbers are Mac only or Windows only. There is a platform swap process (from Mac to PC etc) but only for CS6.
As a CS5 owner, your choices are to either pay to upgrade to CS6 for Mac or join the Cloud.
