How do I delete thousands of empty Links folders in Safari 6 bookmarks?

I believe these may have accrued sometime related to the old Mobile Me, though not sure.  Deleting these one by one takes about 15 seconds each.  My slider bar is about a half inch high so I'm sure I have thousands of these sitting at the bottom of my "real" bookmarks -- beginning under the BooksmarksMenu entry.
I would be happy to delete ALL my bookmarks and start over if anyone has an idea how to do that...
Thanks,
Mike

That works for contiguous bookmarks "within a folder".  I'm talking about thousands of EMPTY FOLDERS.  I've tried a variety of key combinations.
Is there a way to just clear the whole thing and start over?
Thanks

How do I delete thousands of emails on IPad3, without doing them one at a time?

Hi, You can easily delete multiple email messages from the iPad by using the Mail's edit feature. The button on the top right side of the inbox is the edit button. Touching this button will put your inbox into edit mode.
Once your inbox is in edit mode, you can select multiple messages by touching each message you want to delete. You then have the option to either delete them by pressing the delete button at the bottom of the screen or moving them to a specific folder by touching the move button.

  • How to remove overs thousands of dummy links... especially they are sync-ed to icloud already...

I was using Safari on iMac, and not sure when and how my browser generate lots of dummy links as bookmarks, over thousands dumy links/bookmarks.
the worse is they are sync-ed to icloud already. so all my iOS devices also have very bad performance on Safari.
Please let me know how to quickly remove the dummy links or all links from icloud firstly so I believe all my OS and iOS Safari will auto-remove the dummy links/bookmarks in parallel.
    many thanks.

    Hi bha,
I'm sorry to hear about the issues you are having with Safari. Based on your description, it may be easiest to remove them from Safari on your Mac. I'm unclear exactly which version of Safari you are using, but most should have a similar option to that described below:
Remove a bookmark: Command (⌘)-click bookmarks in the sidebar to select them, then press Delete. Or, press and hold the bookmark’s name until it’s highlighted, then click the Remove button  to the right of the name.
    Safari 8 (Yosemite): Use bookmarks
(Note: You can also hold down the Shift key and click on the first and last item, and it should select everything in between)

  • How can i copy text from web link title in safari

Hi. How can i copy text to clipboard from web link title in safari in ios 7? Thank you
    Like this:
    http://photouploads.com/images/01wkw.jpg

Once you have selected text, there will be blue circular buttons on the corners. Get the ones on the end and move them in towards the text that you want to copy. The problem that you seem to be facing where you are is that this text is a hyperlink. Because of that reason, you will have a difficult time tapping on the text without activating the link. I'm not sure you will be able to do that.

  • Can I link folders in the Bookmarks Menu and the Bookmarks Toolbar so that an addition or deletion from one will show up in the other?

It seems as if these two lists - the Toolbar list and the Menu list - operate independently. Is that correct? I'm using Windows 7.

Immediately backup your whole Firefox profile.
    * [[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]]
You will have over written your bookmarks database and it may be difficult to recover. You may at least have backups of bookmarks that are still usable but that is why you must back up the profile.
Create a new additional test profile using the profile manager. Next test the bookmarks from your backup restoring them into Firefox whilst open with and using the new test profile. If one of those backups works you should be able to restore that into your ordinary Firefox profile.
You may need to delete the database places.sqlite to get working bookmarks. But rename it rather than delete it as it is then easier to reverse. Note if you do need to delete the places database you will lose your Firefox History.
There is an alternative strategy but again ensue the profile is backedup. And in this case also backup separately places.sqlite before any recovery attempt.
The Windows OS should try to keep previous copies of Files and it is possible that you will have a usable previous copy of ''places.sqlite'' that may be recovered by options available from right clicking the current version.

  • With the Yahoo Firefox version -- 16.0.2 -- how do I delete a folder, empty or with items in it?

I'm able to delete book mark items within a folder, but unable to delete an entire folder with items in it, or an empty folder. It appears that this version is too recent for any of the previous help items to be of any assistance.
My Mac Desktop operating system is 10.7.5. The Firefox version (for Yahoo) is 16.0.2. If the JAVA info is important, I do not appear to have JAVA. I gather Apple stopped loading it around the time I got my desktop.

On a Mac you probably need to do this in the right pane in the Bookmarks and History Manager (Library)
    *Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks
You can't remove any of the three main bookmarks folders (Bookmarks Toolbar, Bookmarks Menu, Unsorted), but you should be able to remove any folders that you've created yourself via the right-click context menu in the right pane in the Bookmarks Manager (Library).

  • How do I delete memorized sites from address bar in Safari?

    Hello,
I already read a lot of similar questions but didn't really find an answer. And I'm sorry if something is not well written as english is not my first language.
I'm trying to completely clear my address bar in safari, which still shows the same suggested sites everytime I write the first words of them. (For example, if I write "y", it shows me a couple of specific youtube links)
I tried deleting history and datas from safari settings, removing everything from the autocomplete menu, I deleted all my favorites and I also tried that turn off- turn on option. But they still appear everytime I start writing on safari.
I think they're somewhere memorizad on my ipad but I really didn't know it. Do u have any ideas about that?
    Thank you!

You said you have done Settings > Safari > Clear Histoy.  You might try that again.
Also try Settings > Safari > Clear cookies and data.

  • How to fix/delete ? ? marks when folders opened? (see image).

