How do I deactivate fonts? (Font Agent Pro or Font Explorer)

I purchased Font Agent Pro (3.3.2) and have tried Font Explorer X (1.2.2) and don't know what I am doing wrong--even when I ask them to deactivate all fonts it still looks like all fonts are active in application font menus.
I've had FAP installed for a couple years and have been living with the problem but I would like to get it solved as it is very tedious to scroll through hundreds of fonts to look for what I want.
Font Explorer reported that I had 2400 active fonts. I told it to disable everything it would, now it says there are 376 active fonts, but fonts that are listed as inactive are still available.
What do I do?
John

Since neither are Apple products, you'd be better off contacting Insider support for your Font Agent issues.

  • Font Agent Pro- sharing font sets

    Hi,
I m in need of a font manager that shares fonts within the LAN.
I tried Font Agent Pro, it works well.
But once fonts are shared between 2 systems(say A and B),A has 15 fonts, i need to activate 10 of them in one stretch instead of activating individually so that all 15 fonts are accessible in system B.
Just like sharing fonts in sets, i need to activate fonts(in sharing tab) in sets. Is it possible?
When i share fonts of 2 sets, they do not appear as sets in the shared system. Instead all fonts from 2 sets are mixed up and they r shown.
In the shared system, is it possible to activate one set of fonts(shared)?
If someone has worked with Font Agent Pro, please help me...
    Thank You

contact the FAP guys they will get right back to you .
    FAP also has server software.

  • Font Agent Pro 6 vs Suitcase Fusion 5?

I'm about done with Suitcase and all it's bugs. Has anyone used Font Agent Pro 6 with ID CC 2014? Can you give me the pros/cons?

Any hope that Suitcase will resolve the conflict with Google Chrome re. Helvetica Neue?
I had to run the Suitcase Uninstall program to solve the conflict (worked instantly: restart, webpages load with Helvetica), but I'd like to be able to use a proper font management tool (like Suitcase) for all sorts of Adobe-based work (and not have to mess around with fonts on a constant basis).

BobbyH5280.  Very helpful answer!  I am XP for the next week on CS6.  I did find 3 items that helped.  The fonts are in AI, but are listed on the bottom of the list.  Also in Edit/Preferences/Type, checking "Show Font Names in English" makes the font list easier to read (doesn't appear to change the sort order though), and (with your suggestion) checking "Sow Asian Options" might do something positive.  Thanks to all of you who sent in tips.

  • How can I add system font to Acrobat Pro X?

I tried to use "Edit Document Text" Function. There is an error pop-up as " All or part of the selection has no available system font. You cannot add or delete text using the currently selected font.". How can I add system font to Acrobat Pro X?

It is referring to the fonts installed on your computer - to edit text within a PDF you must have the same font installed (i.e. one with the same PostScript name). Acrobat doesn't have a separate way to load fonts, you install them in the normal way through your operating system control panel after downloading/purchasing the font files from a vendor.

  • How do I deactivate fonts in Adobe applications, CS6, Mac OS 10.6.8?

After years using font management applications (Suitcase, FontExplorer) a couple of years ago suspicion of corrupt fonts led me to strip down to using just FontBook as a minimalist font management tool. It is very cumbersome though that even though in FontBook I deactivate all the fonts I'm not working with or wanting to explore, a huge list shows up in my Adobe applications. How can I control/sync my preferences for which fonts are active or not? I'm a graphic designer, so this is a real annoyance.

You cannot deactivate fonts when the are installed as system fonts. But you can install fonts for some software manufacturer like Adobe for them only in the Application Support in their subfolder is a font.
With InDesign you can also install fonts for InDesign only in InDesign's font folder.
With in InDesign you can also install fonts on a Document level only, if you place them in a folder named "Document fonts" which has to be in the same directory as the INDD file is.
But with the current CC versions you see in the font dialog a star at the left of the font's name. Click on this star, then it will become a Favorite, and then you can click above to filter your favorites only. This will hide all other fonts. This may work for you to reduce the list.

  • Font Agent Pro 4.0.3 font library doesn't show up in Fireworks CS4

My extensive Font Age Pro 4.0.3 library of fonts does not show up in Fireworks CS4. Does anyone know why? The only fonts
Fireworks sees are those controlled by Font Manager. I do not recall this problem with Tiger and Fireworks CS3.
Photoshop CS4 has no problem (yes there is an Auto-Activation Plug-in for Font Agent Pro 4), however did not have a problem not having it when was

Actually, the need to use 3D isn't very apparent in this comp.  I wouldn't use 3D unless there was a reason to do so.

  • How weird is this?  InDesign CC drops 20 of my CS6 Myriad Pro sub-fonts!

Well, I'm  narrowing it down, so I deleted two earlier posts.  It AIN'T Windows 7, and I don't think it's lack of updating Creative Cloud, since I rebooted after that...
In InDesign CS6 all 32 sub-fonts under Myriad Pro show up, and are usable.
If I copy them into my newer InDesign CC, twenty of them disappear, and are not accessible!   [See screenshot]
I can understand why the newer InDesign CC might support fewer fonts, but if I open up InDesign CS6 on MY SAME COMPUTER, at THE SAME TIME, I can still see all 32 of the Myriad Pro sub-fonts, and use them without problems.
But I've searched "everywhere" on my system, and can only see the 12 that CC uses.  Any ideas?

