How do I disable an app's recent documents?

When I secondary click an app in my Dock, it brings up a menu with a list of recently opened documents. How do I disable this so it doesn't display these?

I don't even know what Versions is. I watched the Keynote when Lion came out, but I forgot. :/ I think it's like ⌘+Z, or undo. Is that correct?
Anyway, I was working in Pages and some error about my volume not supporting Versions came up, and now the menu is empty.
I guess it's fixed, but I'd like to know what happened and how to re-enable Versions but keep the icon menu turned off.

How can I disable mail.app?

I want to disable mail.app. I don't buy that it's "needed by OS X." I want it shut off, or preferably uninstalled. I found a better app that still lets me read newsgroups, and mail.app just gets in the way. I had to go in and tell Google Calendar to shut off email notifications to stop the Notification Center from opening mail.app without me wanting it.
I might consider re-enabling mail.app, but not now. Maybe not ever. I bought a Mac so applications would only run when I want them. This is not it.

Hey, I too have mail.app open on its own even though it is not the default email program and I do not "open" or "click" on it. I also--I don't think--have any accounts configured. When it opens all I see is the "Welcome to Mail" page.
Major annoyance.
Do you have any recommendations or suggestions on how to prevent mail.app from opening?

Inverted logic to yours. Restore... is unchecked. Nonetheless, re-opening is not effectively deactivated. For ecxample when I reboot the Mac with a lot of Applications + Documents open, and when I start the one or the other application then it comes up with the recently opened document. Even Terminal shows me the whole recent contents of a ssh session to a database server.
In the "Do you really want to Restart? Are yor 1000 % sure?" box, re-opening apps is deactivated.
On a travel, visiting customers, Keynote at customer B, automatically came up with a presentation for the customer A (competitor of B). This was very embarrassing and this is inacceptable.

Are you talking about Apple App Store purchases? Just go to the App Store, and on the quick links on the right side of the screen, if it says 'Welcome YourUserID', then click on that and click sign out. That way, in order to use the App Store to do anything, your child will need your apple ID password.

TS1702 How do I disable an app from being installed. I have Newstand app that is hanging up my app downloads.

I just purchased a new iPad which replaces my old one. During the initialization phase it try's to install all the apps fi have previously purchased from the apps store. It seems to be hanging up installing the News stand app which prevents it from installing all of the other apps from the store. Question, how do I delete the News stand app an therefore prevent it from hanging up the installation. I don' T recall ever purchasing it and it doesn't appear in my purchased list, plus it doesn't present the 'X' at the top corner of the icon so it won't let me delete it there. To delete an app, open iTunes and go to Applications. Right click in the app that you want to delete and click Delete. Then, connect your iPad to your computer and the app will disappear

For your current issue, all I can suggest is to let it launch everything, then selectively select an app, close all of its windows, and quit the app.

Before trying out iCloud, I had a number of documents on my ipad. I decided to try iCloud, but upon switching it back off, my documents were deleted off of pages. Upon restarting iCloud, they reappear.
So my question is, how do I turn off iCloud without having my documents deleted?

Then you shouldn't come on so strong. I have a 200 Gig Dropbox account and I have been wary from day 1 of using my 1 year MobileMe "free" storage that would eventually go away if I didn't pay Apple. I would not, and did not, set iCloud to save my documents.
I'd like to get the real answer from Apple emloyees. If you can not delete from iCloud without deleting on the computer, it's a bad design. What I'm talking about is very easy with Dropbox.

Thank you but I don't want to "delete" them. There's a way of disabling the bottom four apps in the IPhone so they don't run in the background without deleting them. I just got my 4S replaced from another one and I can't remember how I did it. If I can't get the answer I'll call Apple Care.

I have Adobe Acrobat X, and I have a PDF document of around 700 pages. Inside, I have several pages I've downloaded from different websites, some of these pages have flash animations (I mean adverts with flash), when I click in a certain page of my PDF document that has a flash animation inside, booom it crash automatically.
How may I disable flash in my PDF documents?

Realistically you can't. Flash is enabled in the Acrobat X Family via embedded code, as it not only runs content within a PDF but also runs several elements of the user interface, such as the Share Pane.
If you know of a particular PDF file that is causing crashes, please submit it via a bug report.

No recent documents

In all my iWork apps, the "Recent Documents" is always blank. Is there a setting somewhere that's keeping that from working? I do have it set in System Preferences which shows my ten most recent documents (from any app) under the Apple menu, but nothing shows up in the applications themselves.

Under Snow Leopard the Open Recents feature behaves flawlessly.
If it doesn't on your machine it's that something is wrong on it.
To clean the beast, it would be useful to run a maintenance tool.
Cocktail is now 10.6 aware but it's not free.
Onyx is free but at this time there is only a beta version which run under 10.6.
I don' feel free to tell you: use this version.
Maybe there is a free trial version of Cocktail.

Re-opening most recent files/web sites--how can i disable this?

when I close a window and then reopen it, or when i log out and then log back in, the most recent thing I was looking at from before immediately pops open. That is not necessarily the way I would like it to work--didn't do that with Snow L. How can I disable this?

In System Preferences > General > uncheck Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps.
Note that this preference affects all apps.
