  • How can i determine how much data an app is using

on an iphone5, how can i determine how much data an app is using and or which apps are the biggest data users?  do all apps always use wifi when a wifi is connected or do some apps still use cellular data even if wifi is connected?

Try Settings > General > Usage > Storage > check here.
To test if app is using cellular data instead of Wi-Fi, switch Airplane mode: ON and switch Wi-Fi: ON manually.

  • How can I determine how many events are in my calendars?

The web version of my iCloud Calendar and subsequently also my Calendar.app did show recently various malfunctions and error messages that were inconsistant. Also, Calendar.app crashed when I was editing events. Finally, Calendar.app did complain that my iCloud account would be out of quota, and did direct me to this KB article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4489
I did not know about these quotas before which are not really high and quite limiting for use over longer periods of time. After checking them, I think that my real data are below these limits. However, there might be one exception:
    - Total number of calendars, events, and reminders: 25,000
25,000 sounds a lot, but when you devide by 6 events per day (which is easily reached if you combine family and buisness, and maybe repeated events also count for each repetition at least after editing), one ends up at 4200 days which is not much more than 11 years. I am using Calendar with data since the year 2000 (for some time I used Palm Desktop that took over the (very) old Mac Calendar application and imported/moved the data when iCloud Calendar became available).
    My questions:
    - how can I determine the number of events in my calendars?
    - which events do count in which way for the quota limit?
    - what about events from shared calenders - do they count if owned by another account?
    - what about repeated events which are partially edited?
Thanks in advance for any hint!

    Hi there
I ran into the same problem last year. The solution I used is available here:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1693875
Apple don't seem keen to tell you you've reached your limit and if you think that isn't helpful tough luck. I reached due to duplicate events being created. I didn't know what had happened until I eqnuired further on the above forum. Someone needs to create an event counter application. Perhaps they have. Would need to do a search.
However I've now reached the limit again and I'm not sure why, cue more faffing around being required. That's one of the problems of using a Mac computer with an Android phone.
As for the limit, it exists and if you dont like it you need to change the way you work not Apple. That's the impression I get. Alternatively use something else that has more generious limts. I don't know what that would be. I did consider moving my calendars to Google but it would have meant certain functionality would not work in BusyCal, the third part calendar application I use on my Mac computer.

  • How can I determine how long it take the lab view circuit to execute once?

I'm working on a temperature control labview simulation that works with an external temperature device and I have my labview stimulation set up so that I can turn a external light on or off (which is in a chamber) and the temperature is measured inside that chamber and I displayed versus time in the labview x-y graph. I can internally turn the heat source (the light) on or off and see the waveform change. Now the information that is being displayed on the waveform is also being saved to a data file. And I noticed that as soon as I run the stimulation of the circuit on the first input into the labview while loop is from the data file. now the first execution of the simulation will start as soon as the data files sends an input into the while loop and the second execution of the labview loop will happen the next time the data file inputs something into the while loop of labview. Now, by using circuitry inside the while loop, how can I record the actual time of the initial input (into the while loop) along with the time of the second input into the loop so that I can determine how long it take for one execution in labview will take.

One thing to keep in mind about the Tick Count VI. It uses the ms clock from the CPU which rolls over back to zero after it reaches an upper limit. You might end up getting very large negative values if you subtract the current value from the last value.
Once every 39 (?) days that can happen but are you sure abou the large negative thing?
I seem to remember Rolf saying that the math takes care of itself. A quick experiment confirms that memory.

  • How do I determine how much space is left in different content areas?

I don't know if anyone can help, but I am trying to determine
how much space has been used up in various content areas of our
    Intranet.
The first content area has been limited to 700 Mb. The used
space is showing as -28.152 MB (-4%).
The second content area has been limited to 225 Mb. The used
space is showing up as 27.844 MB (12.4%).
Please could you explain the difference between numbers with a
minus sign in front of them, and those that have no minus sign.
I am confused as to whether we are over the quota of documents
added to either of the areas, although we have had no reports of
users not being able to load documents.
    Thanks very much
    Kate

    Hi Jerry
Thanks for getting back to me.
The database we are on is 8.1.6.3 and we are running Portal
    version 3.0.8.9.8.
All of the documents that are loaded on to our Intranet have
been loaded via the standard content management tools which are
    part of portal.
Is there anything we can do to rectify this problem?
    Thanks very much
    Kate

  • How can I determine how many days are left on an evaluation Enterprise license key?