Your encouragement helped me to dig deeper, and I found them in a folder I had looked in the Program Files instead of the Program Files (x86)
    Thanks

  • While editing a scanned pdf, Acrobat will not recognize the current font & change to very different font. How can I choose the font I want to match the current document?

While editing a scanned pdf, Acrobat will not recognize the current font & change to very different font. How can I choose the font I want to match the current document?

Thanks for answering. The version is XI.0.10. I just did the update yesterday hoping that I could now properly edit a scanned pdf document. Yes, it's happening on most all scanned documents. I followed your steps & found the list of fonts used in the document & then attempted to edit. The same occurs. When I type in a correction, I get an error alert... "the original font (in this case Fd 5805) is not available or can't be used in editing. Acrobat is using the font Minion Pro in its place."
When I select the text & right click as you suggested, my only choices are cut, copy, delete or select all, no "edit text".
I have no other options to choose another font. Thanks for any help you can direct my way.

  • Acrobat 9.5.5 Pro - odd font won't go away

I began creating a new form and hadn't checked the default font.  After making about 10 fields I used Preview to enter some text.  Not liking the result, I had a look at the font being used.  Something called, "KozMinPr6N-Regular," which is Japanese.  Never heard of it - have never used it.  Not sure how it became a default.  I changed the font for those 10 fields, reset the default to Helvetica and created another 60 or so fields.
The form printed fine in Acrobat Pro, but when I opened it in Reader (11.0.06) and tried to print using the Print Dialog, I received the message that "The document could not be printed."  I clicked OK (the only option) and a new box opened that said "There were no pages selected to print."  This after I "Selected All" in the print dialog and saw the preview of the document as a thumbnail.
At one point I was instructed to go to the Adobe website to download a font since "the author hadn't included it."  Well, I was the author and apparently it was referring to this Japanese font.
Back to Acrobat, and opening Document Properties > Fonts I see that Japanese font is included, as well as Helvetica.  Yet I've checked ALL of the field properties and there's ONLY Helvetica in use.  Short of starting all over from scratch, how can I fix this?
Also, I looked up Embedding Fonts in the Help dialog, but that's of NO help since it doesn't tell me how to do so - only the pros and cons.
    I'm running OS X 10.9.2.
    Thoughts?  Thank you!

I see, I misread your reference to Reader 11 to mean you were using Acrobat 11, but it looks like it worked out anyway.
The base-14 fonts are special in PDF because they are guaranteed to be available even if they are not embedded. If you select a non-base-14 font for use with a form field, the entire font usually gets embedded, since each glyph it contains has to be available for use with the field. This can take up a lot of space if you do this a lot, and the space isn't reduced if you change back to a base-14 font later because the internal reference to it is not removed. This is caused by the bug I mentioned.
In your case, however, the entire font doesn't get embedded because fonts like it (e.g., large asian fonts with a lot of glyphs, Arial Unicode) would take up too much space if fully embedded. If it did, a 100KB PDF could bloat to 20MB with that one change. Instead, users are expected to have such fonts installed on their system, which is why you were prompted to install the font pack. This despite the fact that the font was not actually used by anything in your document, it was simply the orphaned reference to it that triggered this. This should get fixed in Acrobat eventually so this type of thing doesn't happen again.

  • Moved system fonts now MacBook Pro won't start.

I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro running OS10.9.x and in an attempt to troubleshoot another issue I moved all the system fonts into a folder on the desktop. I didn't delete the font folder, just moved the fonts. When I went to restart the computer all it would do is flash between a white and gray screen and randomly display a progress wheel but won't start up.
Thanks for any help on how to resolve the issue.

Restart the computer with the Command and S keys held down and run the following, replacing the bold text:
    mount -uw /
    mv /Users/username/Desktop/foldername/* /System/Library/Fonts/*
    exit

Thanks a lot for your help.

The PFB files are printer font binary files and they contain a mixture of 7-bit ascii and 8-bit binary characters.
Read the Adobe Type 1 Font Format version 1.1 book (especially Chapter 2: Font Program Organization on page 11).
I wrote an application in "C" that reads .PFB files and makes .PS files that are used to insert into PostScript jobs. Whether it is easy or not depends on your level of proficiency in "C" or whatever language you use.

  • How do I recover a "lost" font in Pages?  The font file appears to exist in my MS Office area.

How do I recover a lost font in pages?  The font management process seems very opaque, lots of areas on the hard drive with font folders.  None seems to match the list of fonts I can pull down from the font menu in Pages.  At the moment, the font I need is Century Gothic, which does reside in the MS Office area, but nowhere else that I can find.  Would greatly appreciate help!
    thanks much,  Eilert

Thanks for the idea, fruhulda.  I just checked (Jul 18) and the "missing" font is there.  However, yesterday I tried a full restart of my computer, and it seemed to fix (?) the problem, so I still am not sure what happened.  At any rate, the problem is now gone.
