How do I delete Gmail messages in iOS5

I have my Gmail account set up to push (as an Exchange account) to my iPhone 4S.  Unfortunatley no matter how I try to delete email messages they are always placed in the All Mail folder, and I never see them in the trash.  Has anyone had any luck deleteing Gmail messages from iOS5?

I just figured this one out.  Go into settings/mail, contacts, calendars.  Under the Accounts section choose Gmail.  Then there should be an "Archived Messages" slide switch...it's on by default, slide it to off and you should be able to delete either by swiping to the left when you are in the "Inbox" view.  If you are actually reading the message at the bottom there will now be a "trash can" icon to delete the mail. You should be good to go now.

How do you delete 'SAVED MESSAGES' on iPhone 5s?  It's taking up about 10GB of 32 GB capacity.

After much searching on the web and reading many (sometimes amusing) posts on this topic here is what I have found.
In Settings>General>Usage my saved mesages were using 3.2Gb and no apparently immediate way of deleting them.
However as the good book says "seek and ye shall find".
SO this is where I went:
Settings>iCloud>Account> then scroll down to ADVANCED and select Mail; again scroll down to the bottom and select Advanced and yet again scroll to the bottom (well at least to DELETED MESSAGES) and tap on the line called Remove.
Here at last you will find a setting that enables you to select the period after which iOS will remove your deleted messages.
The shortest period is one day so you will haev to wait 24 hours to finally have that memory back but it should work and is a nice feature in iOS although it is well burried!!

  • How can I delete text messages from my iphone?

    Hello everyone,
How can I delete text messages from my iphone?  I do not want to reset my iphone setting. If it is nesscary to reset my iphone setting, will I lose everything?
    Please let me know,
    Thanks,

Just delete them. Or, do you mean beyond just deleting them? Then, you'd need to wipe the phone - select Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. That's a secure wipe of the iPhone contents, takes several hours (connect to AC power). You'll need to set your phone up from scratch (and erase the old backup(s) from your computer, since your SMS history is part of the backup).

  • How do I delete all messages at once on my iPad

How do I delete all messages at once on my ipad?

iOS 7 does not give you a way to delete all your text messages at once.
While you can delete multiple messages within a conversation thread (tap and hold a message bubble, then click more; you'll see it), there's no way to delete more than one conversation thread at once. You have to slide each thread and then tap delete.

  • How do I delete a message or an entire conversation in iMessage?

How do I delete a message or an entire conversation in iMessage?  I have tried "close conversation" and "clear transcript" in iMessage as well as deleting on the texts on my iPhone.
When I use "clear transcript", the conversation clears.  If I open another conversation with that same person, the entire deleted conversation reappears.
When I clear the conversation on the iPhone, nothing happens in iMessage, so I know that is not the correct approach.
So, does anyone know what to do?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
There are two things going on here.  (And the second is not dependant on the first)
The first is that Message Beta now stores all Chats by default and it cannot be changed.  (It was optional in iChat)
By Default this is in ~/Documents/iChats  (By date)
Separate from this the Messages Sync process seems to be continuously "On" meaning that any conversation is re-synced even if deleted in ~/Documents/iChats or cleared as a Current Chat (Using the small X in the name part of the Message window) or and Clearing the Transcripts and even deleting it on the Phone or iPad.
There is no way to change this behaviour currently as has already been discussed.
I actually have a Migrated User Account that contains old iChat transcripts that go back to 2004.
With some chats it is useful to have the History pop up  (How big you have the window dictates how much History shows).
I find it useful as some people come back to me literally years later to ask follow up questions.

  • I got a message that 5.01 update is available. How do I delete this message? I don't want the update.

I got a message that says 5.01 update is available. It says press here to download. I don't want 5.01. How do I delete this message?
Also, back in settings, where you get into diagnostics and usage data, under "About",
How can I delete this data? It just keeps piling up and soon will overshadow any other storage on my phone.
I don't send this data to apple (there is a toggle) nor do I wish to. I just wish to delete it from time to time.
    Any ideas?
P.S. Check your own phone and see the size you have.

To get rid of "pop-up ads and other crap on my computer when I am on the internet", click on Safari in the Menu bar, and select Preferences. Next select Extensions. Delete all of them. Restart Safari.
The first step in addressing the black screen is an SMC reset.
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

  • How do I delete email messages so that they stop "bouncing" back and forth between my devices?

How do I delete email messages so that they stop "bouncing" back and forth between my Macbook, ipad, and iphone?

    Hi ST,
The first screen shot is the left (main) screen after I moved CS6 to the right screen (second screen shot). As you can see the CS6 panels are in front of MS Word. If I click in the Word document they go behind Word. If I switch over to on the right screen the panels reappear but in front of Word again. So I either have to switch back and forth between the two screens if I want to work in CS6 or manually movee the panels over to the Right Screen. It is rather awkward to have to do that. Make sense?

  • How to delete gmail messages in Mail for Mac

I am using Mail 7.3 on my Macbook Pro with Mavericks 10.9.5.
I use Gmail for my email.
When I DELETE a message in Gmail it goes into the Gmail Archive (and stays in the All Mail folder)- it does NOT get Deleted.
Gmail help says I need to drag each message to the Trash when using Mail as Delete will not work.
    Really?
This is a drag to do, besides there is no Trash folder.
I have a 'Bin' folder and a 'Deleted Messages' folder so I'm trying to use them.
Still for Mail and Gmail not to be compatible for Delete seems crazy.
I have tried changing the Mailbox Behaviours in Preferences but it seems to make no difference.

I Wonder if your sitting there laughing at us as if there is some big conspiracy about selecti all and deleting all from our iPhones and iPads.
    The conspiracy.
Why can we not just not select all in the mail inbox and then delete all, if we do not want to delete every single one of them then deselect the few that we do not want to delete instead of having to select the thousands we do want delete individually.
And if you do make a mistake and delete the wrong emails by selecting all, then go to your trash and reinstate the ones you did not want to delete
I think 99% of us know how to DELETE emails individually, as you put it.
That's just sarcasm and if not then then your not fully understanding the question asked.
I would also say that probably 99% of us want to be able to select all and delete all if that's what we desire.
I would just like a honest answer of why we cannot select all delete all rather than giving me a load of rubbish about encase we delete something we didn't want to delete.

  • How do I delete a message?  Using Imap and gmail

I am using imap with gmail in apple mail for leopard. I get the idea that when you press the delete button it only deletes the inbox tag and it is still available for reference in "all mail" on the left window. I like this, it allows me to clear out my inbox and still reference e-mails later. Here is the question... How do I really delete a message, one I truly never care to see again? My "all mail" is getting out of control.

    This is what I do:
In preferences, I set my Gmail account as recommended by Google: I UNcheck the "Move deleted messages to the Trash mailbox" option under Mailbox Behaviors. Once I do that, clicking "Delete" from the inbox actually archives it into the All Mail, but leaves it in my mailbox.
If there is an email I actually want to delete from my account, I move it from my Inbox to the Trash folder. I do this with a MailActOn keystroke, but you can do it just by moving it or dragging it there.
MailActOn helps a bunch if you have a lot of emails. I process about 300 a day and rely on it for maintaining my sanity, especially since I can set the same keystroke to do different things in different accounts, since I "delete" and "archive" differently for different accounts.