I am using the evaluation key available for SP 2010 enterprise. However, I would like to be able to determine how many days remain before it expires.
Is there a page/link/powershell command/etc. for getting that information?
    Thank you.

well, I am surprised - and a bit disappointed - that there isn't powershell commands that report the situation.
But, I can manually go through one machine to find the info, then figure out manually or via some web app when the deadline is.
I would have thought if Microsoft wanted people to convert an eval to a commercial license so they would make the information appear on the front of central admin

  • How do you determine how much ram is on your iPad?

I can't seem to find anything that shows how much ram my iPad has.
Also, similar to releasing or clearing cookies on my desktop, does the iPad also have this as something that needs to be cleared out occasionally?

Here is one app and there are others, mostly free, similar to it on itunes.
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/activity-monitor-top-free/id445279837?mt=8
From an ipad forums post :
If you experience your iPad running a bit slow you probably have a ton of applications running in the background. The iPad’s memory is limited, so in order to avoid performance issues you can close background applications by following the steps below.
. To close background applications press the Home button twice and when the recently used apps bar appears, tap and hold down the app you wish to close.
You will notice that after a second or two of holding down the icon, all the icons in the recently used apps bar will begin to move from side to side. You will also notice that a small red circle with a minus sign will appear on the top-left corner of the icon. Tap the red circle to close the background applications. Once you’ve closed several applications tap on the Home button again and you will return to the Home Screen or App you were using. Your iPad should feel a little snappier.

  • How do I determine what workstations my iPad has been connected to?

Hi, as a workaround to a different issue I'm presented with (preventing data from being copied from an iPad to an unauthorized pc), I'm trying to find a way within the iPads logfiles to determine what the device has been connected to? The devices have had all wireless capability disabled so can only connect via USB.
    Thanks

    There are log reading apps.
I did find apps in the app store to read console logs.  I stopped looking after finding these two:
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/consuela/id481121105?mt=8
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/device-log-viewer/id489202498?mt=8
In supervised mode should block connection to random pc.
    There are three ownership models:
        *    Personal
        *    Institution
        *    Layered. combines personal & institution.
Watch this apple video on layered ownership.  It education based, but that's OK.

  • HT201299 How can I determine how much data is left on my iPad?

I would like to access info on my iPad showing current data usage and remaining data usage.  Where do I find that info?

Depends on what you mena by data usage. If you are referring to the amount of storage space left you can go Settings->General->Usage
If you mean Cellular Data Plan usage, you can go to
Settings->Cellular Data->Account should have that information.

  • How can I determine how many pages my Laserjet 1020 printer has printed in its lifetime?

I am trying to be proactive in determining whether I need to plan to replace my Laserjet 1020 printer.  I know that I have seen printouts from resellers/refurbishers which show the number of pages that a printer has printed in its lifetime.  I am just trying to figure out how to get this information from my printer so that I can see how much life it has left.  Can anyone tell me how to generate this report?
    Thanks!!

    Hi davesuff,
You should be able to view the pages printed by going into the driver. Let me know if this works?
    1. Printing Preferences
    2. Basics tab
    3. click on About.

  • How do I determine how many GB I need for an iPad2?

I probably won't download a lot of music or videos, but I do want to be able to use design apps and store photos.  What's a good way to figure out what capacity I need?

Most apps don't require much storage capacity for the apps themselves but if an app creates and stores data, you need to consider that.
How many photos do you have stored on your computer and how much storage space is required for the photos on your computer's hard drive?
The same applies to music and video.
In regards to available storage capacity, it is much better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it - especially with the iPad. Whatever storage capacity you choose cannot be changed/increased later on. Get the most you can afford.

  • How can I determine how much time I'm actually getting from 1 charge?

Lol, I know this question may sound dumb (and I'm pretty sure I'm not )
....but I couldn't think of any other way to word it. I know that the battery meter displays the projected remaining time, but that is constantly fluctuation, and it's not what I'm looking for. I'm wondering if there's some sort of application that can take record or notes of x time I'm getting from x battery. Perhaps a way to track the average usage per charge or something like that? Anyone know of any?

As far as I remember it's not possible. Thus, find attached VI and use it to convert line/column to excel cell format. It's working if you are not using more than 26 columns (i.e. column AA, AB, ... if this is the case you have to improve it a little)
    Hope this helps
