How do I delete Java preferences?

I have having very inconsistent performance problems with a Java program I am running (MagnumOpus, from Crauswords.com). I would like to know whether it is safe to simply drop the Java Preferences folder into the trash (to rebuild them). I recall this was the "old way" of doing things like this, but that was several Mac versions ago; and I don't recall doing it with a whole folder labelled "preferences." And I've never tried it with Java. My google search of this has not helped me so far.

You can see my site at Lingobylingo.com., which probably shows what I'm attempting better than I can explain it here. I thank you for the referrals!
I emailed one of them about whether I can use my own dictionaries, and whether they support foreign characters; and I see that Crossword Forge's latest version does now construct a "standard" type puzzle. I'll have to do a lot more checking before I decide to "switch," because I have spent so much time with the program I am using, and I do know that it is supposed to do what I want--to make theme puzzles which focus on a particular part of learning a language; these must be interactively solvable on the web; they must be bilingual English & Spanish; and they must "look right" with the accents and tildes. And of course, they must be easily accessible for all platforms.
Even though I'm learning that even many Windows users don't have Java installed; I have been kind of under the impression that Java did the best job when it comes to merging two languages into a program.
But I will check further. I thank you so much.

I'm really not sure what you mean by the HTML 'version'. The only thing I can associate with that is HTML Spec. 3.2, 4.01, 5.0 etc., but I cannot see how it relates to anything I mentioned (and in any case, the 'version' should be obvious from the copy/pasted HTML).
..The website is our client website and this problem is coming during login. I won't be able to share the credentials with you. I don't want any 'credentials', but I will expect that if you are serious about solving this problem, you will set up a version of the applet at a public URL so others can see it fail if they think it will help solve the problem. Of course, what you do is up to you, because ultimately it is your problem, not ours. (I just thought I'd stress that last part to indicate to you that it is your onus to encourage people to read, experiment & answer.)
The only change I need to do to make it work is enable update 23 and disable update 24 in Java Control Panel.Have you tried searching the bug database for hits? There were some security updates in 1.6.0_24 that affected a number of things, including copy and access to the Robot. Perhaps there was a bug introduced at the same time.
..Unless I have misunderstood & what you are trying to do is somehow related to (yet) another security bug fix. ;)

  • How can i find java preferences on MAC 10.8.2

I recently upgraded to the new Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.2 but I can't find Java preferences anymore. I need to go onto an online banking page but it needs me to adjust some settings through Java Preferences, kindly please inform where can I get to the Java Preferences page?

The last Java update disabled Java plug-in and removed Java Preferences.app from your Utilities folder.
You can re-enable Java by follwing this support article

  • Final Cut Pro 5: How do i delete the preference files

Wen trashing prefrences, out of Final Cut Pro Obj Cache and Final Cut Pro Prof Cache what one do i trash?

Oddly enough, according to Apple's Knowledge Base article (for FCP 5), the answer is neither. <shrug> (this must be new for FCP 5)
Once you're done with that, go ahead and download FCP Rescue - graciously hosted by Patrick Sheffield - so you don't have to get your hands dirty the next time you're forced to do this.

  • How to add new Java version to Java Preferences?

    Greetings,
I know Java 7 is not officially supported, but I know it works.
I built 1.70.jre and put it in /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines, but I do not know how to add to  Java Preferences.
Does anyone know where the list of Java versions is stored and how to add a version to it?
    Thanks

Fixing the permissions did not fix it.
I think there  to be a record somewhere of what version are where. That is probably set if you use am installer which I do not have. I only have the file I copied there.
I found out that typing this in Terminal...
    export JAVA_HOME=/Library/Java/1.7.jre/Contents/Home
...temporarily sets that version to the one being used, but it is only for that Terminal session, and it still does not show in Java Preferences.
I need to know how to get it into Java Preferences. It might be some command I don't know.

  • Delete Lightroom preference file

Windows 7 64 bit. Currently with a Photographer CC bundle. Every time I open LR 5.5 and now 5.6 it acts as though its the first time and displays the tips dialog and changes my custom identity plate back to the original. On exit it prompts to backup even though I have it set to backup once a week on exit. My question is should I try to delete the preference file and try again or should I try a uninstall re install. How do you delete the preference file? I don't want to make things worse.

Deleting the preference file is the first and easiest thing to try -- it won't make things any worse:
Preference and other file locations in Lightroom 5
Reinstalling is the second thing to try.

  • How Do I delete a device in the sound output preference?

