How do I disable -- almost permanently -- wireless for my MacBook?

I know that by deleting the airport function from the network panel and then clicking the 'lock' that denies the computer the ability to connect to wireless signals automatically, but what I'm trying to do is to achieve the same result -- no wireless access -- but even for the administrator as well.
So: Is there a way -- other than setting up an administrator password that the user doesn't know -- of locking a user out from changing network preferences?
I'm not trying to lock someone else out of using the internet: I'm actually trying to lock myself out. In the past, I could just remove the wireless card from under my keyboard on the iBook and that would do it. But with a sealed MacBook, this doesn't seem possible.
Any tips?
Thank you!
G.

Simple answer: short of removing the card - nope.
Long answer - there may be a way of doing it by modifying some kernel extensions (like removing the ones for Airport) however this is VERY UNSAFE if you don't know what you're doing, and could have unforeseen effects. I've never personally done this, it's just the best thing I can think of off the top of my head other than pulling the card out of the machine.
To reiterate: MESSING WITH KERNEL EXTENSIONS IS UNSAFE AND COULD VERY LIKELY SCREW UP YOUR OS, I JUST WOULDN'T DO IT UNLESS YOU'VE GOT A DANG GOOD REASON AND SOME GOOD INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO DO IT SAFELY.

How can I convert an .m1v file for my MacBook to be able to play it?
I tried numerous apps from the app store, but they failed

    Hello:
Rather than try to buy a box, I suggest you take the computer to a FedEx or UPS store.  They will wrap and safely package the device for a reasonable cost (I have shipped two iMacs this way).

  • How can I download Microsoft office excel  for my MacBook Pro Mac OSX version for free. Please help me!

How can I download Microsoft office excel for my MacBook Pro  for free?

You can't. Excel is a commercial product sold by Microsoft in an Office "package" and not as a stand-alone product.
If you need to be able to open and save Excel documents on your Mac, however, you could try the free LibreOffice.

  • How can I disable the notification sound for remaining credit messages

My operator sends me a message after every call and text which tells me what remains of my monthly allowances. This is very useful and I don't want to turn it off. I've just got myself a Z10 and the only thing that annoys me about it is that I have not yet found out how to disable the notification sound for this type of message. The device is stock with the latest firmware and no apps.
I can change the notification for normal text messages in the settings, but there is no obvious entry to change for these messages. Does anyone know how to do it?

If the message comes in the (bell) notifications it can only be switched OFF globally.
If it is a text message, you can create a contact with the number, then Setting - Notifications - Contacts - Customise - Phone Calls, Email Messages, Text Messages, Other Messaging

  • How do i disable a incorrect passcode for my ipad

How do i disable or reset a incorrect passcode for my ipad? can anyone assist.

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.

I'd like to disable automatic spell-checking for specific domains, such as programming-oriented forums. Is there a way to do this in about:config?

    See:

You could create a Greasemonkey script to add a spellcheck="false" attribute or create a bookmarklet to add the attribute.

  • How do I identify a replacement battery for my Macbook 13"

I am looking on how to identify what replacement batteries might be available for my MacBook. Can someone help. Current battery is 3779 mAh, 12330 volts      ( mV) DC. I am lokoing to increase capacity but want to find something that fits.
    Thanks
    Jim

The model 6,1 Late 2009 and the model 7,1 Mid 2010 A1342 use an A1331 battery. You can replace it yourself or have Apple do it for you for $129. If you need it quickly make sure you order it from a U. S. seller. Orders from China can take two or three weeks.

Here's installation instructions. You'll need a Tri Wing Y1 screwdriver in addition to the usual #00 Phillips screwdriver.

  • How do I find a model number for my MacBook?

I am trying to purchase more memory for my MacBook through a website www.crucial.com
When I go to select my model, there are a few options and I don't know how to figure out which is mine. I know mine is a
2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (13" White) but then there's a few different "model numbers"? i.e. MA700LL/A, etc... how do i know which one to pick for my MacBook? I don't see this info under the "About This Mac" info...
    any help would be great!!!

So after finally downloading the software from Crucial - it looks like i have a
    Apple MacBook 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (13-inch White) MA700LL/A Laptop/Notebook.
it says I can only get up to 2G - is that right?!?! A buddy of mine bought his only a few months after me and he can hold 4G - is that right?? I feel jipped if that's the case...
That's the nature of product cycles. I bought a 12" combo-drive iBook G3 600 in March 2002 for $1500. A few months later the 12" iBook G3 800 came out for $1299 with same combo-drive. That's the nature of technology. Some people get obsessive about memory prices, although the current prices for MacBook compatible memory are probably at/near their lowest point.
Running programs like Ableton could use the extra memory. Not sure if Crucial underestimates how much memory it can recognize? Everyone on here seemed to think I could hold at least 3G...
Apple doesn't document it, but apparently it should be able to accept 4GB and use up to 3.3GB. Some retailers recommend just a 2GB + 1GB combination for the cost conscious. Other World Computing lists single modules for people who want to do that. Crucial doesn't make compatibility guarantees for configurations that aren't supported by the manufacturer.

  • How will an external Hard drive designed for the macbook Pro work with my White Macbook?  My  white macbook has a Firewire 400 and the G-Tech HD has a 800 to 400 compatible cable for the firewire.

I am asking this because I want the G-Tech Hard drive  says that it is designed for the macbook pro.  Yet, I want to back up faster with by using my firewire 400 which is not an option on the one designed for the white macbook that does not have a firewire (only a USB port.)  The G-Tech Hard drive comes with the 800 to 400 compatible cable and has 5400 RPM with 750 GB.  Also, I've heard that laptops with low battery (mine all the time)  won't have the power for a bus powered Hard drive (as in no ac plug in adaptor.)  Can I just plug in my laptop?  Any one know the answers from experience with this hard drive?

As far as I know, if a harddrive works with a Macpro, it should work with the Macbook: if your Macbook is low on power, plug in the AC adapter
If your Macbook has a firewire port, then it should be fine. BUt i would do somemore research first.

    Amanda,
I have asked the moderator to remove your personal information, including your email and serial number. Posting that information on a public forum is not very wise.
Regarding the loose screw take the machine to an Apple Store or AASP to be looked at.
Regarding your first  question, would you please re-word it, I'm having difficulty trying to understand what you are looking for.
