From what you're describing appears to be Activation Lock, a security measure provided by Apple that makes it harder for people to use a lost or stolen device. You will need to enter the password for the Apple ID the device is prompting you for.

(It also says the device will go back on "find my iphone" when it goes online again, which seems to mean you can successfully remove it, but as soon as you turn it back on it will be back on the list, and thus you will not be able to restore it.) It's a bit of a conundrum. In my case I couldn't for some reason turn off my phone with the home/sleep buttons - nothing happens, the phone stays on. While on a chat with Apple support, they got my iphone offline (I was able to turn it off by pressing the sleep button and swiping where the red "turn off iphone" arrow would have appeared) and removed it from "find my phone", but when I reconnected to itunes it turned on and reappeared in the "find my phone" list. Luckily, the screen suddenly appeared (it had done this several times yesterday, just briefly), so I was able to turn off "find my device" from the phone. I was then able to restore. Unfortunately, this does not answer the question of how to remove the device from "find my iphone" and keep it off while connecting with itunes to restore (unless you have my good fortune of having the screen suddently reappear). Apple support seemed puzzled that it had reappeared on the device list under "find my iphone". Time will tell whether the restoration fixes the blank screen issue.

Basically, someone was hacking my apple account for a while and kept changing the password so i kept resetting it, now i've had to change my email as icloud still wouldn't accept my new passwords - even after being updated. Now i can't sign out of icloud due to it being the wrong email and an unknown previous password, as i can't turn off find my phone.ipad. How do i solve this without losing everything as i can't just delete the account and the usb ports on my laptop have gone so i can't back up to my laptop. I'm running completely on icloud but desperately need it to update so i don't lose all my uni work as well off my ipad.
If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID and that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

I just bought an Iphone 6+.
Backed up data and settings from old Iphone 5 onto Itunes and used Restore on new Iphone 6+ but contacts from old phone did not appear on new phone.
Tried backing up data from old Iphone 5 again onto Itunes. However, when I tried to Restore again on Iphone 6+, I got a message saying I need to turn off Find my Iphone. Unfortunately, Iphone requires Icloud password in order to turn off Find my Iphone feature and I am locked out of Icloud due to too many failed attempts. I also cannot use the Icloud account associated with the old Iphone 5 as I cannot remember the answers to the security questions and I do not think I entered an alternate email address.
Anyway, short of wiping my new Iphone 6+, is there any way of turning off the Find My Iphone feature without keying in a icloud password?
On another note, I tried erasing all data and settings but could not because I had to key in a Restrictions passcode and I do not even know how a Restrictions passcode even got into my new Iphone 6+!. 1 way I am trying now is to key in my normal passcode wrongly more than 10x so that whole phone will be wiped but I am now at the stage where I have to wait 1 hr before entering another wrong passcode.

I just updated to iOS7 and an old appleid popped up. My old password is not recognized so I can't delete the account or turn off find my iphone. The old appleid is linked to an email I don't have anymore, and answers to my security ?'s aren't recognized. Is there any way I can reset my account to my new appleid? This has happened to every iphone and ipad in my family that has updated to iOS7.

My iPhone 4 screen stopped working. The phone is still on but the screen is not working at all, it is juts black. I was told restoring my phone might solve this problem so i plugged it into iTunes. When I click on the restore iPhone button a message popped up saying I needed to turn off 'find my iPhone' in phone settings for the restore to be go ahead. Problem is I cant access my phone!

When I want to log out it ask your password to turn off Find My Iphone with old email. Even though i try to use old password as well as new password, I doesn't work. Is there any ways to solve ? Please tell me. Thanks in advance.You need to change to old email for apple id just long enough that will allow you to sign out. You will have about two three minutes to log out and as soon as you do change it back, It will ask you to verify, don't. Just log out and change it back.

I'm trying to restore a backup, but I keep getting a request to turn off Find My iPhone. It says that I should go to iCloud Settings and turn off Find My iPhone. However, on the iCloud Settings, Find My iPhone is greyed out.
I don't want to restore my iPhone to factory settings and Restore from backup because I get an error message at the end (saying that either the device - 4S - is not compatible or the backup is corrupt). i have set up my icloud on iphone 4s 16gb ios 7.0.6 and then i check to my icloud account my device is listed on find my iphone, then i turn off find my iphone in the iphone it asked for password and confirmed that find my iphone is off, i checked it again on my icloud account on the website my device not listed anymore, and then i checked through icloud.com/activation lock put my serial but it said find my iphone still on, then i tried again to turn on FMI confirmed is on then i checked again on my icloud account the device listed there, i turn off again the device dissapeared, check again the activation lock still on, i want to update to the latest ios this is really confusing, my wifi is greyed out cause of updating to ios 7.0.6 but another problem start with find my iphone, how can i solve this
