How do I delete podcasts from my list, how do I delete podcasts from my list

How do I delete podcasts from my list after they are deleted from my hard drive?  Some old ones have been deleted but the ones since February are still in my list waiting to be downloaded once again.  There are 2 delete options and I'm wondering which one to use.  It no longer gives me an option to delete from my hard drive.  After deleting from my list.  It seems to delete from my hard drive and then sits there.
I would like to use automatic delete, but I need to know if I can change that to 'Save' during the 24 hour period after I'm done listening to the podcast.
This morning everything came back in.  I noticed the settings at the top were all changed to d/l all instead of just 1.  I'm confused about this whole thing and cannot find anything in the way of a tutorial on the Apple/iTunes web site.

Swipe left-to-right across the podcast, hit delete.

  • When I delete a podcast, it immediately reappears with the icloud next to it.  How do I delete it from the list?

What's deal?  When I delete a podcast, it immediately reappears with the icloud next to it.  How do I delete it from the list so that it stays gone?  I only want unplayed episodes.  I have tried all aspects of preferences but this does nothing to help.  I couldn't even delete an episode until I downloaded it, so I thought.  After the downloads, I deleted it only to have it reappear with the iCloud icon next to it.....Thanks for any help!

What is reappearing is just the list entry with the indication that it is available for download - it's not taking up any space on your computer. You can remove it by control- or right-clicking it and choosing 'delete'.
The recent changes in iTunes have confused a lot of people. Here is a summary of the situation:
Only the most recent episode shows when you first subscribe. In the default  'My Podcasts' view click 'Old episodes' to show earlier episodes, click 'Done' to hide them or 'Add all' to keep them there and also add them to List view.
Alternatively, in 'List' view control- or right-click on the name of the podcast or the episode and choose 'Show old episodes' to reveal all the previous episodes.
In both views you can now delete both downloaded or un-downloaded episodes from both views by control- or right-clicking on the name of the episode.
In both views each episode now has a blue circle to the left showing it as unplayed. Each episode can be double-clicked to be played as a stream without downloading it first (so you don't have to wait for it to download fully). Click the cloud icon at right to download it (as you will have to to sync it to an iPod). Note that if you click the cloud icon to the right of the title of the podcast itself, rather than an episode, you will initiate a download of all episodes.

  • How do I delete a podcast icon from my iphone?

I'm somewhat Mac and iphone saavy and have looked all over the Net and these forums for an answer.  No dice! Let's see what you guys got:  I have deleted some podcasts from iTunes that I don't want to see anymore and the icon has stayed on my iphone. They don't show up anywhere in iTunes, but insist on hanging around in the podcast list on my phone. How do I get rid of these???  There is no swipe ability since there are no podcast recordings, just the icons.

Open your podcast app and swipe down on the screen, it will expose the search box and the edit button.

  • How can I delete podcasts from my Mac without them deleting on my iPhone?

I'm trying to free up some space on my office Mac, and there's only one podcast out of several I actually listen to at work. So I deleted one of the other, bigger podcasts from the list in iTunes.
Unfortunately, when I go into the Podcasts app on my iPhone, that podcast has now been deleted from there too. How can I unlink them so that the podcasts I have on my iPhone don't automatically download on my Mac?

when I delete photos in iPhoto will it delete the same ones on my iPhone via iCloud or the next time I plug in my phone?
If you send the photos to your phone using iTunes Photo Sync (iOS: Syncing with iTunes), yes then the albums  and photos that are no longer available on your mac, will be remove from your synced IOS device. To keep them permanently on your phone, save them to the Camera Roll.

  • How do I get iTunes to automatically drop files from it's list that I have deleted?

When I delete files (such as podcasts) for soeme reson iTunes does not see that it's gone. The file stays on the list oniTunes with a ! next to it as well as on the iPod. Is there a setting that will fix this issue?

