How do I design for large, oversize event banners?

I am trying to design numerous event banners: 20 ft x 8 ft, 16 ft x 10 ft, 6 ft x 4 ft, etc. What is the best way to go about this? How do I format/save my document, and what kind of files will I hand off? PSBs or JPGS? I'm new to this. Thanks!!

Probably the best way to prep the files is scaled down version of the final size at 25%.  So, your Photoshop files can be 300ppi and output at 72ppi.  More than likely, a billboard print company or grand format inkjet printer will be used for final print.  I'd use Illustrator for file prep, Place the images in a scaled version of the final size in Illustrator and Photoshop.  You should be able to work with .tiff files in CMYK color space.

  • How to disable registration for a past event

    Hello community,
    Please help.
    I know I've seen something written or a tutorial on how to make past events disabled for registration in the events module, but now I can't find them to save my life. It seems obvious that this should be the default situation (what business in the world wants to allow users to register for a past event?), but I'm willing to make mods until Adobe figures this out.
    Please tell me this is possible. And PLEASE let it not be a massive hassle! My client has daily events (basically daily admission) and creating each day separately is already a hassle after I sold them on BC functionality. For them to have to delete each event daily so that (their often elderly) personage won't get the day wrong and purchase for a past date is something I don't want to tell them they have to do.
    I'm using a modified web form with payment to allow multiple registrations.
    Thank you in advance!

    Your sister needs to disable iMessage on her iPhone if the iPhone is still available if she hasn't already done so.
    If she has, does she have iMessage enabled with the same Apple ID on another iOS device or on a Mac as was used to activate iMessage on her iPhone?

  • How to Scale SDDM for Large Designs

    We have an Oracle Designer repository with 5 databases with about 20 schemas that need to interact. Three of the databases are COTs systems while two are for custom development. On importing to SDDM we have almost 7000 objects and it takes forever to save the design. SDDM does not scale very well. If I add one column to one table I have to save the ENTIRE design. I hate to think about what that will mean when it comes time to synch with subversion. Does it have to compare everything in the ENTIRE design to determine what has changed?
    Am I missing something? Is there a way to save just one table without saving the whole design? If not SDDM is only useful for small silo databases that don't need to interact. Can I have 20 schema based designs that can relate to other designs in the same database? For instance we have multiple application based schemes in a single database and they all refer to one reference schema with shared look up data in the same database.
    I wish we could stay on Designer but our sysadmins do not want to support legacy OS's defined as anything older than MS Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7. And Data Modeler has some really nice features but doesn't support our current design approach. We like to provide our developers with diagrams with all the tables they will be interacting with on all the databases.
    Any other users out there with large designs like this? How do you use SDDM?
    Marcus Bacon

    Phillip,
    Thanks for the reply.
    How do you count these 7000 objects?We have about 2500 entities and tables and no, not all on one diagram. This is the number that was imported from Designer. That is why I am struggling with SDDM because in Designer we divide and conquer. We have about 20 applications for our custom work and 3 COTS applications. We share/shortcut entities/tables needed from the COTs apps into our custom applications.
    You need 64 bit OSI have been lazy on this one since the 32 bit installs JVM for me. I have a 64 bit box with 16 GB of memory and dual quad core CPU's, 2 - 500 GB disk drives which are slow and not RAID. Guess I will uninstall again and install 64 bit before complaining again.
    Saving takes a long time and the last time I imported I received some errors yet the log page said 0. When I tried to save it, SDDM blew itself away. I would open a support request but right now I do not have support because the government people dropped it and we have been in the process of getting it back for several months. Any thoughts on the errors,
    In Data Modeler 3.2 tables from other models can be referred thus you can have 20 models (500 objects each) and you can select to load only one or two models you need to work on.I keep hearing rumors of 3.2 and I may try to wait until it is out before we migrate. I know, Oracle doesn't comment on release dates so I won't ask if it will be out in the next few months.
    There is a "save" at model level, but as I said you can use save at design level as well - only changed objects will be saved. How do you save at these different levels?
    What version of Data Modeler do you use?I am currently using SDDM 3.1.3.709.

  • How do I register for the timeout Event dynamically

    hello,
    I found this example:
    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361K-01/lvhowto/dynamic_modifying_reg/
    I want to do the same thing, except that it's not the mouse move event that I want to toggle (register/unregister) but the timeout event.
    The timeout is in the drop down list of events I can register for, but it is greyed out.
    How can I do this?
    thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Use a shift register to hold what your timeout should be.  Use -1 for never time out.  Wire the value in the shift register to the timeout input on the Event Structure.

