  • How do I delete the old Google Maps applicaiton

I think I have a problem that many wish they had prior to google releasing an updated Maps application.  I updated to iOS6 and got the new Apple Maps app, but still retained the Google Maps app as well.  This is one of the kind of apps that can't be deleted, like SMS, Phone, etc.
I can move it around, and generally used to just stuff it away on the last page, but now I want to make an effort to remove it.
Looking at the file system, at the .ipa files, the built in .ipa's are not included.  Anyone know where those are stored, so perhaps I could remove that, to see if it would remove it from my phone on next sync?
I did a backup and restore the other day, still no change.  I did a backup, completely erased my phone to factory, then did a restore, which also didn't work.  And finally, though I really didn't want to, I went ahead and erased my phone with the intention of rebuilding it from scratch, though the darn Maps app was still there, so  just backed up a step and did a restore to my last backup point to save the hassle of setting up my phone from ground zero.
I have added two screen shots, one wiht my mouse selecting a normal app so you can see I get the "X" to delete icon on the app, and the other with the maps application selected so that you can see I DO NOT get the "X".
I filtered the left list to just the google ones, but have tried various other combinations such as "maps" to locate it, it is not in the list, just as "phone", "sms", and "mail" are not in the list.
    Any help would be appreciated

Older versions of the SMS app I don't even believe we're called "SMS" but "Messages" though I could be wrong on that. There were differences in the SMS app regarding FaceTime. The current app has a button at the top that allows you to jump that conversation into FacrTime. Older versions didn't have that button as FaceTime was not released yet.
Yes, I can delete the new Google Maps App, it is an app I downloaded from the App Store. What I can't delete is the icon labeled Maps, which is also a google app, not a bookmark.
For the large majority of users of iPhones of compatable hardware, when they upgraded to iOS6 the Google maps application that was part of a default iPhone installation was deleted. In it's place was installed Apples debatably botched Maps application.
In my case, that didn't happen. I was left with both applications still intact. At first I didn't even understand why everyone was so upset with Apples Maps implementation. From my perspective, if they didn't like it they could simply use the Google Maps application they had been using all along. Then I started to see people asking where they could download the old Google Maps App and it started to make sense. Their system no longer had the app. They only had one choice, Apple 's Mapping app, while I still maintained both choices.
I'm looking for others who have experienced this and solved it. I've seen similar cases where different apps hang around longer than they should, but never found a solution. I assume over time enough users will report this to Apple and a software update will correct it. I however, would like to correct it now.

  • How can I delete places in the map app that came with the iphone5s

I Was in the map app playing around and by mistake entered some places that I do not want. I've tried everything to delete them, but cannot find a way to clear them. I have even dropped a pin on one of the places and now I cannot remove the pin. I tried reporting a problem with the place that I dropped the pin and it reported it to Apple. The more things I try, the worse it gets! Please help me get rid of the places and the pins!!!!!!

There is no X at the top of the box or any where on the page. The places I am talking about are navigational places and when I click on the red pin
A red pin shows up when you have typed something into the search box at top. The red pin identifies the location of what the search results is.
Clear the search box and the red pin will disappear

  • How do I delete forms response in a queue?

We tested collecting data using Acrobat forms. Posted the interactive form to our website, sent people invitations to the link. (This was the test step.) As I filled out the forms (at home, on laptop), colleague deleted the 'response half' from the server. Now, I can't get the 'Connection Lost' messages to stop. Where is the queued response stored on my MacBook? [System? Application folder?] I've tried the obvious things: restarts, changing preferences, etc. It pops up a warning every hour or so and each time I reopen the laptop.
Using Acrobat Pro to create the forms (Windows), using Acrobat Reader 9.3.3 to test the forms.
    Thanks.

Update:  I found an answer in the "More like this" box;  namely, click the page, then delete key.  A dialog box
appeared, which did the job.  Thanks for the help.  I tried the automated phone service first and was directed to log on to itunes,  Some help!  Glad this is here.

Not certain if this topic should be here or under MBP, but here goes. How do you delete a "Location" under Network in System Preferences? What's happened, is that throughout the 15 months of MBP ownership and switching mobile phones pretty frequently, I've managed to acquire 4 different locations without intention, but only need one and would now like to delete the other three.

Choose Edit Location from the Location pop-up, then just select the ones you want to delete and click the "-" button.

  • How do I delete map locations

New to IOS-6 and it seems that Apple added a way to save locations on the map app.  How do I delete the un-wanted locations?

Don't know how to clear individual locations but you can do it en masse and start over:
    Touch 'Maps' icon on phone
Touch 'boomark' icon (next to search bar, looks like a book)
Touch 'Recents' (middle on bottom of page)
    Touch 'Clear' (upper left)

You can't delete the update and your problem probably is not in the Update.
Check to see if Location Services is turned ON. (Settings > Privacy > Location Services)

If you mean the Maps History of the "Google Maps" app you have to tap the icon on the up right corner of the app and then the little gear on the up right corner again. Tap on the Maps History and then tap the little pen on the up right corner to delete locations.

  • How to restore a deleted built-in app (Maps)?  App disappeared: IOS 4 & 3GS

Does anyone know how to restore a deleted built-in app?
In my case the Maps app disappeared. According to other posts in this forum you cannot delete a built-in app such as Maps but it has happened on my iPhone 3GS.
    I'm running IOS 4.

If you are unable to locate the Maps app you can still access it from the Spotlight search window. Just type in Maps, look for the familiar interstate 280 icon, tap there and you will enter the Maps app. This will work for you until you can locate the icon, which hopefully you will.

I have two networks one each in two cities.  Both are named the same but require different passwords. I am at my second location and cannot connect to this wifi network. How do I delet one network so I can connect to my second network?

Just go to the wireless network preferences and empty out all the stored wireless networks.. then scan and connect to the local wireless.
Select them and tap the - button below it.
Once they are emptied out.. it might be good to reboot the computer with the remember networks unchecked.
    Start with a clean slate.
