How do i deauthorize a single device?

Setting up a new computer and trying to migrate my iTunes library.  When I attempt to turn on home sharing, it tells me that I already have 5 devices tied to my account.  I only find an option to deauthorize all.  Is there a way to deauthorize a single system?

Nevermind, I found the answer in one of the gazillion other posts on the same subject.

Yes, iTunes will prompt you for your iTunes account name and password when you attempt to de-authorise, regardless of whether you are already signed in.

  • How do I deauthorize a dead device?

We have installed new computers at my workplace and I did not get a chance to deauthorize my old computer before itunes was installed on the new one.  How can I deauthorize the old one so as to free up one of my allowable devices?

Use the Deauthorize All command documented in this article.

Just enabled home sharing between my primary PC and a secondary laptop.  iTunes alerted me that I've now established home sharing on 4/5 devices.  I don't know what the other 2 devices are - how can I deauthorize them?

  • HT202213 how do I deauthorize a single computer (not my own) from my account?

I need to deauthorize my daughter's computer from my account.  I've only been able to figure out how to deauthorize my own or all accounts - can't figure out how to select one other.  Any help appreciated - thanks.

On your daughter's computer you need to use Store > Deautorize Computer and enter your Apple ID and password.
If you don't have access to her computer, but have 5 authorized in total, you can deauthorize all then reauthorize the ones that you want to. You can't repeat that process for a year.

  • HT4557 How do you deauthorize an ios device or computer from homesharing?

I am trying to authorize my new computer to homesharing and i am told i already have 5 devices. How would i go about deauthorizing some of them?

    Note:
Authorisation and Deauthorisation ONLY applies to Computers...
If you no longer have, or access to, the computer(s) you want to deauthorise,
Log in to iTunes,  go to "view your account info" on the itunes store, deauthorise all five,
(Please Note: this can only be done Once every 12 months).
Then re-authorize your current Computer(s) one at a time.

I am trying to add a new pc to my homeshare network. When trying to do so it tells me that I already have 5 devices sharing my itunes. How do I deauthorize these other devices that I am no longer using, when I don't have access to them any longer?

If you no longer have the computers you want to deauhtorize,
go to "view your account info" on the itunes store,
deauhtorize all five, and then re-authorize your Computers one at a time.

  • How do i deauthorize devices i no longer can operate?

Hi, my ipod was stolen last spring and my old ibook just died. I got a new macbook and I want to deauthorize the other two devices. How do I do that if I no longer have them to hook up and do it automatically?

    hi,
if you no longer have your devices, I do not know any way to deauthorized them. what you could do instead of deauthorized single device is to use the "deauthorized all" option as described is this article; http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93014
this will reset all your authorization. you must be aware that this option could only be used once a year.

How can I maintain two separate itunes accounts on one single device (iPhone 4) without erasing either set of data when syncing with itunes?

    Hi,
Depends on what you trying to setup but for purchases, you can roll down at the very end of the iTunes/AppStore pages to logout of your current account and then login into a different one.  Then your purchase will be billded to this new account.  Everything will sync as you used to but in order to use the purchased content in iTunes or other devices, you will need to authorize them (you can have up to 5 devices authorized for an account).

  • How do I deauthorize a device I've already sold?

I currently have 4 devices authorized to my Apple ID: My MacBook, my iPhone, my iPod touch and my iPad. The problem is, I've copmletely wiped and logged out of all accounts on my iPad, and sold it. I'm not sure if it's still authorized to my Apple ID. If so, how would I deauthorize it without deauthorizing all of my other devices?

See iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization for Macs.
See How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld for Windows.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it.

You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

  • I just bought a macbook and tried to add it to my home share but got a message that there were too many devices.  How do I deauthorize machine I nolonger have?

I just bought anothe macbook and tried to add it to my home share but got a message about too many devises.  How do I deauthorize machine I no longer have as I am sure some of those I threw out had itunes?

You'll have to log in to your iTunes account. On the Account Information page click on the 'Deauthorize All' button. You will have to re-authorize all the computers you presently want to associate with the iTunes account. (See screen shot below.)
In the future, to avoid having to deauthorize all and then re-authorize, select 'Deauthorize This Computer…' from the 'Store' menu on the computer you no longer want to use with the iTunes account.
