How do I directly contact someone?

I would like to ask someone (Darren) a question about something he showed us at NIWeek.  Do I just start a new message in the LabVIEW forum and hope he sees it?  I have always thought there should be some way of alerting an individual that there is a message in a forum directed to them or about them.  If not, then give us a way to send a message to them privately through a forum interface.  No email addresses need to be given out.

In general, I think you're right that the option to send a message to someone through the forum interface is not necessarily a bad idea, but I'm not sure the forum software supports that option. Of course this means that the moderators need to have enough power to act against users in case some users abuse the system. This might be a serious problem in a place like this, where you often get a lot of users which just come in and ask a small number of questions. I have seen this abused by some "consumer users" on LAVA, where you have a much smaller community, and I wouldn't want those users bombing my email with PMs.
In your specific case, I can think of a few simple options:
Post a thread to the BreakPoint. Darren is somewhat likely to see it.
Post a reply in one of his threads (e.g. a nugget). That's likely to send him an email.
Post something to the LAVA forums.
Since he also made some contributions to Info LabVIEW, you'll be able an email address for him in their archives.
Note - this is not an encouragement for people to hassle Darren. I mind posting this here less, because this board will get less traffic, but most questions can probably be answered through these forums by other members as well. I was in Darren's session as well (if you were there on Thursday, I was the one who sat in the front row and kept making annoying remarks), so I would guess I could answer some of those.

  • Where can I find step by step directions for contacting someone by FaceTime?

    I have strong resistance to using FaceTime to contact people and so have never used it before.  
    I have no idea how this works and also could not find detailed directions anywhere.
    In the same way that someone who has never used a computer or email would need to have a list of steps
    that start with creating an email address,
    to creating and sending messages, so do I need details on using FaceTime.  
    I see that it stores my contacts phone numbers and email addresses but this does not explain how you
    actually use it.
    I do know that whoever you contact has to be on it at the same time.                                                             This still does not tell me how to contact them.   I also would like to know if Skype and FaceTime are the same thing.    Can someone on Skype contact someone on FaceTime?  
    I opened up FaceTime and looked at it and know that I should first put on my make up.     I don't see what to do after this.    I also don't see any real help section for it (which is how I learned to do Excel and WORD without anyone to help me)

    It's easily done via email addresses. One party calls the other via their email address. This is done automatically in Facetime.

    I don't have the app adn no expereince with it, but it appears basec on teh app description you may need it installed on your MAC as well to download the files.

    Out of curiosity how much data per month are you using?  Another factor could be if neighbors have all done the same thing as you and the node is being overloaded on home internet use.

    Email notifications are a feature of the Basic and Plus account.
    The free account only allows for 50 responses. The Plus (Premium) account allows for 5000.

    I can't find any way to contact Adobe other than Live Support. I'm currently overseas and don't want to call on the phone.
    I placed an order on Aug. 20th for upgrades to Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 3. I have the order number in the confirmation e-mail, and the transaction is still Pending at PayPal.com.
    Today, the order number can not be found in Order Status. Live Support said the order was cancelled because the "credit card was declined", and I should contact the "bank". As I told him (or her), the transaction was still Pending at PayPal.com.
    Live Support simply said to resubmit the order, with no other offer of a solution.
    I received no notice of any errors or issues! If an order was cancelled, wouldn't it be prudent to let the customer know?
    When I started to resubmit the order, because I really want these upgrades, I realized the promotional pricing was no longer effective. So, my replacement order is now more expensive than the one that was mysteriously canceled.
    What's going on with Adobe.com? This is by far the worst online purchasing experience I've ever had! I use PayPal all the time to order products and have never had a problem.
    I think the worst part is how Adobe simply abandoned the entire process, leaving me completely in the dark, and leaving the order in a Pending status at PayPal.com.  What am I supposed to do, just wait for another three days for some kind of notice?
    So, is there any other way to contact someone at Adobe and get this resolved, or will I need to stay up until 3:00am to make a call at my expense?

    I apologise for the trouble you have gone through. I will look into this matter for you. Did you happen to place the order while you were overseas or placed the order back home itself ? The reason I ask this question is if you had placed the order while overseas the order will definitely be rejected since the IP address from where you placed the order will contradict the billing zip code which is a big deterrent when orders are processed.
    I apologise the way you have been treated by support regarding this issue and let me assure this will not happen again. I will ensure that you are offered the same price for the products you had ordered initially.

    I have a 3yr old HP running Windows 7.  For a class in Powerpoint the school allowed me to download MS Office 2013.  In a exercise to embed a video from YouTube it said I needed an Adobe Flash video plugin so I downloaded Adobe Flash Player 3 times with a reboot before the last time.  Each time the same message came up.  I initially reached out to this forum to see if there was a phone number for Adobe.  Since the clock is ticking for when the assignment is due I hired the Geek Squad to troubleshoot.  After optimizing my PC this is the message they ended up with after 6 hrs of work.

    With iMessage, it is meant to show up on all your iOS devices and Mac. If you do not want them to go across all your devices, then you will need to turn off iMessage on your iPad and Mac Pro.

    the same problem happened to me also, i felt that while playing hay day, if some calls came in between and if i answered the call, the setting of all the icloud items turns off. (i have backup of all the items on icloud), after deleting the account and making settings of mail, contact, calander etc on on mode and after rebooting the phone, it again download from icloud server. but it is just a headache. do not know how to handle this.

    Recently I needed assistance for my PowerMac G5 Quad. It's a problem with the water-cooling unit (but this is not the point). Cutting short: the first apple authorized service center hasn't found any problem suggesting that I should "let it break" to pinpoint the real problem (sure.. let's melt the whole cpu to find later that only a sensor was fried...). In the meantime, when I was asking to order a copy of Leopard (to replace Tiger on the G5) they offered me pirated software. I refused, took the Powermac back and I'll never be back there.
    The second technician (another AUTHORIZED reseller): Took the quad. Said that all was normal with the hardware test. When I said to him that I also tryed that (I'm not a newby) and that he should try the thermal calibration using the diagnostic disk (which every technician should have)... at the phone he sounded very confused. I had to explain to him what a diagnostic disk is and why is necessary to perform a thermal calibration everytime the cooling unit or the cpu's are disassembled for repair or replacing.
    Took back the quad. No improvements.
    I don't want to waste fuel on another trip to a new technician. I want to contact somone in charge of the customer support in Croatia to give informations about those reseller and their unbelievable support. Noone else have to be serviced by such incompetent technicians...
    .... so the question is very simple. How can I contact someone in charge for the customer support here in Croatia or maybe in Italy? I speak italian, a good english and a good Croatian, so i don't mind to speak by phone to someone here in Croatia, in Italy or in an English speaking country.

    I've been searching for a way to delete a contact group on the iPhone, but I was not able to find one. The only answers I have found tried to tell me that it is not possible to do this on the iPhone.
