How do i delete photos?

I have already unchecked the photos in itunes but it still says that there is 282 photos left and it is taking up my memory
I go on my iPod and look and it says that there are no photos but there are albums which i'm assuming is whats taking up my memory.
I couldn't put a screenshot up because it took up too much memory i even tried sizing down 25% original size with paint but it was still too large.
The photo shows photos unchecked and apply was already clicked and it shows that there are still lots of photos on the bottom where it shows whats taking up how much memory.

Try creating an empty folder in Windows where your other photos were synced from. Go into iTunes with the device attached and select that single, empty folder to sync and apply. That will sync to that empty folder and it should clear the device. You can go back in and then remove that folder from the device and sync and you should be cleared out.

Replying to my own post - heh. I downloaded iExplorer (http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/) which allowed me access to the files on the phone and there was the phantom movie in the DCIM folder. Deleted it, and all is well - although I still have 0.65gb of Other in iTunes.....

For photos synced to the iPod you have to unsync them:

If you do then you will need to reconnect your iPad or iPhone (this is the Using iPad forum) to your computer's iTunes and move/remove/de-select them from where they were synced from on your computer and re-sync - synced photos can't be deleted directly on a device

The only way you can do that is to import them into your library first, but you may have done that already.
The easiest way to tell is to select a photo from the photostream album in iPhoto and ctrl-click on it, if it gives you the option to import it isn't in your iPhoto library, if it offers you the option to show in library it has already been imorted.

How did they get there and how do you know that they are there?
If they were not imported and iPhoto is not aware of them then you can be sure your current backup is up to date and tested, quit iPhoto and drag them to the finder trash - But be very careful because if you trash any items that iPhoto knows about you will corrupt your library
Before you empty the trash, launch iPhoto again and be sure everything is working correctly
It is recommended that you never modify the iPhoto library using anything except iPhoto or iPhoto aware programs like iPhoto Library Manager including adding, modifying or deleting items, files or folders within the iPhoto library

How can I delete photos from iPad but not iCloud?

Before setting up iCloud, my girlfriend downloaded photos from her camera to her iPad. We now have iCloud set up, but the photos on her iPad remain in the "Photos" album instead of Photo Stream. I would like to delete the photos from the iPad to free up storage space, and move them to the Macbook. I'm guessing that I would need to somehow move them to Photo Stream then delete the old album where they were stored on the iPad... Any ideas?

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Import' or 'Importing'.
Drag it to the Desktop. *Make no other changes*.
Start iPhoto. Does that help?
If it does then look inside that folder on your desktop. Does it contain anything you want? If not you can trash the folder.

I moved a 40GB file off my MacBook Pro to make room so that I could enable the iCloud Photo Library. I optimised the storage but during this process it used 10GB of space and so I cant now put back the file I took off my mac. I though that once I had optimised the storage I would gain space not loose it!. So i'm wondering how can I delete photos off my MacBook and not off all my devices and so I can get this 40 GB file back on ??

Hi, that's how it works. photos in Photo Stream are these ones that actually exist on your Camera Roll. Photo Stream is an iClous service that helps you to share photos. Just think about Dropbox or any other cloud services, isn't it that you delete a file on your computer, then found the file no longer exist on your other devices?
If you want to keep the photos while making them occupy less space, I suggest you try SafeEraser's Photo Compressor feature. It compress the photos and make it easy for you to keep them on your iPhone without losing much quality.