  • Design for mirroring keytyped events for a shared editor

    Hi there,
    Can anyone suggest a layout for an algorithm which will allow a shared editor to handle keytyped events and have that mirrored in the listening client?
    So far the received packets get added to a JEditorPane by a setText() call, but this is useless as it overwrites anything in the JEditorPane.. As every KeyTyped event is fired the packet gets sent to another client that needs to append them to the JEditorPane. But I also need to consider the Caret position, deleted text, tab and space (everything under the sun that could happen when someone is editing text in the JEditorPane).
    Has anyone got any suggestions as to how to correctly tackle this problem..
    Thanks : -)
    Adrian

    It may be possible but I still wouldn't do it that way. Mainly because key events aren't sufficient to synchronize two documents. It's possible to change a document without a keyevent occurring -- for example if you press Ctrl-V on many computers, it will paste the contents of the clipboard into the document. I don't know if you get a key event in this case, but even if you do it doesn't tell you enough to synchronize the remote document properly.

  • How is the design for this complex requirement ?

    Hi All,
    I have Customer hierarchy as follow :
    CustomerCategory
    CustomerType
    CustomerGroup
    Customer
    Discount can be given to a CustomerCategory, or CustomerType, or a CustomerGroup, or a Customer , or to ALL Customer. Discount is defined in a Promotion Table
    Customer Table :
    CustomerCode
    CustomerName
    CustomerCategoryCode
    CustomerTypeCode
    CustomerGroupCode
    Order Table :
    OrderNo
    OrderDate
    CustomerCode
    OrderGross
    Discount
    Promotion Table :
    PromoNumber
    PromoType (ALL / CustomerCategory / CustomerGroup / CustomerType / Customer)
    PCode (ALL / 'xxxx' )
    Discount
    ** note :
    if PromoType = PCode = 'ALL', means the Discount is given to all customer.
    If PromoType = 'CustomerCategory' then PCode = Customer Category Code
    If PromoType = 'Customer' then PCode = Customer Code
    and so on...
    ** by doing this I avoid to define discount in four table.
    The question is :
    1) Is there any better way to define the promotion table
    2) If I do design the Promotion table like above, how is the efficient query to find the discount for an Order ??
    Thank you for your help,

  • How to Improve Design for HTML, Plain Text and Multiple Recipients?

    Hello there,
    JavaMail programming is so fun! I first start off mixing the JavaMail code inside a servlet and then refactored it to two separate classes.
    Mailer is the independent class which uses JNDI to look up config parameters, sends e-mails, and then closes the connection with the protocol.
    public class Mailer {
         private Session mailSession;
         protected void sendMsg(String email, String subject, String body)
         throws MessagingException, NamingException {
              Properties props = new Properties();
              InitialContext ictx = new InitialContext(props);
              Session mailSession = (Session) ictx.lookup("java:/Mail");
              String username = (String) props.get("mail.smtps.user");
              String password = (String) props.get("mail.smtps.password");
              MimeMessage message = new MimeMessage(mailSession);
              message.setSubject(subject);
              message.setRecipients(javax.mail.Message.RecipientType.TO,
                        javax.mail.internet.InternetAddress.parse(email, false));
              message.setText(body);
              message.saveChanges();
              Transport transport = mailSession.getTransport("smtps");
              try {
                   transport.connect(username, password);
                   transport.sendMessage(message, message.getAllRecipients());
                   Logger.getLogger(this.getClass()).warn("Message sent");
              finally {
                   transport.close();
    }MailController is just a simple Java servlet where a Mailer object is instantiated and a String is passed inside the Mailer.sendMsg() method.
    public class MailController extends HttpServlet {
         /** static final HTML setting for content type */
         private static final String HTML = "text/html";
         myapp/** static final HTML setting for content type */
         private static final String PLAIN = "text/plain";
         public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
         throws ServletException, IOException {
              doPost(request, response);
         public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
         throws ServletException, IOException {
              response.setContentType(PLAIN);
              PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
              String mailToken = TokenUtil.getEncryptedKey();
              String body = "Hello there, " + "\n\n"
                        + "Wanna play a game of golf?" + "\n\n"
                     + "Please confirm: https://localhost:8443/myapp/confirm?token="
                     + mailToken + "\n\n" + "-Golf USA";
              Mailer mailer = new Mailer();
              try {
                   mailer.sendMsg("[email protected]", "Golf Invitation!", body);
                   out.println("Message Sent");
              catch (MessagingException e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
              catch (NamingException e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
    }Have some design issues...
    If you can notice, I manually place the body of the e-mail (as a String) from inside the client (in this case, a Java Servlet). Also, I manually have to switch the content type inside the doPost().
    Question(s):
    (1) How can the Mailer class be set up, so it can send both HTML and plain text messages?
    (2) How can the Mailer class be structured to send e-mail to multiple recipients or one user?
    (3) Would both of these features / actions require writing two overloaded methods for sendMsg()?
    Would appreciate it if someone could help me...
    Happy programming,
    Michael