For the benefit of anyone else who reads this thread, looking for help...
iTunes manages all those simple tasks so that human beings can think about, and get on with, making the more interesting decisions in life. Reliving us of the drugery of life's chores is what computers are best at.
iTunes can remember the number of times any song has been played. While I personally don't worry too much about that, I do use the play count to manage my Smart Playlists.
ITunes offers Smart Playlists, where you set the rules and then iTunes adds and removes songs from the playlist for you, according to those rules. When a Sync (between iTunes and the iPod) takes place, the Playlists on the iPod are updated for you, which means that you don't have to manually move songs in and out of Playlists. (See my use of the iPod, below.)
iTunes can display your Music Library in many different ways, allowing you to find any particular piece of music in your Library, sort that music and generally manage your Library.
iTunes can list songs in last played order, so consider the following scenario: the iPod is connected to the car stereo, but as the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, you are unable to find out the name of the song playing, because you're busy driving. But if you make a note of the time the song finishes playing, or a note of any other song played just before or after, then after the next Sync of the iPod with iTunes, it's then a simple task to get iTunes to list the Last Played times and you can easily find the song that you were interested in. (This happens to me all the time with new albums.)
Everyone has their own preferences for how they listen to their music. iTunes makes it possible to choose the options that suit you, as an individual.
If ever your iPod gets so confused that it needs to be restored, all content is removed from the iPod when you perform a Restore function (using iTunes). After the Restore has been completed, iTunes will put your Library back onto your iPod for you. So within minutes, a very large Library, complete with your Playlists, is added back to your iPod. You could not do that manually without missing out some of your choices or making errors.
When you replace your iPod, either as a result of updating to a newer model, theft or breakage of your old iPod, or simply because it's worn out, iTunes will put your Library onto your new device and you will have all your choices available immediately.
For my own use of the iPod and iTunes, I like to listen to a varied selection of songs, from different styles and moods, but without knowing what's coming next. To this end, I have a Smart Playlist which automatically compiles a playlist of songs, by looking at other Playlists and that fits my preference very well. When I Sync the iPod with iTunes, that Playlist is automatically updated, and songs that have been played are removed from the list. New songs are added. Some songs are left out of that Smart Playlist for:
    2-star rated songs, thireteen months
    3-star rated songs, 5 months
    4&5-star rated songs, 4 months
unrated songs, not played for 14 months, 50 songs only added to this list
...and 80 songs I have never played are added to the list
It's like having my own radio station, with my own personal choice, not that of a music streaming service, and I never get "bored of hearing the same song too frequently". Imagine managing that manually!
Of course, none of this may be enough for some people. It's a free world, choose an alternative make of media player. There's no need to come here and moan about iTunes though, we don't need to know.
I would be curious to know what came first. Tossing the iPod into a box, or creating this thread.

  • How to keep a podcast in a playlist, but delete from Podcast library?

If I move a podcast to a playlist I've created on a certain subject, and then delete it from the podcast section of the library, it disappears from the playlist, as well. How can I move podcasts to a playlist and keep them, and at the same time delete them from the podcast library list?
    Thanks!

Playlists are just links to songs, videos or podcasts that are in your iTunes library. If you delete something from the library it can't be in a playlist. You can have something in the library but not in a playlist but you can't have something in a playlist that isn't in the library.

  • How to re-install deleted podcasts from my iPod?

I am using iTunes 8.1.1 and I see in iTunes that I have about 70 podcaasts listed. If I click on one I can hear it. For some reason, iTunes has deleted all but about 18 from my iPod (a 160GB unit, and maybe 20% filled) and I am wondering how to re-load them?
iTunes tells me they have been deleted because they have not been listened to more than once or twice. I do not necessarily need iTunes to make that decision for me.
I see that the ones that are still on my iPod have a blue dot in the leftmost column (the one with the right-pointing arrow) and the deleted ones have no dot.
I do not see anything in any menus that looks like it means I can re-load these podcasts onto my Mac, so I am asking here.

  • How to delete an unavailable downloading item from download list in iTune ?

