How do I delete photos PERMANENTLY?

I have moved photos to the trash can and emptied the trash can multiple times and they keep popping back up in Iphoto. Not just Iphoto but many other files are not actually being deleted. Plus, I'm finding random snapshots of my family's phone numbers etc. that I didn't take.
WHAT KIND OF SECURITY IS THIS....I'm about to smash this piece of crap, delete my account. this is blackmail. Some idiot told me to download avast as well. There are NO APPS that help with anything on this Macbook Pro piece of worthless ****. Complete wasted investment.
I don't even know where the icloud website went with all of my stories etc. I can't figure out how to go into icloud or shut off icloud. My iphone was stolen and I didn't want all my backup files restored but the idiot at the phone company wanted me to wait ten minutes so I got all my contacts back. I got a new Iphone and now it's just a mess. I have all these pictures I want gone and I can't get rid of them. I have deleted them from my phone, and there are even parts where there are no option to delete the photos from my iphone.
And there are random images cropping up on my mac of other photos. Photos of phone numbers on my Iphone! SCREENSHOTS OF CHATS AND CONVERSATIONS THAT I NEVER TOOK!

It sounds like some image files were accidently imported into iPhoto. It's happended to others when a folder was inadvertantly dropped onto the iPhoto icon in the Dock thus importing all image files in that folder.  One user somehow dropped the Applications folder onto the iPhoto icon importing all of the graphic image files in those application.  Caused a real mess.
Also you may not be deleting photos from the iPhoto LIbrary properly:
Deleting Photos from an iPhoto Library
1 - from an Event or the Photos mode: select the photo(s) and use the Delete key to move the photos to the trash bin. Then empty the iPhoto Trash bin as follows:
2 - from an album, smart album, book, slideshow, card, etc.: select the photo(s) and use the key combination of Command+Option+Delete to move the photos to the trash bin.  Then empty the trash bin as above.
3 - lastly, empty the Trash bin in the Dock as the files get moved there for one last opportunity to abort the deletion.
NOTE: deleting a photo from an album, slideshow, book, etc., with only the Delete key only deletes that photo from that item. Deleting a photo from an Event deletes ALL occurences of that photo in the library.

MDo you have an external HD you can store the full iPhoto library on?  If so copy your library to it as your backup.
Then open the library on your Mac and create a smart album with the criteria Date is before XX/XX/XXXX.  This will display all photos before that date. You can then select groups of about 100 photos and type Command+Option+Delete to move them to the iPhoto Trash where you can empty it.  Then repeat for another batch of about 100. iPhoto chokes when trying to delete large numbers of photos.
Or if you know which Events you want to remove just select a couple and drag them to the iPhoto Trash bin and empty.

My storage is almost full on iphone. How do I delete photos from icloud?

You can just tap Delete Back Up, you don't need to turn off iCloud.
Deleting the backup only permanently deletes the backup from iCloud.  It doesn't do anything the the data currently on your phone.  You will want to create a new backup as soon as possible after doing this, however, as you won't have one until your do.  You can either intiate this manually to create one immediately by connecting your phone to your charger and to wifi, then going to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup and tapping Back Up Now at the bottom (this will take some time to complete the first time), or you can just connect it to your charger and wifi before you go to bed and it should back up automatically (and continue to do so once daily).
You don't need to manually connect your phone to your computer to back up to wifi, but it's a good idea to create a second backup using iTunes occasionally in case your iCloud backup ever fails (I do this weekly).  To do this, connect your phone to your computer, open iTunes, click on the name of your phone in iTunes, go to the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and click Back Up Now.  (Your phone will continue to automatically back up to iCloud daily; this is just a second, manual backup, on your computer.)

Replying to my own post - heh. I downloaded iExplorer (http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/) which allowed me access to the files on the phone and there was the phantom movie in the DCIM folder. Deleted it, and all is well - although I still have 0.65gb of Other in iTunes.....

  • How do I delete photos from iPod Touch?  Some photos do not have the trash basket option!

How do I delete photos from iPod Touch?  Some photos do not have the trash basket option!
When I first synced my iPod Touch with my laptop, it uploaded a lot of photos onto the iPod.  I now wish to delete those but it does not seem as a straight forward option!

For photos synced to the iPod you have to unsync them:
To delete photos from your device
In iTunes, select the device icon in the Devices list on the left. Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
    Choose "Sync photos from."
On a Mac, choose iPhoto or Aperture from the pop-up menu.
On a Windows PC, choose Photoshop Album or Photoshop Elements from the pop-up menu.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
    Click Apply.

Do you mean photos that were synced from a computer ? If you do then you will need to reconnect your iPad or iPhone (this is the Using iPad forum) to your computer's iTunes and move/remove/de-select them from where they were synced from on your computer and re-sync - synced photos can't be deleted directly on a device

How do I delete photos in the icloud and have them stay gone!

The only way you can do that is to import them into your library first, but you may have done that already.
The easiest way to tell is to select a photo from the photostream album in iPhoto and ctrl-click on it, if it gives you the option to import it isn't in your iPhoto library, if it offers you the option to show in library it has already been imorted.

How do I delete photos in Iphoto library that have not been imported?

How did they get there and how do you know that they are there?
If they were not imported and iPhoto is not aware of them then you can be sure your current backup is up to date and tested, quit iPhoto and drag them to the finder trash - But be very careful because if you trash any items that iPhoto knows about you will corrupt your library
Before you empty the trash, launch iPhoto again and be sure everything is working correctly
It is recommended that you never modify the iPhoto library using anything except iPhoto or iPhoto aware programs like iPhoto Library Manager including adding, modifying or deleting items, files or folders within the iPhoto library
Your current case may be one of the very unusual exceptions to this - if they were put there without iPhoto's knowledge

  • How can I delete photos from iPad but not iCloud?

Before setting up iCloud, my girlfriend downloaded photos from her camera to her iPad.  We now have iCloud set up, but the photos on her iPad remain in the "Photos" album instead of Photo Stream.  I would like to delete the photos from the iPad to free up storage space, and move them to the Macbook.  I'm guessing that I would need to somehow move them to Photo Stream then delete the old album where they were stored on the iPad...  Any ideas?