    Okay, I came up with this single method:
    Mailer.java:
    public class Mailer
         private Session mailSession;
         protected void sendMessage(String email, String recipient, String subject,
                   String plainText, String htmlText)
            throws MessagingException, NamingException
              Properties props = new Properties();
              InitialContext ictx = new InitialContext(props);
              Session mailSession = (Session) ictx.lookup("java:/Mail");
              String username = (String) props.get("mail.smtps.user");
              String password = (String) props.get("mail.smtps.password");
              MimeMessage message = new MimeMessage(mailSession);
              InternetAddress from = new InternetAddress(email);
              InternetAddress to = new InternetAddress(recipient);
              message.setSubject(subject);
              message.setFrom(from);
              message.addRecipient(Message.RecipientType.TO, to);
              Multipart multipart = new MimeMultipart();
              BodyPart messageBodyPart = new MimeBodyPart();
              messageBodyPart.setText(plainText);
              multipart.addBodyPart(messageBodyPart);
              messageBodyPart = new MimeBodyPart();
              messageBodyPart.setContent(htmlText, "text/html");
              multipart.addBodyPart(messageBodyPart);
              message.setContent(multipart);
              Transport transport = mailSession.getTransport("smtps");
              try {
                   transport.connect(username, password);
                   transport.sendMessage(message, message.getAllRecipients());
                   Logger.getLogger(this.getClass()).info("Message sent");
              catch (Throwable t) {
                   Logger.getLogger(this.getClass()).error("Unable to Send Message");
                   t.printStackTrace();
              finally {
                   transport.close();
    }Created a MailController class to instantiate and run the Mailer class.
    public class MailController extends HttpServlet {
         // doPost() method()
         public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
         throws ServletException, IOException {
              response.setContentType(PLAIN);
              PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
              String mailToken = TokenUtil.getEncryptedKey();
              String plainText = "Hello there, " + "\n\n"
                        + "I wanna invite you to a game of golf!" + "\n\n"
         + "Please confirm: https://localhost:8443/myapp/confirm?token="
                        + mailToken + "\n\n" + "-Golf USA";
              String htmlText = "<H1>Golfer Challenge!</H1>";
              Mailer mailer = new Mailer();
              try {
                   String from = "[email protected]";
                   String recipient = "[email protected]";
                   String subject = "Golf Challenge";
                   mailer.sendMessage(from, recipient, subject, plainText, htmlText);
                   Logger.getLogger(
                               this.getClass()).info("Message Sent to: " + recipient
                                                              + " from: " + email);
                   out.println("Message Sent to: " +
                                             recipient + "\n" + " from: " + email);
              catch (MessagingException e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
              catch (NamingException e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
    }Question(s):
    (1) How come the Multipart Alternative only supports HTML for the second part? Can I specify it to send HTML first and plainText second?
    (2) How would I send in multiple recipients? Would I have to pass in an array reference (surrounded by a for loop) inside sendMessage() as follows:
    mailer.sendMessage(from, myArray, subject, plainText, htmlText);
    Thank you for all of your help!

  • How to tune readXML for large XMLDocument

    If I have a large XMLDocument and want to use readXML, is there a way to have the bc4j objects saved to the db and not cached in memory as readXML is in progress.
    For a large document, too many bc4j objects are created and readXML becomes slower and slower.
    Thank you.

    Hi Daniel,
    I've got my laptop back home - i shall watch the memory parameters then. I am not a 'basis' admin, thus, happy enough that the system is running at all. Reading this forum seems like horror, what tons of problems people have installing and running it at all.
    hence, a few questions: what exactly do you mean by active? processes or applications in task manager?
    i assume that memory usage level is almost about 100%, but i shall have a look in 4 hours time.
    WOT is the PAGE FILE?
    (ok translation problem, set the page file (german-->auslagerungsdatei) to max. 3888)
    I am using the latest sdn download SAP NetWeaver 2004s SR2 (SP9) - not full Java edition - maybe the full  version is better as it is SP16?
    Anyway, this contains SAP MaxDB. How can I change the memory available for it? from mmc console? there i can view basic db parameters when putting the db "online".
    thanx once more,

  • How is the design for this complex requirement ? pls help..

