How do i delete multiple playlists created on iphone?

I have a real mess.  My wife (on her iPhone 4) chose to "add a playlist" in her music app.  She did.  We have iTunes Match set up on our Mac and all iPhone and iPad devices (4 iPhones and 3 iPads).  Somehow the playlist cloned itself.  I know have over 16,000 playlists all the same name, with nothing in them.  It has basically locked up the music app on phones.
I cannot delete them on my iTunes on Mac.  I have tried, delete & dragging to trash.  They will not delete.  I cannot choose multiples either.
Does anyone know how to help?

I have this issue too.
Why is iTunes less useful than it was?
for instance, I cant highlight and delete multiple playlists.  I can't see a "list" view of albums, stuck looking at artwork.
when you have a large library, this is unhelpful.

Use command-click to select multiple messages, one at a time.  Use shift-click to select a contiguous set of messages (just like in the Finder).  Then press the delete key.

  • How can I delete multiple playlists on iPad 2

I added one playlist on my iPad 2 and it created hundreds of blank lists.  How do I delete them.

Here are two ways I would try:
You can hold down your shift key while selecting playlists. This allows you to select multiple items. However, it does not allow you to skip over a playlist. All contiguous lists will be selected using this method. Once you have all the playlists selected, right click on the selection and choose delete.
If method one won't work because you want to pick and choose lists to delete, I'd make a folder and pull all of the lists I don't want into this folder. Then you can delete the whole folder. Once you have all of the playlists you no longer want in the folder, just right click on the folder and choose delete.

  • How do i delete multiple pictures stored in iphone without having to delete one picture at a time?

Also, how do i sort the pictures stored in my iphone to categories e.g. food, friends, events or even sort by dates?

You should be importing pics taken with the iphone to your computer regularly as you would from any digital camera. You can delete them all from iphone when you import them.
Once on your computer, you can sort them however you like, and sync whatever you like to your iphone.
Pics synced to iphone from your computer, are deleted the same way you got the there, the sync process.

Have you subscribed to iTunes Match? There is a bug that can sometimes create hundreds of duplicate empty playlists. I've two scripts which might help you clean up: KillEmptyPlaylists and KillTopLevelPlaylists. This post describes a technique for resetting iTunes Match to stop it happening again.

  • How do I delete multiple items at once instead of one at a time?

How do I delete multiple items at once instead of one at a time? I have several duplicate items in my library and would like to delete the duplicates. Thanks!

You can select multiple items using shift to select a range and control to add or remove items from it.
Regarding duplciates, Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group of identical tracks to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin. This can happen, for example, if you start iTunes with a disconnected external drive, then connect it, reimport from your media folder, then restart iTunes.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping, whether you do so by hand or using my script, in case something goes wrong.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed)

  • How do I delete multiple stamps or fields done in version 7, but now I have in Acrobat Pro 9

Most of our files were done printed in PDF with version 7. We have inserted a stamp in version 7. But when I open this file in Version 9, these stamps have become field and the usual action in deleting multiple of these was to just go to navigation tabs/field and highlight them all and click on delete - and it would delete all the stamps or fields in Version 7.
I have noticed that in Version Pro 9, the navigation tab does not have this. How can I delete multiple stamps/or fields in one PDF file?

Since you have the Pro. version of Acrobat X, you can create an Action to automate this process for you. When you create a new action, in the Save to: icon you can set the export format as seen here.

  • How do I delete multiple (thousands) of redundant Groups of Contacts

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion I have noticed that one of my Groups in Contacts has self-replicated so that there are now several thousands of copies of that one Group. My Contacts are on iCloud. No other Groups nor any Contact records seem to have been duplicated. I have tried deleting the Groups individually but there are so many of them that I don't seem to be having much effect. If anything, it feels like every time I try to delete a Group, more Groups of the same name are being created, but this might just be a bit of paranoia creeping in.
Is there a way to select and delete multiple groups, or even one group in its entirity, all in one go (a bit like shift-selecting)? Shift-selecting, Command-selecting, drag-selecting and so-on don't seem to allow me to select more than one Group simultaneously.

I'd like to continue to use match ... I'm hoping someone has a solution for deleting multiple playlists at a time.  There was a thread last year that detailed the issue but I'm having trouble locating it.  Hoping someone who has been through this will be able to provide some insight.

Try this thread which describes how to do the clean up by hand when the circumstances make that easy enough and gives the background to my script DeDuper which takes away the guesswork of which 2 out of 3 to delete.