    Hello,
I paired a bluetooth headset with my G4 17". I've since lost the headset, and can't seem to figure out how to delete it from the sound preference pane. I have deleted it from the bluetooth menu, but it still shows up in the sound preference.
I'm trying to pair a Logitec bluetooth headphones with my mac. Logitech has a support page on this one

It seems to work, but then when I go to the sound preference pane, it does not show up as an option for output... only the old bluetooth palm treo headset shows up.
how do I delete this, or trash the sound preferences? Any help in getting this solution to work is greatly appreciated.

  • How do I delete any previous versions of Java from my machine

My name is Mason McFadden. I like to play on a game site called http://www.pogo.com/ in safari & several other internet browsers for the mac. I'm having many issues with the games such as freezing, my game window being squished smaller, games not loading, games getting stuck, etc.
Pogo's support team has told me to make sure that all previous versions of java on my machine are uninstalled, and to update my java via a link they provided me with. However, on a mac, I don't see java listed in the applications folder, therefore I'm unsure of how to "uninstall any java versionsI may have if you will. Pogo games run on Java, which is why it needs it, and pogo believes there's a problem in my java, and it's crashing.
Does anyone know of this game site? If anyone plays it, do you have any trouble with the games? How can I check out my Java? Although pogo's troubleshooting team told me to try to contact Apple support agents on top of their own support team working at my issue, I thought I might post a community forum first, as the phone calls are fee based. If someone out there has any suggestions or can help me before it be necessary for me to call support agents, I'm open. Please let me know. Does pogo run on a specific version of Java? I have the iMac with OS X 10.6.8. NOT the OS X Lion 10.7. Please let me know. Thank you to all and I look forward to speaking with you soon. I never had any problems when I first got my computer until one day I ran a software update. I hope some of this information is helpful. Thank you again. Enjoy your day!
    Sincerely Yours,
    Mason McFadden

You must select all ur mails and delete them at the same time, then go to the trash folder and delete all mails from there too, also delete mails from send folder and from every folder, that make recovery all those GB you have storaged

I have the same problem, they never told me that, just that the newest version of Java "locks" up streaming quotes.

  • How to undeploy (delete) a Java application

    Hi all,
i have deployed using the SAP Netweaver developer studio and the SDM tool a specific Java application.
As i delete it on my PC i can not re-deploy it because the system tells me that there is already a application with the same name.
How can i delete it directly on the server using for example the deploytool tool or another tool ?
    Thank in advance,
    Eric.

    Hello,
You can also undeploy the application using the SDM tool. Launch the tool by running the remotegui from your usr\sap\SID\JC00\SDM\program. enter your sdm password and then go to the undeployment tab. Pick the application you want to undeploy and add it to the right hand pane and follow the steps in the wizard

  • How do I delete home directory /Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash\Player ?

    How do I delete<home directory>/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash\Player?

Note that it'll be created over every time you load a Flash object in a Web browser (at least if it has Flash enabled).
The only way to consistently get rid of all its content would be to create an AppleScript, or use Automator to create a workflow that would empty this folder when you close the browser.

  • How to program in Java to delete a ZipEntry in ZipFile

As we all known we can delete a zipentry in zipfile easily using WinZip,but how to program in Java to delete a ZipEntry in ZipFile? I can not find API function in ZIP package. Please help me,thanks.

I think there are no methods to delete a particual file from a zip file -
maybe there are packagers for that but not in java.util.zip
you can just write your own function uncompress - and create a new file again - you can look here to get some examples

  • I have mac os x 10.6.8. The system preferences doesn't show java at all. How can I install java please?

    Hi!
I have mac os x 10.6.8. The system preferences doesn't show java at all. How can I install java please?

Don't change your story now. You did not say through Apple, you first gave a link to this site,
    http://www.java.com/en/download/apple.jsp
You said, "Go there and download the latest version of Java"
    that plainly says,
"Mac OS X Version 10.6 and below
Use Software Update available on the Apple menu to check that you have the most up-to-date version of Java 6 for your Mac."
This corroborates me saying that Java for Mac OS 10.6 is done through Software Update, no where else.
If any Mac OS 10.6 user does not have Java on their Mac, they get it from Apple just as the link you provided shows it is from Apple. Not Oracle. You have provided the evidence that plainly contradicts yourself.
This is your second link that is to Apple.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1573
Just to go over this again. Software Update not only updates Java to the latest, but if Java does not exist at all, SU will install it from scratch. And in doing so will be the latest version.
Providing a link to Oracle's site is useless information that does not get Java installed on a Mac running 10.6.
