How do I delete music off of my iPhone to get more storage space?
I want to delete music off of my iPhone to free up storage space. I want the music completely off and no iCloud download next to the music so I don't use data as well.
To delete you songs in iPod and not in iTunes library, you have to put iTunes Device sync to Manually Manage ticked as below,
the example, is for iPod Touch, but applicable to iPod Classic.
To sync your content manually:
Connect your iPod, iPhone, or iPad to your computer and select your device in iTunes (below Devices)
Click the Summary button and select “Manually manage music and videos” (below Options).
Select a category (below Library).
Do any of the following:
To add items to your device, drag videos, playlists, artists, genres, and albums to your iPod, iPhone, or iPad (below Devices).
To delete a song or selection of songs from your device, select the song/s and press the Delete key.Removing a song from your device doesn’t delete it from your iTunes library.
Before you disconnect your device, click the Eject button .

If its to save room I wouldn't drag the files to the trash. That would get rid of them for good. I know you said you can't by computer, if your syncing with that computer, under music when it's connected, don't sync full library. Go through and select the certain songs you want. If its to delete just off your iPad because you don't have a comp read what ana posted.

I sync any photos you synced there from your computer. You can delete camera roll photos when you see the thumbnails by tapping edit and then ticking the photos you want gone and then tap delete. You can delete photos in settings/general/usage/photos and camera swipe across camera roll and then tap delete to delete everything in the camera roll. You can do the same for photo library and photo stream if you want them all gone

What apps are you trying to delete? Apps that come on the phones cannot be deleted in this fashion. Only apps you purchase from the app store can be deleted.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! Are you using a service to sync/backup your contacts? Perhaps iCloud? If so, managing your contacts via a web client might be easier for bulk jobs. For example, if you are using iCloud for contacts, you can logon to iCloud.com and easily delete contacts with the push of a button:

Why can't I delete music off of my iphone 5?
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to delete music off of my phone. It has all the new updates.
Normally what I do is plug my phone into my macbook and then right click and click delete under the music option. But when I right click there is no delete option at all.
Also, you cannot swipe left to right on your phone and delete it that way either. I've done everything everyone has suggested on here. Is there an actual apple support tech that can help us? I have unwanted songs taking up space. Why is there no delete option at all? That makes no sense!I've figured it out. Go to the Music tab when you plug your phone in, and scroll all the way down. There should be a section called "Manually Added Songs", and when you highlight a song, there's a "Remove" button that you can use. Good luck!

I just updated my hard drive, and haven't synced my phone to my laptop in a while because it wasn't working until now. Now, I'm trying to delete music off of my phone/generally manage it but when I left click on a song it only gives me about 4 options, none of them are delete.
To delete a track from your phone (you are in the 'on my device' music section ?) then just select/highlight the track and press the delete button on your keyboard.

I accidentally downloaded a free song from Starbucks months ago, and now I can't get it off my phone. It won't show up when I manually delete music, either on my computer or when I try the swipe method on my phone. It's just there.
There's two songs, actually, and I want them both gone. Turning off my cloud connection didn't change it because they are downloaded onto my phone and won't leave! To delete a song:
Tap the Music app.
Tap the Songs category.
Swipe left to right over the song you want to delete.
Tap Delete.

Via the same way the songs were transferred to your iPhone - via the iTunes sync process.
