How do I delete "yandex" from Firefox tool bar?

"yandex" appears when I try to open Firefox. I don't know where it came from and it will not allow me to go to the normal Mozilla home page.

    Usually, you would choose under bookmarks on the menu bar, bookmark manager (Chrome) or show all bookmarks (Safari), or the like (depending on your browser), and then edit it there.

  • How can I delete SearchCanvas from Firefox?

    From what I've found on the Internet, SearchCanvas came along with a download of Blingee. When I deleted it everything was deleted except SearchCanvas. I have tried everything that was suggested on the Internet and nothing works. I found a file by doing a search and deleted it from my computer but SearchCanvas is still on my netbook. Even though Firefox is my default search engine I still get SearchCanvas when I open a new tab to do a new search.

  • Can't delete tabs from Firefox on my iPhone

    How can I delete tabs from Firefox on my iPhone? I'm using Firefox Sync and the number of tabs keep getting bigger. I'm up to 48.
    PS: I've tried the iPhone forum but no one replies. It's looking like there is no support for Sync??????

    Good morning,
    Sorry, ContactsTap does not solve the problem. It doesn't know about the "All on my iPhone" Group. Inside the app the contacts show as uncategorized.
    The problem is that if a contact is saved as "All on my iPhone" how can I move it to another of the native iPhone groups so that it syncs with the other group source.
    It is possible to link the contact with other contacts on other groups but I cannot move it to another group. It seems you have to retype the contacts.
    Someone forgot to include this feature. May be next iOs update?
    Best regards

  • When deleting bookmarks from Firefox, why does the program respond differently on similar installs to different computers all running OS X?

    On the subject of bookmarks...
    The following procedure works for deleting bookmarks on my MacBook Pro, my iMac, and my Mac mini...
    If the bookmark is itself a tab on the toolbar, right click on it and select delete by highlighting delete in the drop down menu that appears.
    The following procedure works for deleting bookmarks on my MacBook Pro, but not my iMac or Mac mini...
    If the toolbar tab is actually a folder containing bookmarks and possibly more folders, left click on the toolbar tab to open a drop down menu of other bookmarks/folders, highlight the one you want to delete, then right click on it and select delete by highlighting delete in the drop down menu.
    On the iMac and Mac mini, right clicking on an item in the drop down menu of bookmarks/folders has no effect. It does not produce the additional drop down menu at all.
    I can find no place to adjust this as a setting in preferences or anywhere else. Can you tell me why I am seeing a different response from the Firefox program on my MacBook Pro than I get from my other Macs?
    All Macs are configured similarly and running OS X 10.6.5. All have Firefox 3.6.13 installed.
    I realize there are many other ways to delete bookmarks from Firefox. My question is not about how to delete bookmarks, but rather why am I seeing the differing behavior from Firefox in other installs. It may well prove to be an issue within OS X rather than Firefox.

    In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes" then try to disable this feature.
    *Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [ ] "Clear history when Firefox closes"
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Clear+Recent+History
    Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
    If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem

  • I imported my favorites from Internet Explorer but I need to know how to display my "favorites" in the tool bar so I can access and organize them

    I imported my favorites from Internet Explorer, but how do I display "favorites" in the tool bar so I can access and organize them?

    It did merge them after a fashion, glad I took a backup first even if I did only perhaps create 3 or 4 bookmarks today. So if I have bookmark separators, it's going to figure out which group to put them in (no way). Anyway I thought they would just go down to the bottom of the bookmarks menu like the other method, like when I export and import bookmarks in Firefox where they do go to the end of the Bookmarks Menu folder and would simply delete one folder.
    Anyway this would not be typical because I don't want any bookmarks from IE.

    What kind of problems did you get after installing the extension?
    You can try to remove the history manually in the History Manager by doing a search for a colon.
    How many history items do you have to remove?
    If you only want to do this once or occasionally then you can consider to use this code:
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/User:Dickvl/JavaScript_Error_Console#Expire_History_By_Days
    You will have to calculate the number of days that you want to keep to remove only history items from 2013 and older (365+31+28+26)
    You can open the Browser Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer).
    Paste the JavaScript code in the command line and press the Enter key to run the code.
    *Toggle the devtools.chrome.enabled pref on the <b>about:config</b> page to true to enable the command line
    *https://developer.mozilla.org/Tools/Browser_Console#Browser_Console_command_line
    <pre><nowiki>
    (function(){
    /* expire history by days, based upon bug 660646 comment 5/7 - [email protected] */
    var Cc = Components.classes, Ci = Components.interfaces;
    var his = Cc["@mozilla.org/browser/nav-history-service;1"].getService(Ci.nsIBrowserHistory);
    var prs = Cc["@mozilla.org/embedcomp/prompt-service;1"].getService(Ci.nsIPromptService);
    var day = 0, obj = new Object, txt = "Expire History"; obj.value = "90";
    if (prs.prompt(null,txt,"Days of history to keep",obj,null,{})){
    day = parseInt(obj.value);
    if(!isNaN(day)&&(day>0)){
    his.removeVisitsByTimeframe(0,(new Date().setHours(0,0,0,0) - day * 86400000) * 1000);
    }else{ prs.alert(null,txt,"Error Parsing Days: "+obj.value); }

    Thank you for your understanding.

  • What is the "Other" category under storage and how can i delete items from this?

    My disc is almost full.  "About this Mac" says that I have 47 GB of "Other."  What is this Other and how can I delete items from this?

    For information about the Other category in the Storage display, see this support article.
    Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
    iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
    Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
    According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
    When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown asBackups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Reboot and it should go away.
    See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.
    You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
    Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
    Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
    ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
    If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
    Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
    Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
    The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size with the largest at the top. It may take a few minutes for ODS to finish scanning.
    I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
    When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • How to import book marks from Firefox

    How do you import bookmarks from Firefox?
    Thanks,
    Sam

    You may find as I did that you don't have to export anything from your existing browser(s).
    Go into Safari and click on the 'book' icon on the toolbar below your navigation bar.
    This will bring up the Bookmark page below. Scan through the list of the left-hand side of the screen.
    What I saw was that there were 2 folders included already (without exporting anything); one for imported IE bookmarks, and another for Imported Firefox bookmarks. I then selected all of the links inside my Firefox folder and dragged them into the Bookmarks Menu folder and that was all I needed to do. I didn't want my IE bookmarks, so I deleted that folder along with my now empty Firefox bookmarks folder.
    You may have similar luck if you check here first. You can always manually export/import later if you wish.
