I have upgraded to a new Iphone 5c and i am sending my phone back to 02 but i need to delete my icloud account but i can not do this as i have no connection due to the new phone now working, how can i delete the account from my old phone?

Now go to Settings>iCloud, turn off Find My iPad and enter your current password when prompted (even though it prompts you for the password for your old ID). Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll (unless using iCloud Photo Library). When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out and choose Delete from My iPad when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign back in with your current iCloud ID and password (your data will download back to your device).

I've just changed from an iphone 4s to a 5C. I want to sell my phone but my iphone 4 account has been disabled and it's irreversable. I need to delete my icloud account but as I can't go online, I can't turn off 'Find my Iphone.' Everything else has been deleted but I believe that to sell the phone, I have to have de-activated the account, otherwise it's considered locked.

Thank you, I had already followed the stops as indicated as if I no longer have the iphone and it seems I have done everything I should have done but you have confirmed that I've done all I should have. I can't find this device on 'find my phone' it's gone from the device listing.

I have tried the forgot password option on apple to which it doesnt recognise my birthday as being the same as their records for some reason, and i cant access the reset email as i dont have this address anymore.

you can´t delete an icloud account without using the password.
if you can confirm that your iphone is not locked to icloud device activation with this AppleID your are not aware and you have no access for - you can attempt to "erase all settings and content" on your iphone, to remove the icloud account from your iphone. all your data will be erased and iphone is set to factory settings

Hey Liz,
You should be able to sign out of an iCloud account by going to Settings > iCloud and scroll to the bottom and you will see an option to sign out the account. If you have multiple accounts, then you can go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and choose the account and scroll down to the same sign out option.

I don't think you can delete an iCloud account once it's created; you can just delete the account from all of your devices and stop using it. You can also sign into the account on iCloud.com and delete any content (contacts, calendars, etc.) so it isn't available to any device that may sign into it.

If you intend to keep using iCloud on your iPad, your best course of action would be to update your Apple ID/iCloud information so that you have a known password and it is associated with an active email address. You may find the following articles helpful:

It requires i log into FindMyiPad to delete the iCloud account however the Apple ID has changed therefore the username/password no longer exists.
This is just sending me in circles to log into to a non-existant apple id with no password to delete my iCloud so i can log in with my updated apple ID.

Settings/iTunes and App Store log out then log in with new ID. you might want to change ID in iMessage, FaceTime and Siri and delete the cloud account and create one with new ID. remember apps are forever linked to the ID used to download them and can only be updated with that ID

You can cannot delete an AppleID, you just sign out of all services, stop using it, and start over with a new AppleID. If your ID is an iCloud ID it cannot be changed, see this link.

You need to go to Manage your Apple ID, https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/, and sign in with your current Apple ID and password and do the following:
1.     Edit your current Apple ID and change it back to the ID which is displaying for your iCloud account. You do not need to verify it - this is only a temporary change
2.     Go into Settings>iCloud on your device and delete the iCloud account. Use your current password when your are prompted for a password
3.     Once the old iCloud account is deleted, go back into Manage your Apple ID and change your ID back to the current one
4.     Go back to Settings>iCloud and sign on with your current ID and password
That should take care of your issue!