I have been trying to download "Tutorial 1 GarageBand" but the page doesn't exist.
It is very annoying to see the red circle always showing up in the corner of the iTune download label,
and the "GarageBand Tutorials" always showing up as the first item whenever I try to download some
podcast episodes, meaning,  the non-exist tutorial is always claiming a waiting spot to be downloaded.
Will highly appreciate it if someone shows me how to delete it from the download list.
    Thank you.

By accident, I found the way - just SWIPE ACROSS the download arrow next to the title,
the arrow turns into a RED label with DELETE, tape on it and the item is removed from the
download list - tried everything last week and nothing worked.  Got a LUCKY STRIKE  in the
wee hours of this morning !!!

I deleted the photos from my iPhone 6 that were synced from my computer automatically but it is still using my storage. How do i fix that? I have tried all of the steps listed in the community.i have the new iTunes 10.

    Hi QuisB123,
If you are having an issue with reclaiming free space after deleting photos from your iPhone, use the steps in this article to assist -
If you get a "Not enough free space" alert on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    Specifically -
Orphaned files might remain on your iOS device if it's physically disconnected while syncing music, podcasts, videos, or photos. This can prevent iTunes from syncing the iOS device on subsequent sync sessions. When this happens, you might see a large amount of "Other" disk usage for the iOS device in the Capacity indicator in iTunes. Try these steps:
Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes. If you see the "Not enough free space" alert, continue to step 5.
Turn off the automatic syncing functions for the iOS device:
Select the iOS device from the iTunes window and click the Summary tab.
Deselect "Automatically sync when this device is connected" and select the "Sync only checked songs and videos" checkbox.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Reduce the amount of data that is being synced to the device and resync the device. For example, if syncing your Music library exceeds the memory capacity of the device, choose "Selected playlists" to transfer rather than "All songs and playlists" under the Music tab in iTunes. If you see the "Not enough free space" alert, continue to step 6.
    Restore using iTunes.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

  • How do I delete podcasts from the cloud?

I have a number of podcasts that I subscribe to.  With my upgrade to the newest version of iTunes (11.1), it now wants to list everything in the cloud and I when I try to delete individual podcasts, the listing remains within iTunes with the "download from the cloud" icon visible.  Obviously, I have listened to this content and don't care for it to be in my library anymore, but there doesn't seem to be any way to remove these listings.  What I've ended up with is a ton of podcast episodes that I've already listened to and don't want anymore clogging my playlist.  Anyone have any idea of how I get rid of these things?  I've even turned iTunes Match off in an effort to get rid of them, but nothing.  The iTunes cloud thing is worthless to me.  Stuff like this is super annoying.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Agree, this is really a bad thing. Podcast RSS feeds should generally only have a limited number (10s) of recent episodes to make the update check efficient. But many producers of podcast feeds include their entire archive of episodes going back years. I am speculating that they do this because iTunes is often the only way to interact with the user because iTunes doesn't support a link through to the originating site the way it used to.
I also got caught by the the new preference "Sync podcast subscriptions and settings". I don't remember turning it on and my wife complained that all my podcasts were appearing on her iPhone (we share an apple id). I deleted them from her iPhone only to find out they were gone from iTunes on my desktop. Thank goodness for Time Machine, but I had to disconnect the computer from the internet long enough to disable the sync until I could turn off that setting. Otherwise it immediately deleted the podcasts from my restored iTunes.
This is the kind of random side effects of using poorly designed cloud services that try to avoid. Apple should have at least provided a first time popup to warn me it was synching with the cloud and was about to delete most of my subscriptions.

  • How do I delete uninstalled Apps from the iPhone app list that is shown inside iTunes on my PC after sychronizaton?

