How do I delete an e-mail address on the iPhone? (Already removed from contacts)

Hi - I have a few friends that have changed e-mail addresses.  I have removed the old e-mail address from my contacts on my iPhone, however, when I go to begin a new e-mail to them the old e-mail address still shows up as an option.  I have already sent e-mails to the incorrect e-mail address a couple of times and I'd really like to delete these incorrect e-mail addresses completely from the iPhone.  I have a PC (not a MAC) and my contacts are through my Yahoo e-mail account.  I have deleted the incorrect addresses on the Yahoo account on my PC (not that it should matter anyway - since they aren't synced).

iCloud is free (5GB) with iOS 5 you should look into it, makes syncing contacts and editing much easier. To delete an email address you select the contact from the address book, press edit, there will be a red circle with a white line through it, press that then press delete. Then add their new email and press done. If its still coming up the only thing I can think of is if you have an old email in your mail app from their old email address and that may be what is causing the old address to come up.
Try this link for syncing your yahoo contacrs.

  • How can I delete old e-mail addresses?

I have the original iPhone and I want to know if there is a way to delete e-mail addresses from the "to:" drop down. It gets bothersome when they are not your contact's e-mails but instead e-mails addresses of people you have no longer contact with.

All email recipients are stored by the iPhone in what is called a list of previous recipients. The "To drop down" or autofill feature pulls from your iPhone's address book and the list of previous recipients. At the present time, there is not a way to access the list of previous recipients to remove previous recipients from the list, or add a previous recipient to the iPhone's address book that is not already entered.
The only way to completely purge the list of previous recipients at the present time is restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup. The list of previous recipients is included with your iPhone's backup.

Take a look at this Apple doc -> Frequently asked questions about Apple ID

If you've forgotten your Apple ID Password or want to change it, go to My Apple ID and follow the instructions. See How to change your Apple ID password if you'd like more information.
If that doesn't work for you, contact Apple via Express Lane.

  • How do I transfer Yahoo e-mail addresses to the Contact app?

How can I transfer my e-mail addresses from my Yahoo address book to the Contact app on the main screen of the iPod touch? If I go into my Yahoo mail on the iPod, the addresses are there but if I click directly on the Contacts app on the main screen it's blank. I'm just setting up my new IPod touch and I've read and re-read the synch directions over and over but other than just plugging it in there's nothing that tells me HOW to move the addresses to the "Contact app" where I'd like to be able to access them from. I'm thinking there must be a better way than to enter everything manually...
Thanks in advance for your help!

Now I have and it worked perfectly!!! Thanks very much. When I went into the iTunes the first time, I missed all the tabs across the top of that screen. For a beginner, the whole iTunes thing is way to busy! My opinion ofcourse. Thanks again!

  • How do I delete unwanted e-mail addresses

Did a search but couldn't find any answer.
I know how to delete addresses (cards, individuals) from the address book, but how do I delete unwanted addresses from the mail-program memory, or maybe it's the address-book memory? Whatever it is, it stores the addresses of everybody I ever communicate with whether they're physically in my address book or not.
Now my wife has a new e-mail address, her old one is no longer functional, but every time I type her name into the "to" box, it automatically fills in the old address. How do I get rid of it?
    Stephan Wilkinson

Select Previous Recipients from Mail's Windows menu. You can delete one or more from the list. This will not affect Mail's selecting from your Address Book.

  • How can I delete and e-mail address from thunderbird?

I tried to download my e-mail address to thunderbird, but the spelling of the domain was wrong. I then added the e-mail account with a correctly spelled name. Now I have two e-mail accounts and it keeps trying to connect with the wrong one. I need to get it deleted from the account.

From the menu bar select Tools-Account Settings
    Select the account to remove.
At the bottom of the account list select Account Actions-Remove Account
No menu bar? Press the alt key.

Hmm, I poked around in my address book and apparently I had two entries for both of my children (the offending emails):  one with first and last name, and one with only first names.  I had updated email addresses in the ones which had both first and last names but didn't delete the address book entries with just the first names.  I didn't realize they were even in my address book.  Problem fixed now.

  • HT5622 How do I change my e-mail address on my iphone for my icloud account

The e-mail address showing on my iphone for my icloud account isn't correct, I no longer use the e-mail and no longer have a password or access to it. I have amended my icloud account on a PC but it still shows the old e-mail on my phone, its driving me crazy...please help!

Welcome to the Apple Community Lisa.
Firstly, you need to change your details with Apple,  Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account. You may have already done this.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

  • How can I delete a podcast thats only on my iPhone, not synced from iTunes.

I have two podcast episodes that will not delete from my iPhone. They are from a show that I update (by syncing) everyday and appear on the iPhone (since October) but will not erase or appear on iTunes. Can I delete them straight from the iPhone or do I need to connect it with iTunes to delete? It is more of a nuisance than anything else. Thanks for the help.

Yes, you can delete from iphone:
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPhone_iOS4_UserGuide.pdf
It is covered in the manual.
    Page 172:
"Delete a podcast: In the Podcasts list in iPod, swipe left or right over the podcast, then
    tap Delete. "

  • HT4864 How can I delete my e-mail address and password already set.  Child will be taking over the use of this and I am purchasing a new one?

I would like to add another outlook address and preferably delete the one now associated with iCloud.

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
However, if you are passing the device to someone else you should really erase the whole device.

Are you using Safari, or Chrome? Firefox? If in Safari go to Bookmarks then Show All Bookmarks, look for bookmarks bar, right click on the bookmark and select delete. Chrome and Firefox are similar. Go to Bookmark Manager see where your bookmarks are right click and delete. Hope this helps!

This will get lengthy so bare with me. My wife and I both have an iPhone and we use the same iCloud account. I wanted to set up my Mac to handle my phone calls with the new feature on Yosemite so I went into Preferences on the FaceTime app on my Mac to turn on iPhone Cellular Calls. I know that I can click my phone number above that in the "You can be reached for FaceTime at:" section and it will give me the choice of using my phone number but I only want use my email for FaceTime on my Mac and when only my email is checked for where to be reached at, it doesn't give me an option of what phone number I want the Caller ID to be. If anyone understands that, please help me change the default Caller ID to my own and not my wife's!! Thanks!
