How Do I Delete/Crop Background?

I have a video from a game console with a static image (a HUD for you gamers.) Everything stays still in the HUD except for the "radar" which sends out waves like a submarine's SONAR. I really would like to put this HUD on top of a video, but I need to crop out the background first. I know that I can just put a still frame of this HUD over the video, but the radar adds so much, so I really want it in the video. I assumed that FCE would have a feature like this, but I couldn't find it. I was wondering if anyone knows how to crop out the background in FCE. There might be no way, but as you can probably see, I'm a FCE noob, so I might be wrong. Thanks!

Try using one of the Garbage Matte effects. You will basically draw a shape around the part of the image you want to keep, thereby excluding what you don't want.

I am new to after effects.
I'm currently working on some footage of a face talking. I have used the rotobrush to single out just the lips moving and have deleted the background. However, when I delete the background it automatically changes the background to a solid black.
The effect i'm looking for is more something of the effect of a PNG in photoshop - no background so that when it is imported into a movie, the lips with be free standing over other footage so that the oner footage will be shown behind the moving image of the lips..
I have looked at multiple tutorials and threads and found nothing that helps with my problem - if there is one, I apologise, I have just spent so long looking and thought here was the best place to come.
If anyone can give me any advice it would be very greatly appreciated - Thankyou!

First, check to make sure you actually HAVE transparency by doing one of three things: change the comp's background to something other than black, click on the button at the bottom of the comp window to view the alpha channel, or click the button on the bottom of the comp window to reveal the familiar Photoshop checkerboard background.
Next, select a codec that supports alpha channels -- in Quicktime-Land, that would be Animation, PNG or Prores 4444. For FCP, use ProRes if you can.
After that add the comp to the AE Render Queue. In the output module, select RGB+Alpha, Millions (or trillions) Of Colors +, and Straight, i.e. not premultiplied. If you absolutely MUST have audio (I personally have little use for it), check the appropriate check box.
Finally, save the project and hit the render button. DO NOT save the project again after rendering; instead, go file>Revert. That way, if you have one of those Homer Simpson "DOH!" moments where you realize you made a mistake, you simply delete the rendered file, make corrections, and you're all set to re-render.

To close an app, drag the app up from the multitasking display.
Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app thumbnail to close it.
this might help as well.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

In the timeline, we naturally made many changes over and over again.
And if everytime we made changes in the timeline, FCPX renders it to ProRes 422, then our ext HDD will be very fast fill up of unwanted rendered files. How do we delete these files ?

If you are referring to music you added to the timeline in iMovie simply click the green audio clip to select it. Once it has a yellow border around it you can use the delete key on keyboard or the edit->cut menu command. Now drag in your new audio file as you did on the original.
If you are referring to background music that was in the original video file then place your cursor over the middle of the green audio waveform below the video and a double arrow will appear. Hold down your left mouse button and drag down to mute the audio. You can now drag in your new audio from iTunes and drop it below the video, dragging it to where you want it in the timeline.

Not a good idea! The "show duplicates" feature shows "all" duplicate tracks, but you only want to delete the "extra" copies, not the "originals".
I've written a script called DeDuper which can help remove unwanted duplicates. See this thread for background, including how to delete the extra tracks manually if you prefer.