To clarify and to not receive the answers of those who doesn't read more than 2 lines of a post: I am not asking how can I delete backups to free space in iCloud nor how to hide the purchase history!!! those things I already know...
to be clearer please let me explain what I mean by "list inside the iTunes of my PC". To access the list to which I am reffering you must take this steps:
    1) Connect the iPhone to the PC. This should open iTunes if not already opened and activate the synchronization between iPhone and PC.
    2) After syncronization and eventual backup in the iTunes window on the top right side it appears the tab "iPhone".
    3) Click said tab "iPhone" to see its content. In the top bar you can see 9 tabs: "Summary", "Info", "Apps", "Music", "Movies", "TV Shows", "Books", "Photos" and "On This iPhone".
    4) Click the 3rd tab, the one named "Apps", in this window on the left side you have the full list of the apps and on the right side you can see how these apps are arranged inside the device (inside home screens and folders).
I am referring to this particular list, the one on the left side of this page. See, I ricently run out of space in my iCloud so I decided tidy things up. I deleted all of the old backups both form iCloud and from PC and I hid all of the Apps that I no longer use from my purchase history.
now, the point is, every time I go to this particular list I can still find all of the apps, even those uninstalled from the device and removed from the purchase history...
In this list the apps that are still installed on my divece have got the "remove" button at its side and those which are not have got the "install" button... my point is that I went to great lengths to clean everything and still I can't seem to find a way to remove unwanted apps from this particular list...
I do suspect that it is because I have to restore some registry inside the iPhone itself... The point is that I don't want these apps to appear on this list anymore but I don't know how to clear it... Any help? Have I been clear?
    thanks

That list includes all the apps that you installed to your device directly from iTunes on the computer, or which were purchased on the iOS device and subsequently transferred to iTunes on the computer.
If you right click on any item in that list and choose "Show in Windows Explorer" it will open your iTunes application installer directory on your computer, which should be:
    C:\Users\User\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Mobile Applications
In there are all your saved application installers (*.ipa files).  You need to delete those actual installer bundles and then make sure to NOT allow the "transfer purchased content" when you sync or backup in iTunes (as that will just put them back on your hard drive).
One caveat to removing those, is that if you ever wish to keep a specific release of a particular app, and the developer replaces the iTunes/App store version with something else, your sole source for your older version will be your own stored copy of it.  So for example, when PDF expert released their iOS 7 update, and charged everyone full price for it, if you wished to keep using the previous version on your own devices, then you needed to keep a copy of the installer on your own computer as that older version is no longer available in the store front.

  • How do I delete stored email addresses in my iphone? When sending photos, I don't want to have certain email addresses  "popping up" from the internal memory, I've deleted my entire "Contact" list but they still appear.  Help please!

How do I delete stored email addresses in my iphone? When sending photos, I don't want to have certain email addresses  "popping up" from the internal memory, I've deleted my entire "Contact" list but they still appear.  Help please!

As with the Mail app on a Mac, the iPhone's Mail app stores all email recipients in a list of previous recipients which is separate from the address book or contacts. The email address autofill feature when addressing an message pulls from Contacts and from the list of previous recipients.
Different from the Mail app on a Mac, there is no access to the list of previous recipients with iOS on an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad to remove a previous recipient from the list, or to add a previous recipient to the address book or contacts that is not already entered - not at the present time anyway.
The only way to purge the list of previous recipients at the present time is by restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, which will start being re-populated again with every sent message.

Ive deleted contacts from my contacts list but they still pop up when i go to text and type in the name of a current contact. .  How can i delete them off my phones memory for good? iPhone 4S

At the present time, the only way to clear that is to restore the phone as new.  Perhaps a future iOS update will give us the option to clear that cache.

  • How to delete file names from Adobe Reader list

How can I delete file names from the Adobe Reader list?  I have deleted the file & it's empty, but deleted file names remain in my list & it's very annoying.  I can't seem to find an option anywhere to delete the file names.

Thanks for the answer, I will try this & post my results with this method.  I have set the amount to zero, & it seems if I want to put back valid files into my list I first need to find them in another file in my pc, such as documents, open them in Adobe Reader, & then then they will reappear in the Adobe Reader list.  Is this correct?  Thank you!
This seems to be the case, you need to restore each file you want in your list one by one by accessing them elsewhere on your pc, & then you must open them with Adobe Reader to have files reappear in your Adobe Reader list.  However, this seems to be a tedious process if you only want to delete one obsolete file from your list by first emptying the list & rebuilding it file by file.  It works, but I'm wondering if there is a more sensible & efficient way to do this?