These ? marks are now present on all folders.
This seems to be a feature of 10.7 Lion as I have never seen it before with Leopard on my MacBook and have just recently upgraded.
On clicking the ?mark, sometimes a filename (of a jpeg) is shown briefly below. Perhaps the ?mark indicates finder is searching for a file and been unable to find it (though spotlight can).    File may be a renamed/moved file perhaps. May involve previously using photoshop elements.
Baffled! Please educate me about these ? marks. Please help me to get rid of them!
    Thanks    Tim.

The system has lost track of what was there. Could be because the original item was deleted and the link in the toolbar no longer points to anything.
Hold down the command key and drag them out of the toolbar.
If it was something you wanted there, replace it with the original by dragging it into the toolbar.  There's nothing there in the default toolbar.

  • How Do I Delete Hidden Files in Compressed Folders?

I'm working on a mac and sometimes I compress files and send them to be opened on a PC. Is there anyway to delete the hidden files that mac adds to a zip file before sending it, or disable their creation completely? I'm thinking about getting a mac at home, but this could be one of the deal breakers.
    Kevin

There are ways to make hidden files visible in the finder, but here I don't think that will help - the files you are seeing are CREATED by the finder, and you are presumably using the finder to make your zip files. So if you make these files visible and try to delete them using the finder before creating your archive they will probably just be re-created. You can delete any file manually in terminal, but I doubt you could do it within an archive.
Another solution would be to use a stand-alone application to create the zip files instead of the finder. Browsing VersionTracker I came upon "YemuZip", freeware at
    http://www.yellowmug.com/yemuzip/
Again I haven't tried it, but it claims to be able to exclude the Mac-specific files that show up on PCs.
Some of these freeware utilities are very handy - at least worth a look.

  • How do I remove "Bookmark Bar" folders in Safari Bookmarks?

My Bookmarks sync fine between my iPhone and iPad, except that iCloud keeps creating "Bookmark Bar" folders. They are driving me crazy because I cannot delete OR move them out of the way.
There are now SIX unused (empty) "Bookmark Bar" folders making it rediculously cumbersome when I try to scroll down to my actual Bookmarks.
PLEASE, oh PLEASE HELP! How can I remove all those "Bookmark Bar" folders?
I am on iPad2 and iPhone4 with the latest iOS. I tried turning iCloud "Sync Bookmarks" off, rebooting both devices, and turning Sync back on. That seems to be when iCloud wants to add even more empty "Bookmark Bar" folders.
    - Cody

Ok, so...ARGH!!! The solution was SO SIMPLE that I can't believe it took me this long to figure it out.
Long story short: I was able to delete the "Bookmarks Bar" folders (15 in all!) from my PC (Win7). AND, the process did NOT delete all my existing iDevice Bookmarks (YAY!).
So, in case anyone else stumbles upon this thread with the same issue:
    Open iCloud on your PC
Turn on option to sync bookmarks with IE
('yes' to merge bookmarks- This step does not delete your existing bookmarks on your iDevices)
Make sure your iDevices are set to sync bookmarks in iCloud.
Next, open your "Favorites" in IE on your PC and right-click/delete all "Bookmarks Bar" folders.
Voila! Done! No more Bookmarks BarS...although there will be ONE that will not go away. One is better than 15:)

  • How to clear the clipboard and empty drawings ?

Similar question has been in the Sketch Forum for half a year already, with no satisfying answer...
My clipboard is becoming an extremely messy merry-go-round. Isn't there even some kind of hack ?
And how can I delete cleared or empty drawings from a project (so not the whole project itself) ?
I can't copy or move drawings from one drawing to another, without turning it into a 'flat' image.

There is no way to clear the clipboard. It just has a fixed set of clippings that get recycled through. In addition to the merry-go-round view, there is also a grid view (tap the grid icon in the top left), which can be more convenient to look at if you have a lot of clippings. You can also choose to view just your "favorited" clippings instead of all your clippings (tap the star icon in the top right).
As for deleting drawings from a project, tap the edit button on a project (pencil icon in the top right of the project header), and tap the drawings you want to delete. Once some drawings are selected, tap the trash icon to delete those drawings. Be aware that this action is not undoable once you choose OK in the confirmation alert dialog.
Unfortunately, copying and moving drawings from one project to another is not supported. However, that and other organizer enhancements are on our roadmap.
    Hope that helps,
    Frank

  • How do I delete more than 1 bookmark at a time

I have a gazillion bookmarks, how can I delete more than 1 at a time?

    '''Bookmarks sidebar -- Multiple selection:'''
To select the first item in the bookmarks sidebar without invoking it, you must click to the '''left''' of the favicon (and to the left of the expand indicator in the case of folders). To add another item again select in the same manner but with Ctrl+click.
To extend a selection from the last selected item hold the Shift key and you can click anywhere on the item's row to extent to there,
'''Library List (both Bookmarks and History)'''
Since it take a double click to invoke the bookmark or history page, it doesn't matter where you click on the line item it only selects it.
'''If that fails''', which you seem to have indicated that it does...
:then it would seem that you have installed some extension to make it so that you do not have to double-click in the library list. What extensions do you have with "Bookmark" and/or "click" in their name?
Would you try the above instructions while in "[http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode Safe Mode]".
In current versions of Firefox, Thunderbird, and SeaMonkey 2, you can restart in Safe Mode via "Help ("Alt+H") -> Restart with Add-ons disabled...". A Safe Mode options window will appear when they restart.
Do not make any changes to the options, just click the "Continue in Safe Mode" button. Clicking on anything else would cause permanent changes (damage).
In Safe mode your extensions are temporarily disabled and will be active again on the next restart.
