How do I delete a default text message (template) that I appear to have accidentally created?

Every time I want to send a text message and I start from scratch or I forward a text from my inbox an old message appears as a sort of template that I have to delete before I type my new message. I don't know how I created this "template" but its very annoying as it is a long message that I need to delete every time.. I would be grateful if anyone can tell me how to clear it..

Reset the Device using this method:  Hold the home button + the lock button for about 10-12 seconds until the Apple logo appears.  You will not lose any data or current settings.

That's a great way to clear up memory and speed things up, 357tony. What message app do you use with your S4? Is it Messaging, Message+, or one downloaded from the Play Store?

  • How do I  delete a single text message from iPhone 6,I don't have a trash can.

How do I delete a single text message from conversation on I phone 6 ?  I don't have a trash can & touching "edit" will only delete the all messages from that person.

Thanks for your reply, deggie, but as I stated in the original question I do not have  a trash can.   However, I went to the Verizon store and after many attempts to locate a trash can the sales rep turned off the phone with both buttons held down.  When the apple came back the trash can came back. He had never seen that problem before so we both learned something !

  • How do I delete a large text message I sent that glitches the message app?

I just recently sent a REALLY large text message to my friend, but I don't think she actually got it. Since I sent this really big text I can't open the app for messages. Well, I can but it is frozen in the convo I sent the text in and after about 3 seconds the app closes back to the home screen. In the few seconds that I can keep the app open I tried to press the back button (on the upper left hand corner), to delete the convo so that is gets rid of the message. But, like I said before, it is frozen so it won't go anywhere. Also, while the app is open for a few seconds I tried holding the large text to delete it, but again the app is frozen so will do absolutely nothing. I really don't know how to to delete the convo or message to get the app working again. Please tell me if there is any other way to get the app working again. I have thought of resetting me phone, but that would be my last resort. I have a ton of valuable information I have to keep. Thank you!

  • I restored my phone but it restored to the only back up i had which was 2 months ago. Now none of the settings i have are up to date on what i had. How do i get all the text messages from that backup up to today?

I tried to update my phone, but it died so i had to restore it. The only back up i had was from 2 months ago. How do i get all the settings back from that huge gap of me not syncing it?

Please read before going through with this procedure.
If you really want your contact back and you did not do another iCloud backap since you deleted some of your contacts, you can do a hard reboot on both devices with iClouded contacts by holding down the home and lock buttons on each of them for 10 seconds ignoring the slide to turn off thing. Make sure you have iCloud contact services off before doing so. You can then go through the whole set up process until you get up to the backup part. You then press to restore from an iCloud backup (make sure you choose the right backup for the right phone). If you didn't make an iCloud backup before the contact incident, you will have to use your two-month-old iTunes backups. Each phone should have their contacts the way they were from your last backup. You then go into Settings>iCloud>and turn off contacts. You then can choose if you want to keep your current contacts or not. Turn this off on both phones just incase you add another iCloud device to the mix later on. Now your contact lists are no longer linked (Caution: side effect may include lack of edit button). You may now add and delete contacts as you please without it happening on your other phone.
    Thank you for choosing Apple.

If the "other" is greater than about 1 1/2 GB  usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files.  Usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.
    To restore from backup see:

  • How do I delete a LARGE text message conversation?

My message app is taking up nearly 6GB, so I exported all of my messages to an excel file and backed it up to my computer.  However, now I can't delete the one conversation that is so large.  When I swipe to delete it, it keeps my app busy, making it impossible to send/receive texts while it attempts to delete it.  Then, when I disable to app and reboot the device, the conversation is restored.  I know that it takes the phone time to delete such a large file, so accounting for this, I even swiped to delete it just before I went to bed one night and let it work all night -- the conversation was still restored after I rebooted the phone the next morning.  Do I just need to wait even longer?  Is there anyway to get into the software and actually delete the file manually rather than having to wait for the phone to effectively delete it?

That doesn't address my problem at all, really.  The conversation contains over 80,000 messages and I want to delete all of them to free up the 6GB it's taking up on my phone.  It is so large that the phone can't effectively delete it, so I'm trying to figure out another way to delete it other than the ineffective swiping method (and I think it'd take me years to go through and delete 80k messages, 50 messages at a time).  Thanks for trying, though.

  • TS2755 how do i delete all past text messages

when i go to the search i phone all messages i have sent or recieved are there i want these off my phone is there a way to delete these and also contacts from a deleted face book page dont want these there either

this is stored in a cache memory in the phone and you can only get rid of it by restoring the phone as new and all your data/settings will be lost.  the memory is eventually overwritten so I suggest you just ignore it

How do I permanently delete photos or text messages?

    diesel,
When I look for an answer to a problem, especially a question that might already be answered, it's because: 1) I need an answer right away, and might not be able to wait a few hours or days for someone to respond, 2) I often don't know if a feature or problem was there from the early iPhones or is brand new, so my first thought is not "that answer is old, therefore irrelevant."
I know, "read the User's Guide." You sound like Mrs. Suggs, my third grade teacher. If I had taken up someone's time by posting a new question, I get the feeling you would have told me "Don't ask questions there are already answers to." But thank you for your help.

  • Delete only one text message at a time w/o deleting entire conversation?

Does anyone know how to delete only one text message at a time without having to delete the entire conversation? The only two options I get are "clear conversation" or "cancel."
    HP   Windows XP

That's the same option I get too. It seems to me I recall seeing somewhere that you could delete individual messages in a thread but I don't remember where.
It seems silly to limit deletions to only the entire conversation since with most phones you can delete individual messages.

  • How do I delete an individual text completely off my phone

How do I delete an individual text completely off my phone, so that the timestamp of the deleted text doesn't appear anymore.
ios 8, seems to keep deleted texts on the phone, if I delete a text message it will be removed from the message app but the person who I texted and the timestamp of the message still stays. this ends up showing the person in my messages with a timestamp for a message that doesn't exist.

Well you can try this, but I'm not sure it's going to work if this is an entirely new ID.
Go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • How can I look at old text messages

How can I look at old text messages that I haven't deleted my phone just won't load to let me go up that far.?

As Ann said, it does depend on your phone.  One third party app that works on many phones (especially older models, but not all phones) is BitPim ( http://www.bitpim.org/ ) but it can potentially harm/brick your phone if you don't know what you are doing - use it with caution.  I have used it successfully to get texts and photos off an old flip phone that was deactivated and had no sd card.
Newer smartphones can download apps that will give you the ability to print out texts.

  • How do you receive iMessages as text messages?

I have my iMessage off, and my friend has her iMessage on. When she sends me iMessages I'm suppose to recieve them as text messages, but I don't receive them as all. She has her "Send as SMS" on. I don't know why I'm still not recieving them. Does the iMessage on my Macbook affect me from recieving iMessages from her? And how come I can't recieve text messages from her?
I've tried this with my sister's phone with "Send as SMS" on and I can recieve her messages. So I'm assuming something's off on my friend's phone. Does the "Send & Recieve" have anything to do with this problem?
    Thanks!

Have her delete the message thread and remove your email address from her contact for you.
