How do I delete music from an iPad, swiping left or right does nothing except cause the song to play. Using IOS 8

I Have "acquired" 6 songs on my iPad downloaded I suspect by my partner when she was messing with Apple TV, I cannot delete them using the swipe technique outlined on the official help page, anybody got any ideas ?

I don't know anything about how Apple TV works or works in conjunction with an iOS device.  AFAIK, deleting songs should work the way that you are trying to do it no matter where they came from.
Try this. Settings>General>Usage>Manage Storage>Music. Look for the songs in there and they can be deleted via the Edit button or the swipe from right to left method,

How can I delete music from my iPad Air other than one song at a time? I would like to delete a few albums.  I am still on iOS 7.

You can either sync the iPhone and iPad to a computer that has your music on it and make sure the U2 album is not on the computer. Or you can delete all of the music from both devices (settings > general > usage > manage storage > music. Then redownload your music from your purchase history on the iTunes store
Also the U2 album is attached to your apple id. To remove it, you will need to go here ---> https://itunes.com/soi-remove

How do I delete music from my iPad without it being downloaded again from cloud? Please help.

    Hi roy1939,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The variable that has changed with iOS 7 is the "Show All Music" option in Settings > iTunes & App Store. This feature displays your iTunes in the Cloud purchases on your device (while they are not locally stored). You can identify these by the "cloud download" icon on the right.
To hide your iTunes in the Cloud purchases, disable this feature in Settings > iTunes & App Store.

Remove a song from iPad. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPad, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.

how do i delete music from my iPad?

Depends on what you want to delete.
for albums, navigate to the album view, tap an hold on the album cover, then tap the X that appears.
a playlist works basically the same way, but will not actually delete the tracks
For individual song, you should be able to swipe adn tap the delete button, but that funtion doesn't appear to be working.

  • HT1386 how do i delete music from my ipad? I have deleted the music from my itunes but when I sync it does not delete off my ipad

How do I delete music from my ipad? I have deleted the music from my itunes but when I sync it wont come off my ipad.

If you don't want to delete too much then you can do it directly on the iPad. You can either swipe across track names and you should get a delete button, or on the album or artist selection screens you can press and hold an album or artist and you should then get an 'x' on its top corner which will delete the album or artist if you tap it.
If you want to delete more then it may be quicker to connect the iPad to your computer, and on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes under the iPad device you should see a Music section (if you don't see the content types listed then click the arrow next to the iPad's name) - select that and on the right-hand side you should see a list of the music that is on your iPad, and you can then select and delete them.

  • How do I delete music from my ipad when I synced with ITunes

How do I delete music from my iPad 2?

If manually managing music on your iPad then you can delete music directly in the Music app on your iPad by swiping/dragging across them from right-to-left (or via Settings > General > Usage > Manage Storage > Music), or by connecting the iPad to your computer's iTunes and using the Music section under the 'on my device' heading to select and delete them :
If not manually managing your music then you can delete the music directly in the Music app by swiping/dragging (or via Settings), but when you next sync to your computer's iTunes it's likely to get synced back - so you may want to just reconnect your iPad to your computer's iTunes, change your music sync options to deselect what you no longer want on your iPad, and sync that new selection

  • TS4009 How do I delete music from my iPad

I'm trying to delete music from my iPad in order to make more room for storage so I can download a software update. I will access iTunes music from the iCloud or download music manually when I want to have songs on the iPad.  How do I delete iTunes music?

By connecting the iPad to your computer's iTunes, and either removing it from the list of music that you sync to the iPad and re-syncing, or selecting Music under the iPad 'device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and deleting the tracks that you don't want. You can't delete music directly on the iPad

  • How can I delete music from my iPad mini?

I want to delete music from my iPad mini, as in from the library but I can't seem to be able to. Does anyone know how to do this?

If the music is downloaded/synced to the Music app (i.e. it's not in the cloud, it doesn't have the cloud icon against it) then you should be able to delete tracks by swiping/dragging across them from right-to-left.  If you have iOS 8 on your iPad then you can use the swipe/drag to also delete albums and/or artists, or you can delete tracks / albums / artists via Settings > General > Usage > Manage Storage (under 'storage' heading) > Music. You can also delete all music via Settings > General > Usage > Music on iOS 7, Settings > General > Usage > Manage Storage > Music on iOS 8.
If the music does have the cloud against it then you can stop cloud music showing via Settings > iTunes & App Store > Music (under 'show all') 'off'
You can also delete music when connected to your computer's iTunes, either by changing your sync selection if using automatic syncing, or by selecting Music under the iPad 'device' on the left-hand sidebar of iTunes (option-comman-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC, should enable/disable the sidebar) and using the right-hand side of the iTunes screen to select and delete music

How do I delete music from my iPod Nano?

Remove those songs from the list of items in iTunes set to sync with the iPod, and then sync it. If you're syncing it manually, select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar, find that music, and press Delete.
There is no way to do that from the device itself.

I've stored music using ITunes Match.  I then download songs from iTunes Match to my IPad.  How do I, or can I, delete the aforementioned music from my iPad so to keep storage on iPad low while still maintaining ability to download from iTunes Match again if and when desired.

I'm trying to delete purchased music from my ipad.  <Swiping > doesn't work and neither does going to settings / general / ... delete all music.

  • How do I delete music from my iPad but not from iTunes?

I downloaded music to my iPad from the Cloud through iTunes Match.  How do I now delete them or remove them from the device but leave them on iTunes?  Thanks!

When you connect to your computer iTunes, in the summary page check to sync manually.  Open the music library on the iDevice and selectively delete the music you want to delete.  Then you will have to manually sync to it to deal with the mismatch.

  • How do I delete music from my iPad's iPod?

I need to delete a couple of albums from the iPod on my iPad2. How do I do this?

You can unsync the albums within iTunes.
Connect your iPad to your computer, (with the cable or wirelessly) select the iPad on the left side, click on the Music Tab on the right, uncheck the albums in the music section and then click Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
Apparently you can now delete music directly from the device in iOS 5 as well.

    Copied from the article
The process is just like deleting an unwanted email in your inbox. Simply find the track(s) you don’t want on your iOS 5 device anymore, slide your finger over the track listing to the left or the right to reveal a hidden “delete” button, and then select “delete” and the track is gone. Unfortunately there’s no mass delete option, so those Backstreet Boys songs are gonna have to be deleted one at a time.
