How do I delete an "invisible" reminder?

I have a daily item that I wish to delete. It doesn't appear as an event with an alert, or as a reminder. How do I find it to delete it?

Type Moon in iCal's search box. The moon events will be listed in the bottom pane. Select them all and press delete.

  • How do I delete an invisible layer?

I’m using Photoshop Elements 8 (Serial number 1057-1637-2073-1041-6879-1243). The image I’m working with (a book cover) began with a template showing the placement of front cover, back cover, and spine, with bleed on all sides. This appeared as a layer 0 Background. As I used color fill, image and type placement, these appeared as other layers. When I was finished, the Background template layer no longer appeared in the layer column at the right. The whole image appeared as a single layer. I went to ‟Layer‟ and hit ‟Flatten Image.‟ I thought this would eliminate the template layer, but after submitting it as a pdf. file to the printer, I was told that the template layer was still there (and would be printed) and had to be removed. I can‛t figure out how to do this.

  • How do I delete invisible films

My Time Machine backup seams to be very bloated. Currently TM says a full backup is estimated at 169 GB. On the drive that I use, Time Machine Backups takes up 419 GB. I've now stopped backing up Dropbox and the db that goes with it which is invisible. It doesn't make sense to backup Dropbox so I figure there's some space to be gained. I see using TimeTracker that this db is backed up all of the time so my question is, how do I delete this invisible from my TM backups?

First, exclude it from future backups, per #10 in [Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/FAQ.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).
Then, see #A3 in [Time Machine - Troubleshooting|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/Troubleshooting.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum), for a handy app that will let you see invisible items via both the Finder and Time Machine's "Star Wars" display. Once that's in place, see #12 in the FAQ to delete all backups of the hidden item.

  • HT4970 How do I delete a reminder list

I have two reminder lists and the completed one also.   How do I delete one of them; it was created in error when I got the phone.

I have a list called "Tasks" that seems to be associated with an Office365 email account (for my business).  I also have one called "My Calendar" associated with my personal Hotmail account. My two questions are:
    1) Were these created automatically when I added the accounts?
    2) Can I delete these two lists lists and, if so, how?

  • How can I delete the files .DS_store in Mac OS Yosemite?

How can I delete the files .DS_store in Mac OS Yosemite?

The .DS_Store file is normal. It holds certain settings related to the folder it is found in. Removing these files is futile, as they will come back, as you have observed.
If you are seeing them on your Mac, that means you have changed settings so that your Mac is showing invisible files in the Finder. To reverse that, run the following command in the Terminal:
    defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles NO
This will hide them, and any other invisible files, from view.
If you are seeing them on a Windows machine, just ignore them. They're not doing any harm.
If you found a Terminal command that is supposed to stop them from being created, I would be extremely skeptical as to the wisdom of running it.

  • How to complete delete everything from my icloud account.

How to complete delete everything from my icloud account. Like brand new.

First go to Settings>iCloud on your device and confirm that everything is turned to Off, and that you are not syncing any data with iCloud before proceeding.  (If you are, when you delete the data from iCloud it will also be deleted from your device and it will be lost.)  When you turn these off, you will be given the option to keep the data on your device.
To delete your contacts, go to iCloud.com from your computer, log into your iCloud account and open Contacts, click on All Contacts on the left, to the right click on any single contact to select it, click on the Actions (gear shaped) icon at the bottom left and choose Select All, then press the Delete key on your keyboard.
For Calendars, open your calendar on icloud.com, click Edit on the bottom left, then tap the minus sign to the right of each calendar to delete it.
For Notes, open notes on icloud.com, click on each note on the left, then click Delete at the top to delete it.
For Reminders, open reminders on icloud.com, click on each reminder and press your Delete key to delete it.
For Mail, open your mail on icloud.com, click each folder on the left (such as your inbox), click on a single message to the right, press Control-A on your keyboard to select them all, then press your Delete key.  Repeat this for each of your mail folders except Trash.  When finished, click on the actions (gear-shaped) icon on the bottom left and select Empty Trash.
To delete your my photo stream photos, open the album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap the trash icon. If you want to keep a copy of them on your device, save them to your camera roll first.

