How do I delete a corrupted podcast?

2nd generation iPod Touch. Has had lots of issues since purchase.
Touch froze playing a podcast, restarted itself, and now the podcast won't play and can't be deleted (and I can't sync the iPod). You can't draw your finger across the podcast & delete it. In the Listening menu instead of displaying "NPR Sunday Puzzle" it displays "Unknown (2 episodes)". When I tap on that, instead of displaying the podcasts to choose from it says "No Music".
I deleted the podcasts from iTunes and tried to sync but that didn't help.
If I had an up to date back-up I'd restore it like I've done TOO many times before, but I haven't been able to get the iPod to sync since then, even after following Support's instructions to deselect each category (Photos, Music, Info, etc.) and re-sync until you get a good sync.
iTunes and iPod software are up to date.
Any ideas before I throw it out the window?

Thank you. I was operating under the impression that in order to have a back-up I would need a successful sync, which I hadn't been able to do since the corrupted podcast situation. When I poked around looking for the Back-up feature you mentioned (and hadn't known that it existed independently of the sync feature) I surprisingly found a current back-up in iTunes Preferences Devices. So I resynced deselecting the podcasts (thereby removing them from the iPod despite getting the same Error 13019), restored the iPod and am good to go. That is, until the next time.

If you mean from iTunes on your computer, launch iTunes and the go to Edit>Preferences>Devices. Find your backup in the window. Click on it to select or. Click on delete. You can also right click on the backup and select delete from the contextual menu.
I Don't think you would know if an iCloud backup was corrupt, but you delete those in Settings>iCloud>Storage and Backup>Manage Storage>Backup Name>Delete Backup.

My TimeCapsule sparsebundle file is corrupt and cannot be opened by TimeMachine anymore. However I cannot delete it either, error message: "The process could not be completed as the object "bands" is in use." (my translation from my German original: "Der Vorgang konnte nicht abgeschlossen werden, da das Objekt "bands" in Verwendung ist")
ANY IDEA HOW I CAN DELETE THAT SPARSEBUNDLE WITHOUT FORMATTING EVERYTHING?
Maybe you need the whole story to come up with some good ideas, this is how it came:
- I bought a new 500GB TimeCapsule and tried to do a first backup. It ran the whole night through and wasnt done the next morning. However I had to leave to work and had to cancel it at 80% or so.
- I tried it again on the weekend, but hat to cancel again after dozens of hours of slow backup without success. Finally the sparsebundle file had grown to several hundred GB and I thought I better delete it before trying to backup again.
- Hence: I picked the file and delete, confirmed that it would be deleted straight away (without being moved to the basket before), it started deleting but stopped half way.
- SO NOW: i can neither use the file through timemachine, nor get rid of the file to start timemachine again.

I tried downgrading the firmware back to 7.3 and that didn't work for me either, neither did resetting the Time Capsule.
It ended up that my sparsebundle was in indeed corrupted (for the 2nd time now) which is completely crazy to me!...
I did find out *WHY my sparsebundle kept getting corrupted*:
I learned that when time machine is turned on, if the computer goes to sleep, about 50% of the time, that will "corrupt" the sparsebundle!
What I had to do last night was delete my sparsebundle (again) and then do the dreaded, long "first backup" all over (overnight).
I made a point to go to the "*energy saver*" on my preferences to change the settings on it so that it wouldn't put the MacBook to sleep (both on the battery and power options) so that my sparsebundle won't get corrupted again!
This was really frustrating, and that little piece of information should be included with the Time Capsule for consumers so that they can avoid the frustrations that we've all apparently been having. I'm suprised at Apple, and a little disappointed in all of the time that I spent/lost dealing with the Time Machine and Time Capsule.

I am not a computer person so before I say anything, just please don't allow your disdain of me to come through in your replies.
Somehow I have 44,000 images in my iPhoto library and I am guessing that half of them are corrupted duplicates (and triplicates, etc.) that won't even open. I also have the original images in the library which are not corrupted.
My question is how do I delete all the corrupted duplicates and simplify the library so that there are NO duplicates? I have no reason to have any duplicates.
Also, these corrupted duplicates may have been mistaken for the real photos and the real photos (some of them) are now sitting in the Trash folder.
I have made a mess of things. Can anyone help me fix this?

I have tried for days now to rebuild my iPhoto library to no avail and now I want to wipe the slate clean and build my library again from zero. To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

When i attempt to redownload the song, i get another error message that tells me the download could not be completed. I purchased and downloaded my second audiobook last weekend but after 4 hours into the first part, the audio stopped and then it skipped to part 2. I could not find a way to redownload my purchase again for audiobooks. I emailed support and they put another copy for me to download and told me to delete the file before downloading. Since I did not know how to delete the file without plugging into iTunes on my PC, i did so, but the sync started automatically - I thought it was not marked to not do it automatically - and so the download proceeded. Now the version on my PC appears to be working and not skipping. When I did a sync to my iTouch, it did not overwrite the bad file - it still skips oabout 4 hours. I thought if I could delete it off the iTouch, the good version might then download, but I do not know how to delete it on just the iTouch.

I unchecked the audiobook in iTunes and then ran an autosync - apparently it has to autosync - and the bad file disappeared on the iTouch. I then checked the audiobook again, did another sync and when I went to the place where there was a problem and checked the sound, it looks like the new good file is now on my iTouch. Hope this helps someone else.

Make sure you're using the list view. Click on the expansion triangle next to the name of the podcast. At that point you should see each individual episode. Highlight the one you want to remove and press delete.

I am currently experiencing the grayed out videos (from podcasts). They only exist on my iPhone 4s, not in iTunes. I've tried swiping them to get the red "Delete" button, tried various syncing/unsynching of Podcasts within iTunes. I cannot get them to appear active so that I may delete them. Strangely the easiest way if you have a windows computer or can take to a friend and access the TC via windows explorer and it will probably see the directory and be able to delete it. You cannnot delete a greyed out directory from the Mac .. as you have permissions issues. If you created this directory inside the sparsebundle of TM.. it belongs to TM not the user.. and that is why you cannot delete it. Never create a directory inside the TM sparsebundle.. it must be directly into the root directory of the drive.

On 2/29/12, Windows reported that sessionstore-38.js was corruput and unreadable and requested I run CHKDSK. I run it but this file was not deleted. Also, it has resulted in my Firefox session restores to be "frozen" (same windows and tabs) to back on 2/29 when this bad file situation started on 2/29/12. I've even tried using new sessions but Firefox constantly reverts back to the old set of windows and tabs from 2/29 whenever the session drops. Help me please!!!

Numbers in sessionstore file names can indicate that Firefox had a problem replacing your old session file with a new one.
