How do I deauthorize an account on a computer that crashed?

My laptop crashed and I had to reinstall the original software. When I attempted to reinstall iTunes, I was unable to, because I had reached the maximum devices on my account. I tried deleting the device from the list on my account and did so successfully, but it still lists 5 devices. How do I deauthorize a device that has crashed?

I think you'll have to unauthorize all then re-authorize ones you want unless this works

I'm trying to authorize my account on another computer to enable home sharing, but a dialog box appears, saying: "You can only authorize your account on 5 computers at a time. Please deauthorize your account on another comuter" or some such tripe. At any rate, besides it being complete BS that i've authorized it on 4 computers other than the current one, the other computers are out of commission. How do I deauthorize my account remotely from all these other computers?

You can only individually de-authorise computers directly on those computers, you can't do it remotely. If you've reached the 5 limit then you can de-authorise all (which you can do once every 12 months) and then re-authorise the computer(s) that you still use : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420

Log in to iTunes, go to "view your account info" on the itunes store, deauthorise all five,
(Please Note: this can only be done Once every 12 months)

You cannot, nor do you need to, until you reach the limit of 5. Once you reach 5, then you can deauthorize all, and then authorize the active computers.

You can use any computer but your data will be lost if you have no backup.

If you still have the crashed Win computer, you may be able to recover your music and movies from the hard drive. If you have a friend with a hard drive USB connection kit and a PC, they should be able to help. Otherwise, check locally for computer services that might do that for you (I think Best Buy Geek Squad may be able to help). If the drive itself is in good shape, it shouldn't be too expensive.
