How do I delete Add Security Exceptions popup box

I changed the port for my gmail account which I read in Thunderbird in error and now get the popup Add Security Exception which states "You are about to override how Thunderbird identifies this site. I don't want to override this! just get rid of popup.

I've done the same thing, and can't pick up my email in Thunderbird without addressing the pop-up. How do I re-do everything and get Gmail into Thunderbird correctly? Thanks!

  • How do I delete a Security Exception from the list of items where 'Confirm Security Exception' has been selected?

I looked at all the previous solutions, some of which were the same., but they didn't answer my question.
    Firefox 17.01
    Ubuntu 12.04
    If I go to
    Edit --> Preferences --> Advanced --> Encryption
it looks like 'View Certificates' is the likeliest place to look for the Security Exceptions resulting from me clicking 'Confirm Security Exception'.
I have looked at the five tabs on the next dialog box 'Certificate Manager', and the most likely looks like the 'Servers' tab.
On this tab, I can see that there is a button to 'Add Exception...', but nowhere to 'Show Exceptions', and the 'Add Exception...' button only provides means to add a new exception.

Correct: you can find the exceptions under the '''Servers''' tab. Unlike other entries, your custom exceptions should have the '''Server''' column filled out; this should make them easier to locate. Select an entry, then click the '''Delete...''' button.

  • Getting security exception dialogue box. How do I know this is valid to allow an exception? Especially with the SSL bug out there?

Worried about Heartbleed bug. Getting "Add Security Exception" when sending e-mail. How can I verify this change is accurate?

Normally Firefox talks directly to the mail server, but there are a few reasons that an intermediate program or server might intercept your mail session. Not all of these are good reasons.
Some security suites include a filtering feature. In order to filter secure connections (HTTPS URLs), the security software presents a fake certificate to Firefox so it can intercept and stand in the middle of the secure connection. To have Firefox trust these certificates, you may need to do something such as import a root certificate, or click something in your security software's settings.
But... many users are finding that rogue software they didn't realize they had installed is the culprit.
When you are offered the option to add a security exception, does Thunderbird let you view the problem certificate? For example, in Firefox, you can click the Add Exception button in the error page, then in the dialog click View Certificate or Get Certificate to see the Issued by section. You do not need to finish adding an exception.
We want to get to the "Issued by" section of the certificate, as this often points to the source of the problem.
The kind of issuer you might find is:
    * Name associated with your security software, such as ESET, BitDefender, etc.
    * Sendori (indicates unwanted software from Sendori)
    * FiddlerRoot (indicates unwanted software named similarly to BrowserSafeguard, BrowserSafe, SafeGuard)
    * Something else
    What do you see?

    Hi,
If you want to remove the add-ins of Office 2010 programs, you need to remove it from control panel.
For example, if you use Excel, please try to follow the link to delete the add-ins:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/add-or-remove-add-ins-HP010342658.aspx
If I misunderstand something, please let me know.

  • If I can always use a passcode instead of Touch ID, how does Touch ID add security?

Am I missing something?  Even if I have Touch ID enabled, I can always use my passcode instead of Touch ID.  So, how does Touch ID *ADD* security?
I can understand always requiring passcode IN ADDITION to Touch ID at particularly sensitive moments (e.g. changing security), but by allwoing passcode to bypass Touch ID, it seems to me that Touch ID adds convenience but not security.
    What am I missing?

Does anyone know if Apple (or any of the iPhone vendors, such as Verizon, whom I have used) has claimed that Touch ID ADDS security? If so, can someone explain to me why this is not mis-represenation?  I don't mean to be inflammatory, but the dictionary definition of misrepresentation is "the action or offence of giving a false or misleading account of the nature of something" (from Google).
This is a user-to-user technical support forum. Answering questions about what companies have or have not said and the legality of those statements is way outside the purview of this forum. Additionally, speculating on Apple's policies is specifically a violation of the Terms of Use of this forum.
However, I think the first paragraph of this overview from Apple gives a good idea of way "convenience" is nothing to belittle. If it encourages people to use passwords who would not otherwise do so, those people's phones are certainly more secure.

  • How to script the add certificate exception in Firefox 32.0.2 ?