  • How do I delete files permanently from a usb flash key? On my mac (Yosemite 10.10) it's telling me the files are deleted, however on plugging key into television they're still there

I've a problem I've never come across before and it's how to permanently delete files on a usb flash key? I've just migrated from using Windows for 15 years onto Apple iMac and had been deleting files easily and permanently from the key on Windows without any hassle and thought I'd done the same on my iMac but seemingly they're still there as the tele is showing them when key is plugged in, BUT they can not be seen on iMac. I wondered why the key wouldn't take anymore files after, what I thought was, deletion and now I know why-imac hasn't deleted them!
I've actually gone into Disk Utility and formatted the key in it's usual FAT32 format to finally delete the files.  Anyone any ideas as to why this happens and how to solve this please?
    Many thanks

In addition to what Drew wrote, remember the Mac has a data fork and a resource fork.
Here is an old thread but a nice recap by Dr. Smoke
    ._Files
Note that the ._file files you note are the resource forks of Mac files you copied to the drive from your Mac, and these are only visible when you use the Flash drive on a PC. These are normal and indicate the Flash drive is already formatted for Windows.
When you copy or save a file from a Mac OS X system to a Windows shared volume or a Windows-formatted disk, the Mac creates two files: the data fork (xxx) and the resource fork (._xxx). This is called Apple Double Format and is normal. The resource fork contains additional data about the file that is exclusive to the Mac that cannot be saved otherwise on Windows-formatted disks. This is new with Mac OS X, as documented in Mac OS X: Apple Double Format Creates File Name With the Prefix '._'.
The resource fork files (._xxx) are necessary if you want to copy the file back to the Mac and retain the metadata. The resource forks of files are invisible when they are used on the Mac: the Mac OS Extended file system (aka HFS Plus or HFS+) uses forked files, with a file having both data and resource forks.
You can delete the resource forks on the Windows disk if and only if you don't care about losing the resource fork information should you copy them back to the Mac, such as comments, image preview icon, etc. Some Mac applications use the resource fork data, so deleting the resource fork can be problematic if you copy the file back to the Mac. Likewise moving the file while not also moving its associated resource fork when using the data on a PC can result in problems when using some files again on the Mac.
You can't prevent the resource forks from being created if you copy or save files from the Mac to the Windows share or Windows-formatted disk via Finder.

  • How do I delete songs from Itunes without losing them in my IPOD?

How do I delete songs from Itunes without losing them in my IPOD? I don't want 11gb of music stored on my computer when I already have it in my Ipod. Anyone have some info?

You can Transfer music manually, then delete the files from the PC without having it sync to the iPod.
    HOWEVER.....
Deleting songs off of iTunes or your computer is a very bad idea unless you have created one or more backup files of all your songs.
Using the iPod as the sole repository of any of your songs is a very risky practice. When (not ‘if’) you need to restore the iPod, return the iPod for service, or it's song files are somehow lost or damaged, you will be re-ripping all your CDs back into iTunes and re-purchasing all your iTMS songs. Restoring the iPod is a common ‘fix’ to many small issues that arise.
If you cannot store your songs on a PC or within iTunes, then you will need to have some storage medium in use (an external hard drive, DVDs or CDs). You should also consider a secondary backup medium for additional safety. Whether you keep your music in iTunes or on an external source – Multiple copies of your music files are a must!
The iPod is really designed to be playback device - not a primary storage device (although it can be used as such), and certainly not as the only storage medium for all your music.
Always backup your PC files: both music and data. Backup as frequently as possible. The usual ‘metric’ is to determine just how much work (hours, days, weeks) or money spent you are willing to repeat by extending out your time between backups. Your choice, your potential headache &/or loss.
Many data-savvy folks have more than one backup and create incremental backups every time they add to or change their Library. Depending on the work I am doing, I may perform several backups during the same day. As they are incremental, and placed on my Backup ExHD – it is a very quick operation to perform several times a day, when needed.
If you are heavily invested in your Library data (Playlists, Play Counts, Ratings, Last Played, Date Added, etc.), then:
it is critical that you also make multiple backups of your ‘iTunes Library.itl’ file.
iTMS REMINDER: While you can always take the time to re-rip the CDs you own to restore your iTunes music, if you lose your iTMS purchased music and have no backups, you will have to re-purchase them. Few exceptions are made to this rule – at least none that I am aware of.

  • Help! How do I delete a pending OS X software update???

