How do I delete bookmarks using Firefox 4?
I'm using Mac OS X. It used to be under the "organize your bookmarks" thing, but now I can't figure out how to delete bookmarks I've already made.
"Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks" has been renamed to "Show All Bookmarks" in Firefox 4.

How do I delete just the firefox bookmarks but not the the bookmarks toolbar icons
I deleted my firefox bookmarks so I could import my gooogle bookmarks,but this also deleted my firefox bookmarks toolbar entries...it took me along time to put these in again.
How do I delete just the firefox bookmarks but not the the bookmarks toolbar iconsWhat kind of problems did you get after installing the extension?
You can try to remove the history manually in the History Manager by doing a search for a colon.
How many history items do you have to remove?
If you only want to do this once or occasionally then you can consider to use this code:
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/User:Dickvl/JavaScript_Error_Console#Expire_History_By_Days
You will have to calculate the number of days that you want to keep to remove only history items from 2013 and older (365+31+28+26)
You can open the Browser Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer).
Paste the JavaScript code in the command line and press the Enter key to run the code.
*Toggle the devtools.chrome.enabled pref on the <b>about:config</b> page to true to enable the command line
*https://developer.mozilla.org/Tools/Browser_Console#Browser_Console_command_line
<pre><nowiki>
(function(){
/* expire history by days, based upon bug 660646 comment 5/7 - [email protected] */
var Cc = Components.classes, Ci = Components.interfaces;
var his = Cc["@mozilla.org/browser/nav-history-service;1"].getService(Ci.nsIBrowserHistory);
var prs = Cc["@mozilla.org/embedcomp/prompt-service;1"].getService(Ci.nsIPromptService);
var day = 0, obj = new Object, txt = "Expire History"; obj.value = "90";
if (prs.prompt(null,txt,"Days of history to keep",obj,null,{})){
day = parseInt(obj.value);
if(!isNaN(day)&&(day>0)){
his.removeVisitsByTimeframe(0,(new Date().setHours(0,0,0,0) - day * 86400000) * 1000);
}else{ prs.alert(null,txt,"Error Parsing Days: "+obj.value); }
</nowiki></pre>
If hat doesn't work then you may have a problem with the places.sqlite database file and you may have to reset places.sqlite.
*Places Maintenance: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/places-maintenance/
You can move (copy/paste) history items that you want to keep to a bookmarks folder.

On the subject of bookmarks...
The following procedure works for deleting bookmarks on my MacBook Pro, my iMac, and my Mac mini...
If the bookmark is itself a tab on the toolbar, right click on it and select delete by highlighting delete in the drop down menu that appears.
The following procedure works for deleting bookmarks on my MacBook Pro, but not my iMac or Mac mini...
If the toolbar tab is actually a folder containing bookmarks and possibly more folders, left click on the toolbar tab to open a drop down menu of other bookmarks/folders, highlight the one you want to delete, then right click on it and select delete by highlighting delete in the drop down menu.
On the iMac and Mac mini, right clicking on an item in the drop down menu of bookmarks/folders has no effect. It does not produce the additional drop down menu at all.
I can find no place to adjust this as a setting in preferences or anywhere else. Can you tell me why I am seeing a different response from the Firefox program on my MacBook Pro than I get from my other Macs?
All Macs are configured similarly and running OS X 10.6.5. All have Firefox 3.6.13 installed.
I realize there are many other ways to delete bookmarks from Firefox. My question is not about how to delete bookmarks, but rather why am I seeing the differing behavior from Firefox in other installs. It may well prove to be an issue within OS X rather than Firefox.In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes" then try to disable this feature.
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [ ] "Clear history when Firefox closes"
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Clear+Recent+History
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.
See "Creating a profile":
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem

How do you delete bookmarks in your favorites on the bookmark bar?
How do your delete bookmarks that you no longer want?
Lynn
Are you using Safari, or Chrome? Firefox? If in Safari go to Bookmarks then Show All Bookmarks, look for bookmarks bar, right click on the bookmark and select delete. Chrome and Firefox are similar. Go to Bookmark Manager see where your bookmarks are right click and delete. Hope this helps!