    Hi,
I meet some issues with the Firefox certificates management. Here is my context:
    - Firefox v32.0.2 on Windows 7 32 bits
    - a self-signed certificate created with OpenSSL 32 bits
    - Firefox and self-signed certificate have been deployed on 11000 workstations with some automated process (scripts).
The self-signed certificate is used to securize data flows with https protocol between two WebServices and different applications. There is no security problem with Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome.
I have already deployed and installed the self-signed certificate with an Microsoft Active Directory GPO (there is an addon GPO for FireFox) and it is OK
    Issue:
When the application WebService calls Firefox, a message indicates to the users that the connection can't be certified and ask them to add an exception.
the WS URL is appeared and the users must click on "Confirm security exception" (the checkbox "Conserv this exception permanently" must be checked)
It is a bit "dangerous" to let the users with these different choices and this is not very friendly.
So, I want to create a script which automates all these manipulations and deploy this script with a GPO.
Is it possible ? How can I script this certificate exception and the different choices?
Thanks a lot by advance for your help
    Best regards

  • How do I delete Kaspersky Security for Mac

I have tried to delete Kaspersky Security for Mac many times but the icon still comes up to tell me to renew. How do I delete the icon and the program?

You can contact Kaspersky support for uninstall issues here.
Anti virus software is invasive and difficult to remove. If you can't resolve the problem directly from Kaspersky, backup all important data then reformat the disk and reinstall OS X.
For v10.7 Lion, v10.8 Mountain Lion, or v10.9 Mavericks:  Startup your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you should be able to access the built in utilities to reformat the disk and reinstall OS X.
For OS X prior to v10.7, startup from your install disc while holding down the C key.

  • How can I disable the Security Settings popup in Acrobat XI?

We are currently using Acrobat X and are getting ready to upgrade to version XI. We dynamically set the security settings w/a button in the toolbar menu to secure documents. Works great. However, while testing the same functionality in version XI a popup always appears when this function is called. The settings are correct in the security setting popup but we do not need the popup to actually appear. Is there a way to disable the popup from appearing? It's confusing my users.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Adobe generally has quarterly updates for Acrobat/Reader. If they decide to fix this, I'd be surprised if it made the first one (January 2013?), so it would probably be more like April/July, but that's just a guess. When you submit the bug report, be sure to include how much this negatively affects your workflows and prevents you from upgrading.

  • Why can't I delete my security exception??

I allowed a security exception for a website I thought was a familiar one, but found out later it was not (one letter difference in the address-grrr). By going to tools, option, encryption, and view certificates, it allowed me to delete it under "servers", but will not allow me to do ANYTHING to it, not even view it, under authorities and others (it appears in both sections). Is this bad? Is there a way to get it off my computer??

Sorry, I got swamped at work and haven't been able to reply to you! My computer has been running like crap ever since I allowed the exception, but it may just be a coincidence. Everything is really slow now and Mozilla keeps "not responding", even though I updated it.

  • TS3230 Safari on iPad, how do I delete add ons

My iPad browser is popping videos everywhere, I have deleted everything I can find, but it must be adware?? How do I delete it on an iPad?

Go to Settings>Safari>Block Popups>On. That will disable Popups, but some sites may use popups that you need to access so keep that in mind for the future.
Clear Safari, close the app and reset the iPad as well.
    Settings>Safari>Clear Cookies and data.
In order to close Safari, drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Cannot add security exception for government websites

Ever since my most recent update in Firefox 4.0.1, I am no longer able to "add exception" for government websites I normally visit. The "Untrusted Connection" screen appears as it has many times in the past and when I try to click "add exception" nothing happens. This happens on any website with an "Untrusted Connection".

If you install the DoD CA 2 root certificate and possibly the DOD CA-17 intermediate certificate then you do not need to add an exception.

  • How do I review the Security Exceptions I have approved?

A site I've been using for months just popped up the security exception screen again. I know I cleaned out some things on this browser a couple of days ago, so I wonder if my Security Exceptions are included. But I can't find where Firefox stores those.
    Thanks!

    Do you mean certificates ?
*Tools > Options > Advanced : Encryption: Certificates - View Certificates
You can copy the file cert8.db to transfer the stored intermediate certificates.
If you made exceptions (not recommended) then it is best to see if you can install missing intermediate certificates instead of adding an exception.
A possibility is to check the website via a website like added below and save and install certificates that are marked red to indicate that they are not send.
