How do i delete images from camera after importing

how do i delete images from camera, ipad, iphone after importing the files into aperture3?

Image capture will allow you to delete from the device after import, but I believe it is by design that Aperture does not do this as it is recommended (in the case of a camera) to use a device's own delete function rather than a 3rd party like Aperture. This also allows time for a proper backup before everything is erased from the device?

  • IPhoto preferences - delete images from camera after upload???

Is there a preference setting in iPhoto 6 to delete images from my camera's card after upload? Can't find it...

Hi, buzzworms. Yes, it's there — but don't use it.
Too many users of iPhoto have selected that option and then had an import go awry for some reason, only to discover afterward that even though the pictures weren't successfully imported, the card was erased and the pictures were gone.
Much better to leave that option deselected, so the contents of your card aren't changed by your Mac whether or not they've been imported successfully. It's free insurance against the loss of your pictures. Erasing the card in your camera only takes a moment after you've confirmed that the pictures are safely stored in iPhoto's library.

  • IPhoto won't delete photos from camera after importing. It used to....

Hello...anybody have any thoughts on this issue? I always check the 'delete after importing' option when connecting camera and importing new photos. Recently, the photos have remained on the camera and I have to delete pictures from my camera manually instead of iPhoto doing this. It seems that after I upgraded to OS X 10.5 I noticed this issue. Needless to say if I forget to delete from the camera, iPhoto wants to import the old photos when I have new pics to import. Thanks for any help.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
We've seen occasional reports of this with 10.5. Start with the troubleshooting basics:
    1. Repair Permissions using Disk Utility
    2. Delete the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. You'll need to reset your User options afterwards.
    3. Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts) and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.
That said, experienced users do not recommend letting iPhoto delete the pics from your card. If there has been a problem with the transfer you won't know about it until after the erase is complete. It's a couple of seconds work to reformat the card using your camera.

  • HT204022 how do i delete photos from camera roll after i add them to specific folders ?

how do i delete photos from camera roll after i add them to specific folders ?

Camera roll is the master list of all photos in the app.  When you place a photo in an album, it's still in the camera roll.

  • How do I delete photos from camera roll but keep same photo in album

how do I delete photos from camera roll but keep same photo in album

You can't. The albums that you created on the iPad do not actually contain copies of the photos, but merely pointers to those photos. If you remove the photos from the camera roll, they will be removed from the iPad. Albums on the iPad are simply for your own organization on the device. Those albums cannot be imported to your computer either, since the photos do not exist in the albums.

  • I made an album just now. I went back to delete the pics from my camera roll but my only option is to "delete everywhere." I want to leave them in the new album I made..  How i can delete them from camera roll without deleting from other Album i made

I made an album just now. I went back to delete the pics from my camera roll but my only option is to "delete everywhere." I want to leave them in the new album I made..  How i can delete them from camera roll without deleting from other Album i made

The way that I understand that it works, is that the photos are not copied into the new albums, instead it just points to the photos - the number of photos on the iPad in Settings > General > About doesn't increase when you create new album so I assume from that that it isn't copying the photo, just pointing to it. So if you delete the photo from the camera roll you will therefore also be deleting all the pointers to it

  • How can i delete images from iPhoto?

I can not delete images from iphoto. When I try to move pictures to the trash they do not move, and if I try to delete them by pressing "right click> Trash" they do not move! pretty much the only way I can delete pictures from iphoto is to delete the library.
Can anyone help me? I'm about to permanently delete iphoto from my macbook pro.
    it is nerve-wracking!

Where are you trying to move these photos from?  The following are the key combinations for moving from different entities in the library:
Deleting Photos from an iPhoto Library:
1 - from the Event or Photos mode: select the photo(s) and use the Delete key to move the photos to the trash bin. Then empty the iPhoto Trash bin as follows:
2 - from an album, smart album, book, slideshow, card, etc: select the photo(s) and use the key combination of Command+Option+Delete to move the photos to the trash bin.  Then empty the trash bin as above.
If none of the above work try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If the problem persists in the new library make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • Deleting images from iPad after they were imported w/Camera Connector Kit

so I loaded images on my iPad using the camera kit and subsequently copied those over to my Mac using Aperture. How do I now remove the images from the iPad itself? I see no way to delete the Last Import or All Imported albums. It's not practical to use the delete option in the Photo App as I would have to manually delete hundreds of pictures. Using Image Capture on the Mac does not seem to be a better option.
    Thanks in advance.