I forgot to turn off "automatically check for updates" in the system preference, so I found my computer had already downloaded the "updates" from iWork '09 to the latest versions of Pages, etc.
Of course, this is a disaster -- the latest Pages, Keynote etc. are broken since functionality has been removed so they are more compatible with the toys, uh, I mean iPads.
Since these updates on my computer have been downloaded but NOT INSTALLED yet, how can I DELETE those downloaded but-not-yet-installed update files and save my programs from being mangled by the latest update? Do I just keep hitting "remind me tomorrow" for the next few years?
I searched all over and cannot find the answer.
I hope you can help me. Otherwise I think I have to completely reinstall Yosemite to get back to functionality.  (And no, there's no backup since I just installed Yosemite a few hours ago.)
    Thanks!

These "updates" will put another version of Pages, Numbers and Keynote on your computer beside the iWork'09 version. Once is done, in your /Applications folder you will see Pages, Numbers, and Keynote and also a folder called iWork'09 where you will have an access to older versions of these apps.
In other words, these "updates" won't replace your iWork'09 - you will have an access to both versions at the same time and you still will be able to use old version of iWork'09.
Always remeber to have a Time Machine Backup (or other sort of backup) of your data. You can save yourself a bit of stress...

  • How can I delete the custom repeat option in the reminders app

    Hi,
When I try to set a reminder to repeat every month the reminder app automatically sets a "custom repeat" of "every month that has 29 days in it". Where did this custom repeat option come from? I don't think I created it. How can I delete it?

    Hi Chris,
    Thanks for your reply.
I am using the native iOS reminders app. I have tried closing the app and powering my phone off and on, but to no avail. I was under the impression that one can set custom reminders using siri? I have friend with a toddler who was playing with my phone. I figured maybe she set off Siri and a custom reminder was set by mistake?

  • How can I delete tab indents created in Pages 08

How can I delete tab indents created in Pages 08.  I have a 200 page document with tab indents.  I need to delete all the tab indents.

Not sure how it used to be in Pages '08 but in Pages '09 you click on the Advanced button and get a menu to choose invisible characters.
The best solution anyway is to simply drag over the return tab in the document and Copy/Paste that in the Find field and again in the Replace, deleting once to get rid of the tab.

  • Anyone figured out how to run iCal completely invisible?

Has anyone figured out how to run iCal completely invisible on Snow Leopard -- not just minimized on the dock, but completely hidden.  The goal is to be able to press Comamnd+Tab and NOT see iCal.

I too have a KRZR K1M that I received two days ago as a "gift' from Verizon in exchange for renewing my contract for 2 years. I had a RAZR that I had been able to sync with iCal after I edited the metaclass.plist file for that phone. I would then have to delete and re-add the RAZR each time I resynched in order to select the option I wanted from the iSync dialog window. If I "merge[d] data," the calendars on both my mac and my phone would fill quickly with duplicate entries. As for the KRZR, i have tried several times to add and sync this phone to the mac. It worked only once, and I was able to get the mac to write a years worth of events into the phone, but no matter what i do, i have not been able to repeat the process for my ical events. I use the VZW backup assistant for my contacts, just to be safe. I would like very much for Verizon and Apple to get together on the iSync issue. Verizon tech support told me only moments ago that the only phone they offer that will sunc with iCal is either a Treo or a Blackberry. And they aren't handing out either of them for free any time soon.

  • How can I delete the podcasts that I have not downloaded but show up as being in the cloud

How can I delete the podcasts that show up as being in the cloud when viewing them in the List mode? Most of these are past episode that I previously downloaded and then deleted. I know that I can  look at my podcasts in Unplayed mode which removes those in the cloud but then I can't sort them first by podcast title and then by episode date the way I can in List mode.   This was not a problem before iTunes 11.1 when I could simply delete those in the cloud.

That is discouraging.  However I do notice that if I view my podcasts in My Podcasts mode they are grouped and sorted better than in Unplayed mode and the ones in the cloud are not shown. However although I prefer the one window view of List mode to the two windows My Podcast mode, My Podcast mode does at least indicate how many unplayed episodes I have from each podcast.  This would almost be acceptable except that partially listened to podcasts, while still there, can only be identified by highlighting the podcast title on the lefthand sidebar, (although the number of completely unplayed episodes are listed on the left hand sidebar).  As someone who often listens to a podcast over two or more days I fear I could forget which ones I have only partially listened to and would have to go down the entire left hand sidebar list highlighting each podcast to remind myself.  I really find the List mode the most informative and easiest way to view my podcasts and really wish Apple had not messed with it