    Hi All,
    We have a Discount scheme that can be given for all possible
    combination of all customer, area and product hierarchy (attached below).
    for example :
    Promotion No.001 =>for sales on : CustomerGroup 'A', Area 'B', and
    ProductBrand 'C' will get discount 2 %
    Promotion No.002 =>for sales on : AllCustomer, District 'D', and
    Product 'E' will get discount 2.5 %
    Promotion No.003 =>for sales on : CustomerType 'F', AllArea, and
    ProductGroup 'G' will get discount 3 %
    ... and any possible combination.
    And it is possible for an Order / Invoice to get discount from two or
    more different promotion.
    e.g: Order 001, get 2 % from Promotion No.001 and 3 % from Promotion
    No.003, so totally it gets 5% discount.
    (1) Customer Hierarchy
    AllCustomer
    CustomerGroup
    CustomerType
    Customer
    (2) Area Hierarchy
    AllArea
    Region
    District
    Area
    (3) Product Hierarchy
    AllProduct
    ProductGroup
    ProductBrand
    Product
    Our Orders Data has following attributes :
    OrderNo.
    Customer
    Area
    Product
    Gross
    Discount
    Additional info :
    - Oracle version : 10g
    - If multiple discounts are applied, e.g: two discount, 10% each, then
    the total discount is 20%, if gross = 100, then netto is 100 * 80% =
    80.
    The design that comes to my mind is like below, please give me
    correcttion and recommendation :
    The Promotions is defined in master-detail :
    - one master table
    - three detail tables (one for each possible hierarchy)
    - one additional Tabel to store detail of discount an Order get,
    because it can get 2 or more discount.
    PromoHeader :
    - PromoNumber
    - Description
    - StartDate
    PromoDetail1 :
    - PromoNumber
    - PType (ALL / CustomerGroup / CustomerType / Customer)
    - PCode (ALL / 'xxxx' )
    ( note : 'xxxx' can be Customer Group Code, Customer Type Code or
    Customer Code )
    PromoDetail2 :
    - PromoNumber
    - PType (ALL / Region / District / Area)
    - PCode (ALL / 'xxxx' )
    ( note : 'xxxx' can be Region Code, District Code or Area Code )
    PromoDetail3 :
    - PromoNumber
    - PType (ALL / ProductGroup / ProductBrand / Product)
    - PCode (ALL / 'xxxx' )
    ( note : 'xxxx' can be ProductGroup Code, ProductBrand Code, Product
    Code )
    PromoByOrder
    - OrderNumber
    - PromoNumber
    - PType
    - PCode
    - Discount (%)
    (if an Order get two discount, there will be two records on this table
    for thet order)
    The question is :
    1) is this a 'good enough' design ?
    2) if I do go with this design, how is the efficient query / plsql to
    calculate the discounts for an Order.
    Pls help..
    Thank you very much,

    If your wife is tracking your cell phone and not believing what you tell her, you may want to consider counseling as there are some very serious issues that go way beyond the technology.
    Best of luck.

    one quite nice approach is described in the AskTom thread: http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0::::P11_QUESTION_ID:2345591157689#2356959585102
    In a nutshell: You can create a partitioned table with the same layout (using e.g. a RANGE partitioning with a single default partition), insert the remaining data into that table and swap the two segments using ALTER TABLE EXCHANGE PARTITION.
    This allows you to load the data into the partitioned table using all means available to you, e.g. direct-path parallel insert with nologging attribute of the table to make it as fast as possible, rebuilding/creating any indexes in bulk after the load completed.
    Furthermore, at least seamless read-access to the table is possible while you're performing this operation, and you don't have to deal with renaming/granting etc. which you would need to do with a traditional CTAS approach.
    Of course, if the table needs to be online for DML while performing the DELETE you can't use these options.

  • How to filter Outlook for Mac calendar events by category using AppleScript

    Hi all --
    I'm trying to write an Applescript on OSX to filter Outlook for Mac 2011 calendar events based on event categories, e.g. find all events tagged as "Conference". For example, I have a calendar event named "WWDC" that is found by the following script:
    tell application "Microsoft Outlook"
      set theCategoryConference to first category whose name is "Conference"
      set theConferenceList to every calendar event whose (subject is "WWDC")
      display dialog "There were " & (count of theConferenceList) & " Conferences."
      set theEvent to item 1 of items of theConferenceList
      display dialog "Categories contains conference: " & (categories of theEvent contains {theCategoryConference})
    end tell
    The above finds 1 event, and the final line displays "true" as this event has been tagged with the Conference category.
    However what I really want to do is find all such events. The following fails to match any events:
    set theConferenceList to every calendar event whose categories contains {theCategoryConference}
    ThIs seems to me like it should work, but returns 0 matching events. Is there a different syntax to use, or is this a limitation of Outlook for Mac that perhaps doesn't allow filtering events based on a nested collection (the categories attribute on calendar event objects)?
    Thanks!
    Ramon

