How do I delete old Numbers databases?

I've had to sort a subgroup from a large group and now can't delete my copy that I made of the subgroup. If I drag them to the trash, I can't empty the trash.
Any help would be appreciated. Pat

Hi Pat,
I can, and just did. I emptied my Trash, which contained several Numbers documents, and the action was completed without incident.
After doing so, I realized there was a good possibility that none of these documents had been dragged to the Trash (My usual practice has been to use command-delete to move items to the Trash). So I immediately opened an existing Numbers document, did a Save as with it and saved it under a second name, then dragged the new file to the Trash, then tried to empty the trash.
That (or the previous action—moving it to the Trash—produced an error message stating the action could not be performed as Numbers was using the file.
I closed the file in Numbers, and tried again. This time there was no message, and the file (which had been dragged to the Trash) was immediately deleted.
This seems to be a Finder issue more than a Numbers one. I would suggest posting it as a question in the OS X community for the OS X version installed on your iMac G5.
Include a detailed account of the actions you took and the response to each action by the computer.
To get to the correct community, click Apple Support Communities at the top of this page, then scroll down to the Mac OS and System Software section and choose the OS X version link applicable to your computer. If you don't know what OS X version you are using, click the Apple menu at the left end of the menu bar and choose the first item, About this Mac. You;ll see the version number on the splash screen that opens.

I could see different possible ways to limit the database size on a LabVIEW DSC system.
a) You could limit the lifespan of your logged data to a certain time by adjusting the option 'Days to keep historical data' in the Tag Configuration Editor>Configure>Historical... tab.
b) You could use the Citadel Database VIs. Archive Database.vi would allow you to archive a database or a part (certain traces/tags, or certain time interval) to another location. With the archive option 'destructive', it would delete the source of the data from the original database.
Delete Traces.vi would delete a traces from a database.
c) The same/similar functionality you can have throught the Measurement and Automation Explorer and its Historical Data Viewer plug-in
b) and c) are NEW features of LabVIEW DSC 6.1!

You can log out of an account by tapping on its id in Settings > iTunes & App Store (and for iCloud via Settings > iCloud > Delete Account, Sign Out if on iOS 8). Any content that was downloaded by the account will remain tied to it, so only that account can potentially redownload its purchases and/or download updates to its apps

I have a similar problem. The default answer on the web is to open Videos on your iPad, then touch and hold the movie you wish to delete, then tap the little cross that appears. Alternatively, you can connect to iTunes, select your device in the list, scroll down to the Rentals summary and delete from there.
I have a problem with both of these solutions! The Video App on my iPad does not contain any video icons, just an option to browse my shared library, so I can't delete it from there... ANd in iTunes, the movie in the Rntals tab on my device summary is greyed out, so I can't do anything from there either. But the movie is taking up 2.5 Gb....
Can someone please offer an alternative to resetting the device entirely?!

Do they appear in Mail? That is are they listed in a Mail window? If so then scroll down to the target date, select the first email for that date. Hold down the SHIFT key and scroll to the last mesage you wish to delete and click on it. This should select all the messages between your start and end date. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on your selection and click on Delete in the context menu.
Oh, be sure you have your messages sorted by Date Received.

You could click on the time capsule in the SHARED panel in Finder, then enter your data folder and delete the sparsebundles, but that will take some hours for the delete to finish with the millions of nodes.
You could also use the airport utility and click on the DISK tab, then do a quick erase.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
All backups made on iCloud overwrite the old one, so you have only the latest backup with your most recent files. If you have a backup of an old device, open Settings > iCloud > Storage and Backup > Manage Storage, select the backup and delete that backup
