How do I deselect multiple pictures in Iphoto?

Hi, I have a lot of photos and videos on my computer and have been burning them onto DVD.  I still have a lot more to go and try to fit as many as possible on each DVD.  To select the photos I want to burn, I take a wild guess as to how many may fit, then see if there is still space on the DVD.  If I select too few, I can easily select a bunch more at a time.  But if I select too many, it doesn't seem possible to deselect, let's say, 40 or 50 at a time.  Instead I have to do it one by one, which is doable but can take a while.  Is there any shortcut through which I can deselect not all, but only, let's say, the last 50 of 700 or so?  I'm using an older version of Iphoto, 7.1.5.
Thanks for any suggestions!

Hmmm, so I tried different things and still, I can't seem to find a way to deselect more than one picture at a time (except deselecting them all.)  So, let's say I have a hundred pictures and want to deselect the last 20 all at once.  If I press command and click, it deselects one.  If I press shift and click on a selected picture, nothing happens at all.  If I press shift and command together and click on a selected picture, nothing happens.  If I deselect one in the middle and one on the bottom, then try to click somewhere in the middle of the two deselected pictures, holding either shift or command, nothing happens, except a single picture is deselcetd if I press command, but not more than one.
I've got an older version of I-life (2008), maybe it's just a problem there.  I pressed on "help", it explained how to select/deselect, but there was nothing mentioned on how to deselect more than one, so maybe it's not possible for this version?

  • How do I sync multiple picture folders to my iPod ?

How do I sync multiple picture folders to my iPod touch ? I don't want to create another folder and then copy the desired folders to be synced, into this main folder. All of my pictures are about the size of 5-10 MB. Copying them would mean loss of additional space.

You can only point iTunes at one folder for syncing to the iPod. You can however selectively choose which subfolders of the main folder are included. I use a Photos folder inside iTunes\iTunes Media and move the folders that I want on my device into that, but the parent folder could be anywhere that suits you.

  • How do I select multiple pictures in a folder

How do I select multiple pictures in a folder? I have tried shift + click, command + click etc but cannot find a way of selecting a large group without selecting individually

Select the first image.  Then Command-Click on each additional image you want to select as part of a group.
If you are using List mode, you can click on the first, then Shift-Click on the last, and all the files between the first and the last will also be selected.
Command-Click will still work to add additional non-sequential, or to remove items from the list already selected.

  • How can I make multiple pictures slowly fade to white in FCP X ?

I am new to FCP X and I'm creating a picture slideshow.  How can I make multiple pictures slowly fade to white in FCP X ?
For example, I would like to have 10 pictures all play in 5 seconds, and starting off with the 1st one being little light; 2nd lighter; 3rd lightter; etc., to 10th being completly white screen...
    Can anyone help ?

Here is what I would do. Add a 5 second white generator solid to your storyline. Add your 10 half second clips as attached clips. Select them all, right click and make a compound clip. Then keyframe the compound clips opacity from 100% t0 0% with one keyframe at the beginning and one at the end. That will give you a linear reduction in opacity over the 5 seconds(10 pics). You can play with the keyframes to get the effect you want if linear isn't doing it.

  • How do I move my pictures from iphoto on my mac book to iphoto on my new Desktop?

I am not sure what how to transfer all my pictures from iphoto on my old mac book to my new desktop computer. Any help would be appreicated.

To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
    Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.

I agree, it seems to just be limited to children of Library.
I'm going to use your 'build command' to deselect all Library items. That way, the novice computer user will get visual feedback that Library items won't be processed.

Thanks Bernard for your help. I just changed "contains" to "is" because in my tests I had "untitled album", "untitled album 1" etc. Then, because of the first "untitled album", all iterations were re-selected (not desirable).
