How do I delete photos from my iPad but keep them on my mac?

How do I delete photos from my iPad but keep them on my mac?

Set iPhoto to automatically import photo stream photos to your iPhoto library:
Once imported, deleting them from your photo stream will not delete them from your library.  If they aren't imported yet, contol-click on the photos and choose Import.

  • How can I delete photos from my iPhone but keep them in iCloud?  I.e. I want more than just a backup of what's on my phone, I want selective storage of my photos.  Can iCloud do that?

    Hi,
Can I use iCloud as photo storage rather than just backup?  Right now, it just syncs the photos from my iPhone.  I want to delete some photos from my phone, but keep them in the cloud.
I also want to be able to adjust the settings of certain folders in iPhoto to do different things.
I.e. I have a "work" folder in my photos app on my iphone.  I want all the photos and videos in this folder to be stored in dropbox and be erased from my iPhone.
I have a "family" folder in my photos app on my iPhone.  I want all the photos and videos in this folder to be stored in iCloud and erased from my iPhone.
Finally, why can't I log into iCloud from anywhere and see my photos?  For example, when I go to my friend's house, I want to be able to log into iCloud from his computer and show him photos that are no longer saved on my phone, but rather stored in the cloud.
Would I be better off with dropbox, flickr, or Amazon for something like that?
    Thanks!
    Amy

If you have the photos on your computer a great way to test is to remove your phone from your computer and see if the photos are still on it; if they are still on your computer you are free to do so
Also when you are importing photos from the device to iPhoto you should get the option to delete after importing

  • How do I delete photos on my iPad but keep them on my iMac?

When I mark photos for deletion on my iPad, and select "delete" it asks "delete everywhere?" - YIKES I don't want that, just need more space on iPad.

Photos that were taken with the iPad (or any photos in the camera roll) can be deleted right on the iPad. Tap the trash can icon in the top right corner if you are viewing the photo in full screen, or if you are viewing as thumbnails - tap the arrow in the upper right corner - tap the photos that you want to delete and then tap - Delete.
Photos that were synced from your computer using iTunes can only be deleted by de-selecting them from the folder from where they were synced -  and then re-syncing.
Connect the iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Photos Tab on the right. It will be at the top of the screen in the iTunes window
Deselect or uncheck all of the albums within the main photo folder (usually iPhoto on the Mac) that you sync from that you want to remove
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
If you want to remove all of the photos deselect or uncheck the Sync Photos from heading.

how do I delete photos from camera roll but keep same photo in album

You can't. The albums that you created on the iPad do not actually contain copies of the photos, but merely pointers to those photos. If you remove the photos from the camera roll, they will be removed from the iPad. Albums on the iPad are simply for your own organization on the device. Those albums cannot be imported to your computer either, since the photos do not exist in the albums.

The only way you can do that is to import them into your library first, but you may have done that already.
The easiest way to tell is to select a photo from the photostream album in iPhoto and ctrl-click on it, if it gives you the option to import it isn't in your iPhoto library, if it offers you the option to show in library it has already been imorted.

  • HT6378 How can I delete photos from my phone and keep them on Icloud?

I want to make room for more photos on my phone without loosing the photos

Use services like dropbox, Google drive or One Drive to back up your pictures and then delete it from your phone or save it to your computer.
You cant do it with icloud because, its like a sync service. if you delete it from your phone, it'll be deleted from icloud too..

  • How can i remove photos from my phone but keep them on my computer

I want to remove the photos I have taken on my iphone to free space but I want to keep them on my computer? Is this possible?

Photos/videos in the Camera Roll can be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. When there are photos/videos in the Camera Roll, the iPhone is also detected as a digital camera when connected to your computer.
Import utilities include an option to delete the photos/videos from camera after the import process is complete. The same applies after importing photos/videos from the iPhone's Camera Roll.

  • How can I delete photos from my iPad without affecting my journal in iPhoto?

    Hi,
I have recently been on a long trip creating a journal in iPhoto as I go, uploading many gb of photos using the camera connection kit.
I love the way I can view my journal and tap on photos to see them in full screen and maximum quality.
I am now home and need to delete all the photos from my iPad after uploading them to my mac. However when I do this, I can no longer view the photos in my journal in full screen. How can I keep the journal looking as great as it is, without not having to go through and delete only pictures not included in my journal? There are many thousand pics on the iPad now so I need to delete them all...
    Please help!
    Paul

Add the photos you want to your journal.  Then, you delete them from your ipad and they will NOT be deleted from your journal (One of my journals has 1000+ pics of my garden, so I have to delete pics on my 32G ipad).  I've been doing this for 5+ months and never had a problem--all my pics stay in my journal--but note, that every once in a while after I delete the photos from my ipad (via camera roll/photostream-I don't unse iPhoto to delete) it takes up to half an hour for the photos to resync (so sometimes it looks like the photos are missing in the journal but they ALWAYS come back).  Do a test journal and add a page of photos to it.  Then, delete them from your ipad and wait a bit and see what happens.  It always works fine for me, but you could do that just to be on the safe side.

how di I delete photos from my iPad using iOS 8?

I don't know why the TV Show Tab would be unresponsive. Try force closing the Videos App, then reset the iPad and try again.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Something else address is why you don't see the videos in the settings, but if you can't get into the TV section of the Videos app, it really doesn't matter yet. Just to be sure, go to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Show All>Videos>OFF. Make sure that is set to OFF.

What is your iPhoto version on your iPad?
Photos in the Camera roll can be deleted, when browsing them and tapping "Delete".
In iPhoto 2.0 you would delete photos like this: iPhoto Help (iPad):   Delete photos
    Delete photos
Depending on how your photos and video clips were added to iPhoto, do one of the following:
Photos and video clips taken with your device: In iPhoto, tap Albums, tap Camera Roll, tap to select the photos, tap , tap Delete Photo, and tap Delete. The photos are deleted from both iPhoto and your device.
Photos and video clips you synced to your computer using iTunes: Connect your device to your computer and, in iTunes, deselect the photos and video clips you want to remove from your device. Click Apply.
Photos in the Beamed, Photo Box, iTunes, or [App] album: Tap a photo, tap (tap Edit if you don’t see the tool), tap Delete Photo, and tap Delete.