    Hello
    I don't have Outlook 2011 but only guess here.
    Generally speaking, AppleScript's "whose" filter is very limited and does not support list containment test. So perhaps you'd have to resort to something like the following script, which actually scans the events for test.
    tell application "Microsoft Outlook"
        my events_with_categories({category "Conference"})
    end tell
    on events_with_categories(cats)
            list cats : list of categories to be matched
            return list : list of calendar events whose categories contain every item of cats
        script o
            property ee : {}
            property cc : {}
            tell application "Microsoft Outlook"
                set ee to calendar events
                repeat with e in my ee
                    set e to e's contents
                    set cc to e's categories
                    set _match to true
                    repeat with c in cats
                        set c to c's contents
                        if c is not in my cc then
                            set _match to false
                            exit repeat
                        end if
                    end repeat
                    if _match then set end of my ee to e
                end repeat
                return my ee's contents
            end tell
        end script
        tell o to run
    end events_with_categories
    Notes.
    * Script is not tested.
    * IF this works but is too slow, we may try to speed it up by retrieving categories of events (list of lists) in one statement, by which we can dramatically reduce the total number of Apple Events to send.
    Good luck,
    H

  • How to search disk for large files/folders?

    Is there a function on OS X (or a tool) that shows me which folders and files take up how many disk space?
    (After couple of weeks on my iMac, I already somehow occupy 50 Gb on my drive)
    Wouter

    You can also choose View->as List, the select View->Show View Options, in the dialog box make sure the Size option is checked, and the box to Calculate All Sizes. Now click on the Size column header in your window. Everything will be arranged by size. Click on the disclosure triangle in front of a folder to open it and see its contents, also showing size and arranged by size.
    The advantage of this is that it is quick and easy. Unfortunately it will miss some invisible items, so if your disk space is vanishing because of invisible temp files or log files you won't see them. Whatsize can help with this, but isn't full-proof, it too can miss some things. The Terminal can be used to find everything if that turns out to be necessary.

  • Adobe plugin For Mouse Click Event Handler

    Hi All, How to write plugin For Mouse Click Event Handler? Please reply quickly..
    Thanks in Advance

    AS has already been replied to you on the other threads.
    THE ACROBAT SDK has all the information you need to implement your solution. If you investigate the SDK and find a specific part of implementing your solution that is causing a problem. Then post that specific problem on the forum so that Leonard/PDL/ Aandi/Everyone else, can help you with specific problems.
    This question is too open ended for it to be easily answered with out doing a lot of work.
    Please download the SDK.
    Investigate the Documentation/Samples.
    Start developing your plug-in. ( I would recommend the Acrobat-plug-in wizard)
    And if you hit a specific problem we will be happy to try and help.
    Please note MULTIPLE POSTS just annoy.

  • Designing for Epub/mobi

    I am not an indesign user, but a developer trying to find information on how to best design for multiple formats. We have a magazine that is currently in print and looking to go digital.
    We can export to .pdf and it looks good and can read this on the iPad, but for other ereaders/tablets the epub and mobi formats are ideal.
    When using calibre or a direct export from indesign, the layout is horrible. This is understandable as epub and mobi formats have to adapt to screen sizes. What is the best way to design an image heavy magainze for digital?

    How much do you want to spend?
    I don’t mean to sound glib but as you’ve already noted, this isn’t a job for epub which lends itself far more toward books than rich layouts in magazines.
    For that, there are various solutions including Adobe’s Digital Publishing Suite tools.
    The cost for the tools is zero but the publishing costs can be pretty steep. Single, one-off apps are only a one time fee of $395 but if you want to go with a subscription model you’ll be looking at $500/month + $0.22 per download and Apple’s 30% commission.

  • What design aids for large-scale application (using LV6i) exist?

    I have a large-scale application that includes analog and digital I/O, motion control, multiple temperature readings, Ethernet communication, RS-232, DDE and ActiveX controls for communicating with other commercial software. We have to improve the system performance and ease the pain of maintaining and upgrading. What aids are there for large-scale application design and development?

    This doesn't exactly count as development "tools" but I can send you copies of three papers that I found when I was just getting started with LV. They can show you how to think about your problem--and that is really the hardest (and most important) part.
    Contact me directly and I'll email them to you. The archive is to large to post.
