Hello, everyone! I need some help, okay so, my iPhone has been acting up lately, I am no longer receiving iMessages, it says it cannot connect to iTunes and YouTube, and I no longer receive push notifications from any of my apps. i figured it is because i need to update the iOS5 for my phone, but I'm not sure. General advice on "slimming" down your device's storage:
You'd have to go into the various apps on a device that is also stored on iCloud and begin trimming files.
Backups:
Go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backups>Manage Storage; there, tap the device you need info on and the resulting screen lists Backup Options with which apps store data on iCloud. Turn off camera roll and any other apps that might have a lot of data. Then delete the backup. That will free up space. Photos should be regularly synced to a computer (like you store photos from a digital camera) using either USB via iTunes (on a mac use iPhoto or Aperture to move them to an album) or using photo stream. If you mean they are in your purchased list in iCloud, this can't be deleted. The iTunes and App stores keep a record of all your purchases. Downloading it from the cloud is downloading it from the App store.
Your most likely problem is that your iOS is too old to run the App, unless you can update your iOS there is little you can do about this.

Recently i replaced my damaged iPhone with a new one. I could restore the contents to new phone. But now I am not able to update the iCloud from my new phone as it says that "Not enough space". This leads to the question - how do i remove all the contents in my iCloud account?

You can delete contents in your iCloud storage from your device using settings > iCloud > storage & backup > manage storage. Swipe the individual content to the left to reveal the delete button.

You can't delete them from iCloud because they aren't stored in your iCloud account (and don't use any of your storage). They are stored in the iTunes store, and the cloud symbols are links to your previous purchases. If you don't want to see them, hide them on the purchased list in iTunes on your computer, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919.

Photo stream photos don't use your storage so deleting them won't help. Only camera roll photos are in your iCloud account, and they are included (by default) in your iCloud backup.
