How do i determine what the "other" usage is on my iPad (3.5 gig)

how do i determine what the "other" usage is on my iPad (3.5 gig)

Hey there, I seem to have an issue with the 'other' usage thing.
On my computer and ipod, it shows like this:
when I dont even have more than 2+GB in music and less than 1gb in apps and pictures.
I am on iOS5.1.1 because I had many problems with the Wi-Fi bug for iOS6 (no, it didnt fix for me with 6.0.1)
I am very frustatred because I cant even sync music anymore. AndI dont want to do a reset because it takes me 3+ hours to transfer my music.
any help}?

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

mac shut down due to problem; I rebooted fine. how do I determine what the problem was?

When shut down and rebooted, the Mac OS X does background maintenance on the system. That can solve minor issues.
Beyond this, it is a good idea to run Disk Repair yourself just to make sure.
Reboot with the option key held down. On the screen that comes up select the Recovery disk icon and Continue.
On the next screen Clcik Disk Utility and Continue.
In DU, in the list on the left select the drive to be repaired - click the item that is indented to the right, not an an item whose name starts on the far left.
Click First Aid, then Repair Disk.
After that is done, quit DU and restart as usual.

You CAN run 10.7, but I don't advise it, buy the 10.6.3 upgrade disk from the Apple Store online and then backup files off the machine and upgrade to 10.6.3., then Software Update to 10.6.8 would be the BEST option for your older hardware and it will run most all of your 10.5 software and be faster than 10.5 or 10.7.
If you go to 10.7 it won't run nearly any of your 10.5 software and you will have to buy all new ones for a machine that's getting a little bit dated, near it's end of life stage. 10.7 will slow your machine down, especially with low RAM.
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
At your machines stage, the hard drive is getting old, the vents are clogged up with dust and it's going to cost a bit to get the drive etc upgraded. You can if you wish, but 10.7 really needs more RAM (4GB) and a faster hard drive.
But your still subjected to the video card going out etc.
IMO upgrade to 10.6.8 and stay there until the wheels fall off, then buy a new 10.8 machine being released after this summer or 10.9 machine.

  • How do I determine what the default font for equations is?

In the Equation Fonts dialog box, we can set the font of Functions, Numbers, Strings, and Variables.  In those dropdown lists, there is a Default (para) Font choice.  How do I determine what font that is?  What paragraph tag is associated with an equation?
With all the choices set to default, numbers types in the equation look similar (but not exact) to the Symbol font, but of course typing letters in the Symbol font reveal greek characters.  So is it some derivation of Symbol?

Thanks.  That .cfg file shows Times Regular for the following characters, but none of these characters are the regular alphabet, (are they?) so there must be yet another place?
    mathchar.cfg    53      < plus        2b Times Regular>
    mathchar.cfg    54      < equal       3d Times Regular>
    mathchar.cfg    70      < gg          c8 Times Regular>
    mathchar.cfg    71      < ll          c7 Times Regular>
    mathchar.cfg    93      < fact        21 Times Regular>
    mathchar.cfg    94      < dagger      a0 Times Regular>
    mathchar.cfg    98      < minus       d0 Times Regular>
    mathchar.cfg    106      < uequal      3d Times Regular>
    mathchar.cfg    112      < diff        64 Times Regular>
    mathchar.cfg    116      < ucomma      2c Times Regular>
    mathchar.cfg    117      < semicolon   3b Times Regular>
    mathchar.cfg    118      < optotal     64 Times Regular>
    mathchar.cfg    127      < power       5e Times Regular>
I've determined (by comparing equation string to body string visually) that Times is in fact the font being used.  I just don't see yet how that gets determined.  Any further thoughts?

How Do I Get Rid Of The “Other” Data Stored On My iPad Or iPhone?
    http://tinyurl.com/85w6xwn
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6/7, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

  • How do you determine what the default filename is when you do a SaveAs?

I have a shcedule that I saved and now I want to save it as a .pdf file, so I go into File, SaveAs and select .pdf in the drop down and the default filename is "document" not what the name of my schedule was.  Where is that set?  How
do I make it default to the name of the MS Project Filename?
    Thanks,

    Hi Casey,
Which version, SP and CU do you have? Trying with Project 2010 SP1, the original file name is kept whatever extension selected in the "save as" dialog box.
    Hope this helps,

  • How can I determine what the type actually is?

I already posted this in "Java Programming", so I apologize if you are reading it for the second time.
I'm a CS3 student coding a data structure that uses generics. One of my methods has a possibility of much nicer results than the default if the type happens to be Character. I have been trying to figure out a way to test if the type is Character, but I can't find how to do this. Here are some things I've tried:
    1. Stuff that works with variables but not types, like
if (E instanceof Character)        // does not compile
if (E extends Character)            // does not compile2. Something suggested by someone in "Java Programming":
if (E.class extends Character) // does not compile 3. Something along these lines:
    E testOb;
if (testOb instanceof Character)The last one won't work because either I don't intialize testOb, in which case it won't compile, or I initialize it to null, in which case it will always evaluate to false anyway.
It seems there must be a way to do this. Anyone?

If your project is heavily concerned with Generics then you might want to have a look at this extremely comprehensive FAQ:
    http://www.angelikalanger.com/GenericsFAQ/JavaGenericsFAQ.html
I learn best by reading technical documents from beginning to end so that's what I am doing (just about halfway through). It's nearly 500 pages in its PDF version so you may or may not want to do it my way.

  • 1 website, 2 authors, how not to undo what the other has done

    Hi,
I have begun working on a large (many pages) club website with another person. She is using DW CS4 (I beleive on a Mac), I am using DW CS5. However for some reason I don't believe she uses DW to put the pages up to the website, don't know why, but I intend to talk to her about it. I want to tread softly as to not offend her or sound like I am complaining about how she does things. She is very artistic (which I am not) and I am much more technical, so together we could make an outstanding team, once we work with each other for a while.
I just edited a page to correct a misspelled link, upon putting the file DW warned me the page was changed on the server. I hit overwrite by force of habit just to realize she also made a change to that page so I overwrote her change. Fortunately I new what she changed so I could redo her work.
This long preface is just to ask, how do others handle this situation (two people working on the same website)?
    Thanks for any suggestions
    Dennis

Check in/out in Dreamweaver and use the sync function. Look up the terms in the DW manual. It doesn't make a difference if you use DW to PUT the files. There's nothing wrong with using an FTP application other than DW to upload the files to the server so don't harp girl about that. It would be an unnecessary complaint of how she does things. Just talk to her about syncing files and checking files in/out while working on them. I use FTP other than DW to put files for various reasons, mainly so I can continue to work in DW while my FTP application is putting files. If I were working on a stie with 2+ people I'd perform a sync before opening a file and working on it and use check in/out to assure that two people aren't working on the same file at the same time.

  • How do I determine what the host system is?

dnsstuff.com used to have an option to reveal what type of

option is gone. I need to search for scripts, but do not know

and OS a site is sitting on?

    sometimes
successful. I guess I am a poor remarker. 8) But thanks. Look
