How do I delete large number of duplicates on my Itunes w/o Ctrl+Click
I have a large number of duplicates that were loaded onto my ITunes and I would like to delete them. So far the only way I have found is to go down the list one at a time and Ctrl+Click and then delete. Since Itunes can designate duplicates, is there a function for removing all the duplicates before I synch my ipod???
Windows XP
Itunes can't mass delete duplicates, but one of the forum member has written a script to do it, see:

If you prefer to go commercial take a look at iTsync

How do I delete large number of email messages?
I get a large number of emails. Is there a way to select them on my iPod Touch 32g in groups rather than one at a time when I delete many messages?
Did you ever find a solution to this?
I, too, would like to DELETE lots of emails at the same time, even ALL of my old emails, without having to use EDIT, then touching each email one at a time, then selecting DELETE. Painfully slow if you have 200+ emails ... this should take 5 seconds, not 10 minutes. -
For instance by dragging across them like you would do to move a block of type. Or any other way. I'm editing about 5,000 images.
The Short answer is the Same Way you select multiple files on the computer system of your choice. Windows would be to click on the first image then hold down the Shift key and select the last image or if they don't run concurrently select the first, hold down the Ctrl key and click the individual files. Once that is don't hit the Delete key and select whether to delete from the just the catalog or Remove from Disk.
On Mac it is the same except the hold down key for selecting non concurrent images and there really isn't a Delete key on a Mac. IIRC you hold down the shift or command key and hit the Backspace key which is labeled Delete. -
How do I group delete the large number of duplicate songs I have accumulated?
I have accumulated a large number of duplicate songs (1600+) due to several passes at restoring data to my itunes library.
Is there a way to delete all but a single version of the files that show up when I click on "show duplicates"?Hey applejcn,
I'd read over this article, it'll go over how to use the Show Duplicates feature in order to remove those 1600 duplicates from your library:

I am trying to delete a large number of songs from my itunes library without having to do it one at a time. How can I do this. All of my songs have check marks by them. Help!
Then I suspect you do not have iTunes Match enabled. Using that "delete all" command in the Settings does not remove the music from the cloud, nor does it disable iTunes Match. With iTunes Match enabled you will still see all the music.
So go to Settings > iTunes and App Store and make sure iTunes Match is set to ON (green). -
how can I remove large number of photos on my iPhone 4s from iTunes using a PC - Lenovo Think Pad - so that I can reduce the space used on the phone by 50%?
You don't need iTunes for that. Simply connect the iPhone to the PC where it will be recognized as a camera. You can then select the photos you wish to transfer, transfer them, and delete them.

How to add a large number of keywords to the e-mail filter?
Hello.
I would like to know how to add a large number of keywords to a filter.
The thing I want to accomplish, is it to add around 4000 e-mail addresses to a filter list, which checks the body of incoming e-mails, which get forwarded to me.
I don't want to outright delete them, but I would love it if it detects that the forwarded message contains one of the e-mail addresses, it would add a tag to the message.
Is it in any way possible to make a filter like this, which doesn't slow Thunderbird down to ass-crawl speed?
I tried to copy the whole list into the small filter tab, but It had no discernible effect on my messages, since some of the previously received ones, which I was sure contained the keywords, were not tagged. All it did was make the program super slow and I was forced to delete the filter. You can look at creating a exclusion crawl rule:

You can also modify your content source starting addresses and remove onedrive:

I have two numbers listed in my messages tab under settings. One number is checked(mine) and other is not(my sons). However when someone sends me a test it goes to both numbers. Mine and my sons. How do I delete his number so that he no longer received texts intended for me.
The best way is to not share Apple IDs but also make sure under Settings & Messages on both devices that only one phone number is checked.

My brother and I share an iTunes account and his text messages show up on MY macbook. His texts don't show up on my phone though. how can i delete his number off my iMessage on my laptop?
These are iMessages only.
He activated iMessage on his iPhone with the same Apple ID that you activated iMessage with on your Mac.
On your Mac, go to Messages preferences.
Under the Settings selection for your Apple ID, deselect your brother's phone number for you can be reached for messages at. -
how can i delete a number of emails at once? I have a backlog and don't want to go through them all.
No.
With an Exchange or IMAP account you can delete the messages with the email client used on your computer or via webmail access for the account - all server stored mailboxes are kept synchronized with the server with each email client used to access the account.
Not possible with an antiquated POP account. -

Best way to delete large number of records but not interfere with tlog backups on a schedule
Ive inherited a system with multiple databases and there are db and tlog backups that run on schedules. There is a list of tables that need a lot of records purged from them. What would be a good approach to use for deleting the old records?
Ive been digging through old posts, reading best practices etc, but still not sure the best way to attack it.
Approach #1
A one-time delete that did everything. Delete all the old records, in batches of say 50,000 at a time.
After each run through all the tables for that DB, execute a tlog backup.
Approach #2
Create a job that does a similar process as above, except dont loop. Only do the batch once. Have the job scheduled to start say on the half hour, assuming the tlog backups run every hour.
Note:
Some of these (well, most) are going to have relations on them.Hi shiftbit,
According to your description, in my opinion, the type of this question is changed to discussion. It will be better and
more experts will focus on this issue and assist you. When delete large number of records from tables, you can use bulk deletions that it would not make the transaction log growing and runing out of disk space. You can
take the table offline for maintenance, a complete reorganization is always best because it does the delete and places the table back into a pristine state.
For more information about deleting a large number of records without affecting the transaction log.

Hope it can help.
