How do i deauthorize a computer? i had to reinstall itunes x.x

ive had to reinstall itunes a couple times and now i have 4 computer out of 5 computers authorized. How do i fix that?

Reinstalling iTunes does not take up authorizations unless you reinstalled the Operating System on the computer and then installed iTunes.
There is nothig to do until all 5 authorizations have been used.
If you have authorized computers that are no longer being used and still have access to them, go to Store > Deauthorize computer to deauthoriz them.
Otherwise you'll want to deauthorize all once you get to the 5 computer limit.

Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option (shift on Windows) key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

    Thanks

    - Transfer iTuns purchases:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program lke one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right-clicking on the iPOd under Devices in iTunes and selecting Back Up.
    - Restore the iPod from that backup. That should also get you the update.
    - If in the USA, you can also redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • How do I deauthorize a computer that had an unrecoverable harddrive crash?

My main iTunes computer crashed earlier this summer. Didn't think it was that big of a deal because I was able to rebuild most of my library on a new computer using my iPod. Now I see it's a problem with iTunes 9 and home sharing. I've authorized my "now" main computer, but it's still looking for the old library on the computer that's dead. Now I want to deauthorize that computer so that I can set my new one to be the primary. Any ideas?
BTW...the new main computer is Windows XP, and one of my other computers that I want to connect with home sharing is a Vista. Is this going to be a problem?

You can't deauthorise 'dead' installations or computers you no longer have access to individually. However once you reach the limit of 5 authorisations you have the option to deauthorise them all in one go from your iTunes account and start over. *Just note that you can only use this option once a year*: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

  • Computer crashed had to reinstall itunes

This may sound stupid but I had to get a new hard drive and so all of my songs from iTunes are gone now that I reinstalled it. What I'm wondering is that if I hook my iPod up to the computer if all of my songs will be deleted off of it since none of them are in iTunes?

Nevermind, found a previous post that answered my question.

how do i deauthorize a computer i no longer have? or has broken down on me and never had a chance to deauthorize it

If you did not deauthorize before selling, you have to deauthorize all from your actual computer:
Remember to deauthorize your computer before you sell it, give it away, or get your computer serviced. Also, make sure you deauthorize your computer before you upgrade your RAM, hard disk or other system components, or reinstall Windows. If you do not deauthorize your computer before you upgrade these components, one computer may use multiple authorizations.

If you've got 5 computers authorised for the account in question, and you need to free up authorizations, I'd do a "Deauthorize All" from one of the computers you have access to, and then reauthorize the computers you have access to.
For instructions, see the following document:
iTunes Store: About authorization and deauthorization
(Best to deauthorise a computer before you reinstall the OS on it.)

You can only deauthorise individual computers directly on them. Otherwise if you've reached the 5 computer limit, then you should be able to log into your iTunes account and 'deauthorise all' (which you can only do once every 12 months) and you can then (re-)authorise up to 5 computers : authorising and deauthorising.

I had my computer worked on recently.  When I got it back, I had to reinstall itunes.  I synced my iphone and lost all my contacts.  How do I get them back?

Synch your contacts back from whichever program on your computer you've stored them in (Outlook, Address Book) or from your cloud service.
Not using your phone as indended and didn't have your contacts on your computer or with a cloud service?  Then they're gone.

  • How do I deauthorize a computer that does not have access to the internet

How does one deauthorize a computer that cannot connect to the internet?

You can deauthorize all computers linked to your Apple ID from another computer with Internet access.
To deauthorize all computers associated with your Apple ID
If you need to authorize your new computer and are unable due to already having five authorized computers, you can deauthorize all computers by doing the following:
Click iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes.
If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
Click the Account button again (your Apple ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.
Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than two authorized computers. If you need assistance on using this feature, please contact iTunes Store support via email (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/).

  • I had my computer repaired, and when I got it back I had to reinstall iTunes. Now iTunes won't authorize this computer because it says we already have 5 devices authorized, but this is the same computer. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Deauthorizing won't delete anything, and all your purchased content is safe.  You will just have to reauthorize any of the other computers that get deauthorized along with your computers old machine id.
To get your purchased content back on that computer, just use iTunes to redownload it (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US).  Of course, music you ripped from CD or got from another source you'll need to copy those files back over.

    Hi MrsMoosie,
I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues with your iPad. If your iPad isn't responding or doesn't appear to be charging, you may find the information and troubleshooting steps outlined in the following articles helpful, in particular the following portion:
If you don't see the charging screen within an hour, or you see the connect to power screen, check your connector, USB cable, and power adapter. Make sure that everything is plugged in firmly, free of debris, and not damaged. You might want to try a different USB cable or power adapter.