I posted this on another thread, I hope it is of some help
Firstly, I am assuming you have a copy of these images stored safely elsewhere ?
What I am going to describe is not the most elegant way of deleting your images, it is a variation of deleting one at a time but much swifter.
Open the photo app on the iPad, select the left hand photo button which should then display all the thumbnails of the images you have on your iPad, click the top right hand button with the arrow, on the left three buttons appear, one of which is delete. If you put your finger on the first image you want to delete the blue & white arrow is seen, without taking your finger from the screen run your finger over the other thumbnails and in succession the tick will be seen against the images, the delete button will show the number of images you have selected, when you are satisfied click the delete button.
As I said not elegant !

  • How can I delete photos from camera roll but not from another album??

When I create a new album and copy some pictures from the camera roll to the new album, they stay on the camera roll, and when I delete one of the copied ones from camera roll it also gets deleted from the new album, how can I avoid this???

You can't. The way that I consider it to work is that you are effectively just creating a pointer to the photo in the new album (I don't think that the total number of photos on the device increases when you 'copy' them into new albums), so if you then delete the original photo you will also delete all the pointers to it.

  • How can I delete photos from camera roll to give me more storage

I Upgraded to an iPhone 4 from a 3GS (mainly because it was a 99¢ promotion).  I have only a little over 1GB—maybe less—left and it doesn't have music on it yet.  I figured my photos are the answer but can't figure out how to delete them from the camera roll.  Any body out there know how?.  Also other ways of getting more room on my 4?  I know a 4s comes with more unless someone gives one away, or another 99¢ promotion comes along I can't afford it on a fixed income.
    THanks!

  • How do I delete images from Preview?

I'm trying to create more space on my HD.  I find there are a lot of images that I thought I deleted in the program "Preview."  Do these images take up memory space and, if so, how do I delete them? Can't seem to copy them onto an external hard drive or delete them.

Yes, images take up storage space.
Images are not stored in the Preview app.
Open a Finder window then select Pictures on the left.
If you do not see PIctures in the Sidebar on the left, with the Finder open, press Command ,  (comma) to open Finder Preferences then select the Sidebar tab.
    Select:  Pictures
Then in the Pictures folder, right or control a photo then click Delete. Or hold down the Shift key to select mulitple photos then click Delete.
There are other ways of freeing up storage space >  Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage
Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space.

  • Aperture is not deleting images from 'camera'

I eject the CF card from my camera and put in a USB reader and plug it into the USB cable (from back of iMac to female). Aperture dutifully imports the images into my library then asks if I want to delete the files and eject. I click on that option and it asks again if I'm sure. I click on delete and eject.
Then Aperture ejects the CF without deleting the files.
Is there something I'm doing wrong?
    Any advise?

Sometimes the FAT table becomes corrupt and the card needs a reformat. If you just delete files from the card, a hidden problem may jump out and bite you when you least want it.
It's always preferable to reformat in-camera than to delete files using computer software.

  • How do delete photos from iphone after import to new photos app?

With iphoto (or aperture which I own), after importing photos I was always asked if I wanted to remove the photos's from my phone. With the new photo's app I don't get that option, and I certainly don't want to delete 1200 photos by having to individually select each one on the phone. Any ideas?

You should ask on the forum that Apple told you to use for Beta software discussions. This isn't the place. The moderators will likely soon remove your post.

  • How to I delete pictures from camera roll but not album on ipad

I am trying to delete pictures from my camera roll without having to delete them pictures from the album..  The reason for this is I have organised my pictures into albums on iPad and therefore would like to delete from camera roll however when I attempt to do this it says it will delete from album as well. Is there any way round this. Thanks.

No there isn't. The original photo is being stored in the camera roll and the copy of the photo is in the album. If you remove the photo from the camera roll, you will delete it from any albums that it might be in as well.
With the benefit of an edit - my comments are with regard to trying to this on the device itself.
