How do I delete or close Apps that I no longer want or need?

I need to open up space on my ipad and need to delete apps that I no longer need. I don't know how to do this though! Please HELP!

You press on any app and hold for about 3 seconds. Then the apps will start to shake. Click on the little 'x' on the apps you want to delete.
To close apps, hold down the home button until a black bar rises. Again, hold an app for about 3 seconds and it'll start to shake again. This time, it'll be a '-' sign. Click on that to close the app.

I hae been having trouble activating my McAfee security app. While working through the issue with their tech support, one of the first questions was of course to know if there is a previous version of the app installed. WHen I try to delete the file through the file explorer, the tablet tells me that the file has been protected so that it can only be deleted through the Lenovo App Shop, which of course no longer exists. Press and hold any of the apps and after a couple of seconds or so they should start to shake. Then press the 'x' in the left corner to delete the ones that you don't want, and when you've finished deleting press the home button so as to stop the shaking. You cannot delete any of the Apple built-in apps e.g. Music, App Store, Game Centre etc. If you don't get the 'x' on any of the apps that you've downloaded then check that Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps isn't set 'off'

You cannot delete/remove apps from your App Store purchases. They will remain there forever but they are not necessarly still on the device. You can hide your past purchases but need to do so using iTunes.

As was mentioned, just because they are showing in your purchases, it does not mean that they are on the device. If you have deleted them from the device and are no longer on the device, they are not using any of your device's storage. You'l' have to look elsewhere to see what is taking up the space you are missing.
Check Settings>General>Usage, then tap on Show all Apps to get an idea of what is physically on the device (Apps, Music, Photos, Videos, etc.)

How do I delete a Shared Printer that is no longer here?

In the left pane in a finder window under "SHARED" there is a printer that use to be my sons. He moved out and took that printer with him, but I can't remove the shared printer reference now.
It's no big deal, but it is a small annoyance.

How can I delete topic index keywords that are no longer associated with a topic?

I am trying to clean up the index of an older Robohelp project before it becomes part of a merged webhelp project. I do not want to include any of its index keywords or topic keywords. I've managed to remove most of them, but I have a group of troublesome entries that refuse to go away. In fact, they cause RH8 to crash. I am running Windows XP.
Looking at the code in Visual Studio, it appears that an instruction is pointing to field which contains "zero". (see image below)
I have tried creating a new index and deleting the old index, but RH just keeps adding these topic keywords (in bold typeface) to the new index. If the keywords are no longer associated with a topic, where is RH storing these disassociated keywords? If I open the .hhk, it is empty.

Not sure why RH crashed when deleting a portion of the topic keywords manuall

Start the FxFactory application, and choose 'Uninstall FxFactory' from the Actions menu.
That would be the instruction if you still have the application somewhere.
I think if you go to your main hard drive and open the Library/Application Support folder, you'll see a folder named Noise Industries. Delete that folder.