Joseph

I have a new HP 6720 Pavillion Desktop using Windows 7 and downloaded FF4.0 to it. I have bookmarks in FF3.6 on an older computer using XP and have exported Firefox to a jump drive. I need step by step instructions on how to get my old FF profile info including bookmarks transfered to my new computer.By the way, I need the same instructions for transfering my Outlook email files and address book on the old computer to Thunderbird on the new one. Thanks
You can export the bookmarks using Firefox 3.6 to a json file, then restore that file to Firefox 4 on the new computer. For details see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Backing+up+and+restoring+bookmarks
If you want to copy more than just the bookmarks, the following links show how to do that:
* https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Backing+up+your+information
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
For help with transferring data to Thunderbird, you can ask in one of these Thunderbird support forums:

How do I import Bookmarks from Firefox 28.0 into Firefox 29.0.1?
How do I import Bookmarks from Firefox 28.0 into Firefox 29.0.1? I am running OS X 10.7.5 and just updated Firefox from 28.0 to 29.0.1. How do I import my old 28.0 bookmarks into 29.0.1? I've tried all the suggestions but nothing works. WHERE are my old bookmarks? Help, please!
Your bookmarks can be imported and exported from the Library (Bookmarks Manager).
*Go to the clipboard icon, click Show All Bookmarks <i>OR</i> press Cmd + Shift + B
*Once there, you'll see Import and Backup (see screenshot), you have a choice to choose between backing up as a JSON (Import and Backup -> Backup) or HTML (Import and Backup - > Export bookmarks to HTML)
Once this is done and the file has been backed up, you can import them using the same method (Import & Backup -> Backup for JSON/Import & Backup -> Import bookmarks from HTML (HTML)
One of our awesome contributors explained the difference between a JSON backup and a HTML backup that is very explanatory:
Restoring a JSON backup will replace all your current bookmarks (you get a warning about that), so if you already have bookmarks that you wish to keep then export them to an HTML file before restoring the JSON backup.
You can import that HTML file after you have restored the JSON backup to get your current bookmarks back (you need to remove duplicates).
You can't import a JSON backup to add (merge) bookmarks.
Importing bookmarks from an HTML file adds the imported bookmarks to the already existing bookmarks, so you may need to remove duplicates.
An HTML backup doesn't support tags and annotations, so if you want to preserve those then you need to use a JSON backup.
A JSON backup doesn't preserve the website favicons, so you need to visit a website to get back that favicon. -

I am participating in an online class whose website uses Microsoft Content Viewer to view the class content. The browser opens a new page, but nothing is there. At the top of the tab it says Microsoft Content Viewer, and nothing else. Can anyone tell me how to view my course using Firefox? I would prefer not to use IE, but it works there.
When originally creating the pdf, you would need to choose another pdf conversion setting. In Word if you use the pdf menu, change your settings there: Adobe PDF > Change Conversion Settings. I would use High Quality Print instead. If you use the File > Print method, click the Properties button next to the Adobe PDF printer selection.
For your already created form, you can change the file so your users will not encounter issues. In Acrobat 9, which hopefully is similar in process to 8: Advanced > Preflight > Profile tab > PDF/A compliance > Remove PDF/A information.(You'll have to unsecure your form first).
You can read about PDF/A files in the Help. -

Delete and redownload that application when signed into the correct Apple ID. This may require repurchasing it.

Add another computer
Do these steps on the computer you are trying to add to Firefox Sync.
At the top of the Firefox window, click the Firefox button and select Set Up Sync. The Firefox Sync Setup window will open.
Click I Have an Account.
Since you're not near the device with Sync already set up, click the I don't have the device with me link.
Sign in to your Sync account:
Enter your account email address
Enter your password
Enter your Recovery Key
Then click Next
You will see a Setup Complete screen. Click Finish to complete adding this device to your Sync account. -
How do I delete bookmarks from the Firefox Home app on my iphone?
I just installed Firefox Sync on my iphone and it has successfully synced all of my bookmarks. After I read a bookmark on my phone, I'd like to delete that bookmark permanently so I don't have to delete it on my computer as well. I can't find an option to delete bookmarks - am I missing something?
No. It's very involved. That initial syncing of the bookmarks
Was all done at once. After I processed the
Firefox home app onto the phone. there has to be a way that automatically transfers any new bookmarks from the PC to
The home app on the iPhone.
it's supposed to sync automatically. but there is no new data. -
How do i delete pages on firefox mobile?
I can delete pages on foxfire on my desktop but cant seem to do it on my mobile firefox. how do i delete pages on my mobile?
The All Pages tab lists history and bookmarks. To clear history, have you tried using Clear Private Data in Preferences?
On the start screen, there also are some history-related add-ons that might give you better control; I haven't tried any of them myself. -
